My first order from Overstock. This desk is actually quite beautiful and the pictures above do not do it justice. Assembly took some time, but if you are familiar with "scandinavian do it yourself" furniture, this should be a breeze. The quality of the material is excellent. The instructions could be a bit better, but if you go step by step and picture everything before putting it together, you'll find that it is quite simple and elegant. This is especially true when putting together the support pieces for the drawer rails... they are supposed to be staggered. Anyway, it is very substantial and extremely sturdy if put together correctly. The finish is black with hints of dark brown/espresso and is quite stunning. The stainless steel handles are heavy and elegant. I think this desk is quite the steal at this price. I had been shopping for a desk for quite some time and this one easily puts desks twice the price to shame.

I bought this desk to use as both a small dining table and a desk. It's quite big and works well for both needs. I have a builder for a husband, so he put it together in about 30 minutes with no trouble, but I don't think I could have done it so easily myself. There are a LOT of parts! It looks beautiful. The only thing that bothers me is that the middle drawer that pulls out for the keyboard isn't quite flush with the other drawers, like the magnet isn't quite perfect. This is the only part that comes pre-assembled, so maybe my husband just put the other parts together too well, at least that's what he likes to think :)Also, my table top came broken, but Overstock was very easy to deal with and they shipped another out asap. I guess that's the risk when shipping furniture.Overall, I am very happy with it and definitely recommend it.

This is a great desk: sturdy, attractive, well constructed overall. There are a few details which may have been left out in the manual, but if you take your time with it and treat it like a project, just as a previous reviewer mentioned, you should be okay.I'm actually ordering a second one soon.

This desk is as described. It is very sturdy construction and easy to assemble. We did have a lot of extra screws and parts when we were finished assembling the desk, but it looks great and is assembles according to the directions. Fast service on shipping from Overstock--thanks for great service!

Arrived within a few days of the order. Beautiful, great finish, sturdy, large work surface, clean lines, exceptional value. I've received several compliments on this desk. After reading the reviews on assembly, I enlisted the aid of a handyman who did not have a problem. There was an issue with alignment of the magnet on the keyboard drawer but it was easily rectified.

Product was delivered in a timely fashion. The assembly instructions were very poor and took a long time to assemble. The desk appearance is good but it is not a sturdy desk. I am disappointed with this purchase. I will never again buy ready to assemble furniture.

This desk was difficult to put together. It also came with the top piece cracked. Due to the fact that the box has been too-readily broken down and disposed of prior to finishing assembly - we are stuck with it. It looks good - NOT EVEN CLOSE to easy to assemble. The pieces on the one we got did not all line up. The directions were horrible. I would not recommend this desk unless you have an insurmountable supply of patience. We can easily fix the desk - however - we are going to have 'modify' the keyboard tray so that the magnets and contacts properly line up. Buyers beware!

I could not be happier with this purchase. It is sturdy, handsome, very large, an all around great value. It is fairly tasking to put together but well worth it. Although, I do have an electric screwdriver and a sick penchant for assembly.

Great desk. After reading the previous reviews, I knew it would likely be beyond my competence to assemble. So I had my buidling engineer put it together for me for $20. Then I topped it with glass. Stunning!!

After reading the reviews of how difficult this was to assemble, I almost didn't buy the desk. But I loved the price and the looks, and I was not disappointed when it arrived. I decided to take my time putting it together and I think that's the way to approach this... as a project. More than the directions, you need to understand the drawings. The finished desk is gorgeous and large. Everything fit together, the holes were properly drilled, all the pieces for assembly were included (even with some extras). The only part that took some time to understand were the special locking metal pieces. If you've done this kind of assembly before, it was a snap. But I had to work with them before I understood how they securely connected the pieces. It was hard to find the little triangular arrow imprinted on the metal, but once I did, everything went fairly quickly and easily. The desk is well-worth the effort and is very sturdy and well made. I'm very glad I decided to order it. (Oh, and you do need some help because the top is heavy and you don't want to scratch the finish. So make sure you have a friend, spouse or SO nearby.)

Very solid piece of furniture once assembled. Attractive color looks exactly like the photo online. Very generous dimensions. I have a computer tower and printer on the desk that fit on each side of my monitor. Plenty of room to work. Assembly takes about 2 1/2 hours if you know what you are doing (I've assembled a number of pieces of furniture.) and are working alone. Most will not be able to put the top on the desk alone, however. I have a large wingspan that allowed me to get the job done. Better to work as a pair. Desk comes in two boxes, so, here again, you may need assistance. Good price according to quite a bit of internet research. Could not find a better value on the web or in stores.

This desk came with about 80 pieces and was surely not fun to assemble, but it is a beautiful desk, great size, and good price.

This desk is very nice looking once it is all put together, but getting there is more than frustrating! I have put many pieces of furniture together without problem, but these directions are really bad and the drawers were very hard to get even. Now that it is put together I have received several compliments on it, but I am still not sure if it was worth it. The color is very dark (I have many espresso pieces and this was quite a bit darker than anything else) but it still looks very nice with the other espresso pieces. I didn't care for the hardware in the picture and had planned on replacing them, however the space is already cut into the desk for the handles to fit prefectly (no replacing). I ended up really liking the hardware once I got it in (not as shiny as the picture shows).

This desk looks very nice once it's all put together, but unfortunately, comes almost totally unassembled. Only the keyboard tray and legs come put together, and one of the legs fell off during assembly. I was able to fix it myself, but wasn't very happy. Total assembly time was well over 2 hours, not including time to fix the broken leg.

Looks good, feels solid, not TOO hard to put together, although you should probably have a friend to help move it after it's assembled. The only thing that doesn't work perfectly is the little magnet that holds the keyboard drawer shut. It's too weak, or improperly placed, but it doesn't do what it's meant to.

My husband and I bought this desk for our home office. We new that it would require assembling. However, we did not expect that it would be SO complicated. The desk came in two boxes with numerous pieces. Additionally, the hardware did not fit and required special tools. Bottom line, if you are not handyman DO NOT buy this desk. We finished up with hiring a carpenter to assemble the desk.

It took my husband (who is great at putting things together) three hours to assemble. If he had not been there, it would have been put back in the box. The product looks great but too much work involved in getting it to that point. Don't buy unless you have lots of time and patience

Great desk, excellent quality, heavy/solid wood. The instructions are well-written and detailed, however, if you are not use to assembling furnture, I would recommend having some help. I didn't have the desk top 100% flush against the legs/base and it through off each drawer leaving them uneven. I had to bring another person to help retrace my steps and assemble it correctly. By the way... it looks black in the picture, but it is a true "dark espresso" as it says in the description.
