I read several reviews from other sites before buying this item. All commented on the flimsy design and typical problems, all true. When I bought this machine, I was replacing my Salton, combo Coffee/Cap/Espresso maker which I had for over 15 years and still makes amazing espresso. That machine was practically indestructible. So - buyer beware- If you can get past these issues (which I find minor), this machine makes great coffee, cappuccino & espresso. - Looks good but construction is very flimsy. Worst of all, the stem on the swing-out filter cup on the coffee side could be described as "delicate". I set up coffee in advance; so, that, the men in the household don't have to attempt to be gentle. I give it 6 months before it breaks. (that's with my precautions) - If you grind your own, too fine on the coffee side will cause a spill-over and a mess. (nice feature-at least when it happened to me-it shut the coffee maker off before all the water went through, which wasn't mentioned in the manual - yes - I read it) - Don't use more than 6 coffee scoops, this too, will cause a spill-over. - Common with home espresso makers - the steam allowance for scalding milk is too short. My advice is make the espresso- then run another cycle for cappuccino milk. - Takes time and practice to learn its quirks (true with most appliances) What's good -- ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES AT THE BEST PRICE.
I hate it and don't use it, Takes a lot of space, Frotter is super loud, Parts are cheap, plastic, But most importantly, The heating plate got rusted after just few months. And I don't use it every day, it looks like coffee stain, that you can't clean, or you are too lazy to clean, so it looks discusting. To frotte milk takes too much time, so I ended up buying a separate frotter, so I won't wake up whole apartament, and yes, it is NOT recommended to make less than 4 cups of coffee, so the rest it's a waste, if it's only for one person :( Overall, super short power cord you can hide inside of the unit, but that's the only good thing about it.

I have never owned a coffee machine before, however, my mother thought it was time! The West bend 3 in 1 is very easy to use, and I have been completely satisfied with it so far. I haven't tackled the espresso side as of yet, but it seems to be very user friendly. I would recommend the product to friends.
The only 3 in 1 I found. Works well, not 100% durable, but takes up little space & looks nice. Works for what I needed it for without having to spend $300.00
I've had this machine for a couple of months now and have had a lot of problems with it. When making regular coffee, it usually spills over and makes a big mess and the coffee ends up with grounds in it. On the rare occasions where it does work properly, the coffee is lukewarm, not hot at all. The espresso side seems to work okay, but the placement of things is awkward, plus the steamer doesn't last as long as it needs to. This is my first espresso machine so maybe they're all like that, I don't know. But I would not purchase this machine or recommend it to anyone. I plan on buying a different machine.
So far I have had great luck with this coffee machine. I have read other reviews that say it is a bit touchy and not very well put together so I am hoping that I don't have any issues with it, but so far it has served its purpose and done a great job for the price I paid. It was much cheaper than other models that I saw in stores.
I got this product for my girlfriend a few weeks ago and have no complaints. The product is a little difficult to figure out at first, once you make everything the first time it is all very easy. Aspects of the product seem like they're made out of slightly weak plastic, but other than that it's great. Coffee and cappuccino has been made multiple times a day for a few weeks and there has never been a problem. The coffee is always hot and delicious. If you get this product try using flavored coffee cream instead of milk for the steamed milk. It's delicious!
The cappuccino part of the machine quit making steam for the froth after only two (2) uses. Any appliance should last more than twice. The machine takes forever to heat up to brew the coffee and once brewed, the coffee is not hot but tepid when it comes out, supposedly ready to drink. Frankly, I wish I had not purchased the coffee maker. It's a waste of hard-earned money. I don't want the aggravation of having to return this piece of trash so I've thrown away good money for nothing--money that could have been well used elsewhere, especially in the current economy. I wouldn't recommend this thing to anybody. BUYER BEWARE!
I enjoy very much having friends over and when they noticed my new toy, they just could't belived it. Coffee is excellent , it is like having an Italian professional expresso coffee machine at home. It is the best!
While this model looks good and does a good job making espresso, I am not pleased with the craftmanship of the coffee maker carafe lid. When I first bought my machine I had to return the carafe as the little button in the top (pause and serve) was broken. I've only had my machine for 3 years and the carafe lid is broken once again. I, too, have had issues with water filling up in the filter and coffee not brewing all the way. The drip mechanism sticks and I clean my machine each week. I guess I'm not totally sold on this 3-in-1. I'd be better off with separate machines. Heard it's been discontinued. Probably a good thing, at least temporarily, until the designers/engineers can come up with something that works. I don't mind paying for a good machine as long as it's going to last. This was moderately priced and I guess I got what I paid for. BOO!!
I've owned my WestBend 3-in-1 for nearly 6 years and up until about a week ago, I never had a problem with it. I found it easy to assemble and break down for cleaning. Now it isn't pushing out the coffee through the espresso maker. I've cleaned it numerous times with vinegar, but it's still not working. I am still able to steam milk for my latte's, so I'm not sure what the issue is. The only problem I had early on was when the auto-shut off mechanism that stops the flow of coffee when you pull the pot off the hot plate in mid-brew broke after only a couple of pots of coffee had been made. Not a big enough issue to want to return the machine. I recently contacted WestBend to see if they still produced this coffee maker because I would like to purchase another one. However, I was told this model has been discontinued. This machine has a small footprint and looks good on the counter. It's easy to clean and very quick to brew a regular pot of coffee or prepare a latte.
While difficult to figure out how to put together this little gem makes coffee making fun! Therefore - worth the effort.
