I bought one of these chairs and was very pleased with it....nice looking and very sturdy. So I ordered a second chair, same name and company, but received a chair that is a couple of inches narrower than the first and has a different stain. I bought the second chair at a discounted price, but there was no indication that there was any difference in the chair...I assumed it was on sale the day I bought it. The chairs are the same shape so I will keep the second chair and assume that they will eventually weather to look the same. I much prefer the first chair, which I highly recommend, but am wary of buying a third as I'm not sure which one I will get.
Overstock sent these heavy chairs with very low shipping and they arrived promptly. My husband complained a bit about the screws not being correct and replaced them, and there was one slat that seemed unfinished on the bottom, but they are strurdy and I like them a lot. They look as if they will last a long time. They were a very good value in a market where you can break the bank looking for chairs. Thanks
The Ward chair arrived sooner than I expected. It took my sister's help to assemble it. There was a large chip in the wood on the seat panel near the outside edge which I can live with. One portion of the back where it attached to the side was not square, that is the groove where they fit together(dowel into groove) was not straight making it impossible to line up. By using a wood file I was able to make the groove accommodate the dowell. The chair is handsome and sturdy and I like it a lot. I am not a perfectionist so can live with the flaws but I would suggest better quality control.
These chairs are heavy and attractive. My only negative comment is that the factory could have sanded them a bit better in a few places. Overall they are a very good buy and look like a quality product.
Overall a good value. One the plus side, the wood is beautiful and very sturdy. The chair looks just as terrific as it does in the photo. The assembly instructions are very clear and easy. On the down side, one of the chairs I ordered arrived with a small chip in the wood (fortunately its underneath, so it doesn't show), and some of the pre-drilled holes were not drilled deep enough for the screws to be flush, so I had to do some drilling (you're supposed to be able to put it together with an allen wrench). Also, the screws they give you to affix the seat portion are too short and barely make a connection with the piece they are being screwed into: I ended up using my own screws there. Also, the wood is a little rougher than I thought it would be. Overall: I would buy them again.
love these chairs-they were EASY to assemble and look as good as our teak for less than 1/2 the price-would highly recommend.
