Customer Reviews
Assembly for this item was a real pain. The instructions are not the best and some of the instructions seem questionable. Why would I want to *glue* pieces together... what am I supposed to do with the bed if I ever need to move?!Well at the price it cost, I suppose you just trash it or sell it with the house... but in any case, the bed did look fairly nice once it was assembled. (Assembly took over 2hrs. You will probably want someone to help with assembly. I am a fit early 40s guy and had trouble wielding and assembling some of the large pieces on my own.)But once all the screws and bolts are tightened, the piece does seem quite sturdy. I saw no flaws or nicks anywhere on the finish as I unpacked it. The quality seemed very good for the cost. Do note though, the bed is rather high and your mattress will be quite high up with this bed.
I am so please with this purchase! I read all the reviews from previous customers and they are spot on. The wood is dark (almost a black), heavy, well constructed, looks like I paid a lot more for it than I actually did..... and it's just....gorgeous! I ordered it on a Sunday and had it by Friday. I have nothing but good to say. If you follow the instructions the bed will go together relatively easy. I put this bed together by myself and did so with in about 3.5 hours. I do not have any power tools and did it only with the tools sent. It took some 'elbow grease' to attach the support boards but all-in-all I did just fine. I have since ordered the 6-drawer dresser and the 3 drawer nightstand. I have been looking for a bedset that was high quality and at a good price...it took 5 years for me to find this and I'm so glad I waited! I am just thrilled!
I love it, I'm so pleased with it. It was a bit of a challenge to assemble but well worth it. I would do it again if I had to.
I have to agree with everyone else. This bed is absolutely stunning. The quality is spectacular for the price. It really is very sturdy, the wood is really heavy and solid, and the color is exactly as depicted here (very dark brown, almost black). Even the slats to go under the box spring are decent solid wood, finished in the same color. I love, love, love it. Even my parents who are very particular about these things and have everything high-end commented on how nice it is and how they want something like it for their bedroom. I did assemble it on my own and I'm not very strong, so it was a really grueling process. It came in 3 huge boxes that were left outside my door, so it took me awhile just to get the boxes inside and unpacked, but everything was there and in perfect condition. It took me a total of 3-4 hours to completely finish assembly by myself without a power tool. Between screwing in 18 long screws with a little hex wrench at an awkward angle, pounding the molding onto the top of the tall headboard, and trying to attach the footboard and headboard to both side rails all at once, it was pretty difficult to do on my own, but it was completely worth it. I love it! I will probably be buying more furniture from Overstock (after I buy a power drill/screwdriver).
We received our bed and the headboard was cracked. Overstock replace it but as we were assembling it, it started to crack again. The quality is not very good. It looks beautiful now that we have it together but I just hope we never have to take it apart again.
