I wanted to give a extensive review of this ring to help anyone else looking to purchase this item since most of the reviews here are lacking in any real detail and are littered with personal opinions rather than facts. Facts about this ring: ~This ring has an elevated setting with a gaped arch as most reviewers have stated. ~The diamonds are small, but are plainly visible inside the pavé settings and do not resemble etched gold. ~The center stone is a brilliant cornflower with no flaws. The facets are well cut with very little light capable of passing through the stone. ~ The center stone is a 9mm cushion cut AAA sapphire. ~The band, with the the setting's gaped arch, does not connect underneath the setting. The gap is 5.5mm in length from shank to shank. ~The stock size I ordered, size 5, seems to run true, but for it to fit my finger the ring will need to be cut down. My personal opinions: This ring is stunning. It shines with a light of its own due to the many well carved facets in the center stone. The pavé set diamonds are of a perfect quality to compliment the 9mm cushion cut center stone; anything bigger would present the stone in an ostentatious way and give a "cheap" aire to the ring; believe me- I speak from personal experience. You see, for 5 months my fiancé and I have searched for the perfect engagement ring. First a $1,000 ring, identical to this setting featured offered here, was purchased only to have the center stone fall out twice. Another $1,000 ring set with a larger 9.75mm center stone and 1.5mm pavé set accent diamonds was so "big", with it's massive setting and shank, that it felt gaudy and wouldn't allow my wedding band to sit comfortably against the setting in any way. After fretting and searching for what seemed like forever I happened across this ring on O.com and was thrilled. The height of the setting allows for my future wedding band to sit comfortably against the ring's band with no gaps or "pinch" between the rings. As well the gaped arch provides a stunning display for the center stone. In regard to the comments some have made about the ring "pinching", I would speculate that the truth is the center stone's tip occasionally digs into the flesh when pressed tightly against the finger for any reason. The gaped arch's width is too wide to actually pinch anyone in and of itself. In reality, the sensation of being pinched is not uncommon with exposed stone tips, but with the extreme exposure allowed by this ring's setting, the issue it might put some off of the hunt. I cannot speak to the colour of other's stones, however the stone I received is brilliantly fired in a deep cornflower blue shade unlike some of the very first reviews given here. True sapphires come in many shades of blue, and it is up to the stone cutter to create the fire within with facets and honing. With many created sapphires, when held to the light, you can see straight through them no matter how they are faceted, but the stone I received is wonderful and I couldn't be more pleased. In essence, I have the ring of my dreams to walk down the isle with and, with our discounts on O.com, we have an extra $840 in our pockets, too. An excellent buy to be sure.

I am using this ring as my engagement ring and it is so pretty. The color reminds me of the movie Titanic where rose has her sapphire heart necklace its exactly that color. the litte diamonds gives it that extra sparkle. Its a little big but it fits very comfortably. yes its raised up quite much but now i didnt have to worry about buying a wedding band that will fit the ring. My ring arrived five business days after i ordered it.

before my fiancee bought this ring i had read the reviews..i wanted something different and also Eco- friendly i.e nobody got hurt creating or mining this stone... its absolutely beautiful the sapphire is dark the diamonds are shiny and i can see each round one,although they are small the ring is classy and antique looking would recommend it to anyone esp bc of the price im extremely happy with it!!!! i could have spent thousands but this was exactly what i wanted thank u overstock!!!! and its also my birthstone so it has sentimental value to me and it arched up and i have no had any issues w it being caught on anything .....

Inexpensive and pretty nice. It doesn't look too bad from afar. The picture gallery should have included a front-side picture to show how the ring was elevated. But the trick works so one can wear a wedding ring with it.

Wonderful ring that is made with quality in mind. Keep in mind the sizing - get one full size down if you have small fingers. Sits high up but fits perfectly with a wedding band. Elegant gemstone without being too big and gaudy - does not make my slim fingers look ridiculous.

I bought this ring for my mom and she loves it. She had to have it sized just a little but its a great ring. The diamonds in the pic are deceptive but did you really think you would get diamonds that big for the price

The sapphire was mounted up and away from the ring, therefore making it very easy to be removed when wearing it, by catching it on clothes, etc. It was a beautiful ring, but not what I was looking for.

The way the setting is, the band doesn't complete and "pops" up to the setting leaving a gap in the band under the stone. I would recommend a size down for most. It kept pinching me.

Absolutely beautiful ring!! The sapphire is definitely the show stopper!!!!...the diamonds are smaller then they look in the picture...surrounds the sapphire nicely; definitely adds charm to the piece!!

Don't get me wrong. I like the ring, it's pretty. It's just of very low quality. Considering how much I paid for it though, I'm not terribly shocked. I was merely hoping for better. The diamonds on the ring are barely noticeable. They are of such low quality that they just look gray and flat. The sapphire is very pretty. The way the ring is made is very poor. Very thin ring, I don't think I'll get more than a couple of years' wear out of it. Also, the pictures of the ring doesn't show the cut-out under the sapphire. I have to wear it with another thin band next to it otherwise it pinches my finger and is very uncomfortable.

This ring looks like to you paid so much for it. Very sophisticated. Get it a size smaller though. I highly recommend it.

I bought this ring as a present for a friend. And it was perfect. The stone is very dark, rich and beautiful. The diamond's are sparkly. My friend loved the ring and it was everything described online.

I don't even know what to say about this ring. Breathtaking! ***o has one online that is $36,000. Its a real sapphire of course, not factory made, but otherwise identical. They list the retail price of that ring as $64,000. This one is every bit as beautiful and I can't believe the deal we got. Very sparkly and the stone has a multifaceted appearance. Tip: if you want to bring out the fire in the rock, use a soft toothbrush and clean with dish soap, then blow dry with a regular blow dryer to bring out the sparkle. Works like a charm...

The band in this ring is not a full circle and the area underneath the stone is left open. This really bothered me at first, but I have gotten use to it in the last few weeks. I would rather have the band be solid, but a cheap, plastic ring guard can fix the issue. I bought this as a right hand ring, so I ordered it half a size larger than usual because rings I wore on my left hand were snug on my right. The lack of a full band ends up making the ring loose, and I could have done without the half size up.

• How did the image on site compare with the actual product? The pictures fail to show that the band isn't a complete circle. Nor do they show how high the stone sit up from the band.
• Please tell us about the quality of the product. Pleased with the quality. One of the prongs holding in the larger stone isn't as far down as it could be, and it catches on hair/fabric from time to time, but I can easily get that corrected.

This was my first overstock purchase. I am highly impressed with the fast shipping and beauty of the ring. I received it as a graduation gift from my mother. I get compliments every-time I wear the ring.

I'm definitely a fan of this ring! But there are a few things I would have been interested in knowing (some of which have already been said but I'll just go ahead and reiterate them for good measure). The gem appears lighter in person than it does on the website (only slightly). As others have mentioned, the gem is elevated which I assume was done in case you want to wear it with a band, Because of the elevation, it does get caught on things once in a while but I got used to it. I've already gotten a bunch of compliments on it! I wear it on my middle finger with a diamond band next to it on my ring finger and they look fabulous together. Like others have said, the diamonds surrounding the gem are barely there, but I don't think it detracts from the ring; had they been larger, I'm sure there would have been people complaining that the ring looked fake ha. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase!
