10k Yellow Gold Onyx and Diamond Men's Ring

I purchased this ring for my husband as a 20th Anniversary present. I loved the look of it and since New Orleans is one of our favorite places, the fleur de lis design was perfect! When I opened the box my first thought was, “Wow, is he going to be impressed!” The ring displays very well. Then I took it out. My disappointment with the quality was overwhelming. The ring is very light-weight and appears to be quite fragile. I’m a small person but I swear I could have bent it with a simple squeeze. The ring is totally hollow and seems to have been created by pressing thin metal over a mold. The onyx is held in place by four large rectangular prongs, probably 1/4 of an inch long. Each of these appears to be very flimsy and although I didn’t try, I think they could be bent with a fingernail. The prongs are also very sharp and are not flush with the underside of the onyx. One actually sliced into my husband’s finger during the few minutes he had the ring on. Although the price isn’t extravagant, I expected more than a flimsy piece of costume jewelry for my ***. I will think twice before purchasing another piece of jewelry from Overstock.
