Really was a little apprehensive about buying the rug as I usually go 'name brand' on my sisals/jute, i.e., from ***** or *****.... BUT...this rug is GREAT! Just as nice quality, if not better...the rug pad is actually part of the rug, so I can eliminate the need for a rug pad. SUPER!
I ordered this carpet for under my kitchen table and it looked fantastic. My kitchen has a caribbean theme, so it was perfect. This carpet has no odor and roll's out perfectly. My big problem was when my dog had an accident. I found that liquid of any kind soak's right into the carpet and does not blot up. I cleaned the area and it look's as if I bleached the stain. I used mild soap and water. So, this is a wonderful carpet as long as nothing get's spilled on it as it does not clean well. I removed it from the kitchen and put it into the sun room with a piece of furniture on top of the stain to hide it. Bottom line, if you think there is a chance that something might spill I would pass on this.

This is a fabulous rug. It is a rich color and soft enough to walk on barefoot. The only downside is that when the rug arrived it smelled unbelievably awful. I had to leave it outside for 2 days and even then it smelled a little when I brought it in. Now I have had it for more that 6 months and it is a great rug and a great value.

This rug is much better quality than I anticipated. I wanted a rug with some "texture" for my dining room and it really adds some "pop" to the room. I am pleasantly surprised at how heavy (or maybe I should say thick) it is. The price is definitely great for such a rug.

I liked the looks of this rug but it is not practical for the den and is not easily cleaned. spot cleaning leaves a mark on the area. Also the edges of the carpet curl up, it does not lay flat on the floor. It is easy to trip over if you are not paying attention. I would not buy this again.
This rug is fabulous for the price. It is in my morning room under my ktichen table. It is clean looking and reminds me of something I would see in a XXXXXXX XXXX catalog. The quality is great, esp. for the price.
The materials listed are: Cotton, Fabric, Natural Fiber, Sisal - but there also seems to be rubber and probably glue. 1) Where can I find a complete list of materials; 2) Are the rugs treated with anything (protective coating, antibacterials, etc.); and 3) Can you confirm that they are VOC free and free of any other toxic materials? Thank you.bretigne on Jun 9, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello bretigne, The Primary material is Sisal, It has a rubber backing and its free of any chemical materials. Thanks for shopping with us!overstockcustomercare1 on Jun 17, 2014
Hello lgallof, we appreciate your inquiry. Both of them will carry a natural appearance with them as they are extracted from organic plants. So if you are just looking for natural element, you can choose any of jute or sisal designs. However, there are certain characteristics about both of these materials that you should know about. While jute rugs carry their brown appearance, sisal rugs are off-white or cream-colored. Once the weaving process of jute rugs is complete, they give a unique appearance. Each piece may look distinctly different after completion. Jute floor coverings are made up of smooth and soft natural fibers. These natural fibers also have a waxy sheen that looks a lot like flax or hemp. These natural fibers also have a waxy sheen that looks a lot like flax or hemp. On the other hand, sisal will give you a textured yarn touch. Jute rugs are highly durable as compared to several other rugs made up of synthetic fibers. However, they don't last very long in heavy foot traffic areas. It is better to choose these rugs for bedrooms and dining rooms where foot traffic is a bit lower. As far as entry hallways and living rooms in your house are concerned, sisal rugs may be more suitable. We hope this information has been helpful. Thank you for shopping with us. The materials said sisal and cotton, but when the rug arrived it has a "non skid" bottom that has a smell (glue, rubber, I'm not sure what). This material should be included in the list of materials, but it was not. I am airing it out to see if I can get the smell to clear, but am frustrated that it was not listed in the description.courtenayr on Feb 8, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
I'm sorry for your frustration. Thank you for letting the other customers know this information. overstockcustomercare1 on Feb 11, 2013
I agree, it should be listed in the description. We have purchased two of these rugs and we liked the fact that it had a rubber backing. For that reason we didn't see a need for a carpet pad. The smell quickly goes away after 3-5 days. Give it time.bagwell1 on Apr 4, 2013
the smell is the sisal not the glue on the bottom. it will dissipate over time.jazmyn05 on Jun 10, 2013
I noted that you said it could be wiped clean only. Can it be professionally cleaned?shenders on Jan 18, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Yes this can be professionally cleaned.
Vacuum the rug weekly, vacuuming the underside, too, if possible. Professional cleaners should only use a dry extraction process, not steam or shampoo, on the rug. Blot spills immediately with a clean towel.
Please let me know if you have any further question.overstockcustomercare1 on Jan 19, 2013
