    This is hands-down my favorite household appliance/gadget. We have a dyson but being able to wash dishes or fold laundry and watch your floor get vacuumed at the same time is so satisfying! Love it!

  • What did I do before roomba???

    I wish it weren't so expensive because I would buy everyone I love one of these. It is so nice to come home and the vacuuming is done. I have hardwood floors and area rugs and it cleans both well. I also love how close it will get to walls too. Great edge cleaning. It has had quite a workout as I have a new wool rug which has been shedding alot. I know it is getting the job done because everyday after work I empty the dust tray and it is full. It is not super loud so I don't even mind when it runs when I'm home. In fact, I like to see where it goes and how it tackles any transitions in flooring. Programming and self docking for recharging....fantastic!!!!Everything should be like my roomba. Worth every penny to me.

  • I love roomba & want to give 5*'s but cannot

    I first have to say that I love roombas after my first experience with them which was a 7 year love affair that ended just two years ago. Now that I am leaving this very negative review for this model 650 I realize that I owe it to iRobot to go back and review that first model The Discovery 4210 and give it a 5-star across the board review. - A first generation robot that took care of my hardwood floors and pet hair for 7 years. that review is forthcoming. HERE unfortunately is were the review of the new model 650 begins, and it's all downhill so I'll make it brief. It arrived. It charged, it backed up, turned around, and charged forward, it got stuck on the edge of a 3/4 inch low pile rug (no fluff) til it died with an error message and had to be manually returned to its base with a blinding red error light that would not turn off. Day two: again, reverse, turn, charge forward, stuck on edge of rug (not the fibers, mind you, the edge), error message, pick up return to base manually. Day three: repeat.same "error" message except this time the red error message did not go away when placed carefully on its base. after an overnight "charge" still a red error message and would not start, would not "emergency clean", would not do anything. I'm not even sure it even charged except that the red error light stayed on all night and half the next day not on the base. My thought was with a dead battery it would "reboot" next time I plugged in, yet no, just red error. I was now sad. The love of my life was replaced by a shinier newer fraud of a partner. She never did wake back up after those 3 intense days almost like a cheap date I was so excited to find who turned out to be hooked on smack in my bathroom only to be found dead on the tiles by the fourth day of tumult and heartbreak. Yes, I know I said this would be short, but I do truly have faith in iRobot despite the ridiculous price increases on a technology that in my judgement should be getting LESS expensive over time.

  • Great little robot friend!

    We loved watching the Roomba map out the house as soon as we charged it up! Had no trouble recognizing stairs and rugs and even dropped the laptop cord it encountered. Roomba has some trouble with truly massive dust bunnies, but if you keep the tray cleaned and keep cords and clothes off the floor, it'll bump around till it gets most all of them. The corners are a bit difficult as well for this rotund dust muncher, but it does as well as I did with a bulky upright. If your previous vacuum had a lot of snouts and attachments for corners and windowsills, then hang on to it, because Roomba can't get to those well. Where it does excel is in keeping the floor dust and dirt free with nothing to do on your part except emptying the tray regularly, and getting underneath furniture and bathroom cabinets, where it's difficult to get a conventional vacuum to fit.

    Springtime with a Malemute should say it all. I have all hardwood floors with a few painted canvas rugs. I use it daily for fur and dog foot dirt maintenance. It works great with the fur and sand. I do pull the chairs away from the dining table to give it room to maneuver and keep itself oriented in the space. I have noticed that it is important to clean the wheels per the instructions, the fur wraps around the axles and starts to constrict their use. Overall I am very pleased as it works as advertised and does what I bought it for.

  • How adept is it at climbing over transition threshholds between carpet and hardwood floors or tile and carpet. These thresholds have a very low edge to suit their purpose--but there is a definite step-up edge. Typical threshold plates between different flooring.

    • This Roomba does a great job transitioning from hardwood to carpet. I have hardwood throughout my entire 2400 sq. ft home with rugs in every room. Some thick shag and some thin. It cleans them all with no problem.
