Customer Reviews
I highly recommend the Refurbished Wolf Gang Puck Frozen Dessert Machine. It works great and is a great value. I am able to make coconut milk based ice cream recipes that are made with agave or coconut sugar that are so much healthier and delicious! Most ice creams are too sweet for my preference. By making my own I can reduce the sweetner used. This unit is a must have and extremely easy to use. The consistancy of the ice cream is perfect. You have yummy ice cream in 20 to 40 mins. My husband loves the ice cream as well. At last, it is just fun to be able to make your own homemade ice cream.
I bought this about 3 weeks ago and have made about 10 batches of fruit sorbets and 2 batches of ice cream all of which turned out really, really good. The machine makes ice cream in about 30 minutes and clean up is very easy; you just pull off the top and remove the bucket. It is fairly loud when running so I put it in the laundry room and close the door when it's running. I've had only one problem so far, the knob for the timer is made of soft plastic and when I tried to turn the knob to stop the machine it didn't turn it just twisted and tore. I pulled the knob off and replaced it with a knob I had saved off of a broken EuroPro toaster oven that I used to have. The knob fits perfectly. I think most toaster oven manufacturers use this same type of knob. I didn't bother to see if Wolfgang Puck sells replacement parts, and even if they do you'd have to order them by the dozen. Replace the control knob with one of better quality and keep the machine. It's too soon for me to comment on the durability of the rest of the machine but, so far it's worked wonderfully and I am glad that I purchased it. As a side note, I received the machine on Friday and the following Monday my husband was informed that he was allergic to milk products! As the doctor was explaining this I was sadly thinking about my new yummy ice cream maker and how I wasn't going to be able to use it. But all's well, ends well and I've found that I love frozen sherbet and fruit sorbet. Pour in some fruit juice and turn it on. Yummy. I've also been experimenting making milk free vanilla 'ice cream" using Almond Breeze milk substitute. I added 1 egg yolk, vanilla extract and Xylitol (taste wise you won?t be able to tell that it?s not sugar. It?s natural, healthy and is safe for diabetics). Anyway, although it was slightly less creamy than regular ice cream, the taste was exactly the same and to top it off it?s half the calories of regular ice cream.
i have made 2 batches of icecream in my machine both were very good. the machine is very nosie but makes very good icecream in 35/40 minates. i thank i will keep itas it is what i have alwas wonted.
I bought the chromed-plastic edition of this machine when it was available, and I've churned about 40 quarts of ice-cream, sorbet, gelato, frozen yogurt, and sherbet in the past year. WGP frozen dessert machine is similar to the Cuisinart machine for a lot less money. I am pleased with the machine's durability and appearance (it sits on a counter in the kitchen and does not take up much room). The 1.5 quart bucket provides enough frozen dessert to satisfy about 6 adults; however, I usually churn up 2-4 different flavors with added toppings, since the small bucket encourages one to experiment with different flavors. About 25-35 minutes gets you a soft-serve to eat immediately or transfer to an air-tight container to harden-off the mix in the freezer for an hour before serving. The cons: 1) noisy - run the machine at a different time and/or place if conversing; 2) get plenty of exercise, since I usually end up imbibing 1 cup of frozen delight daily. Even with plenty of exercise, I gained 5-7 delicious pounds over 1 year. Good Luck!
