Rich and Elegant but Challenging to Assemble
I read all 40 product reviews on this site before I ordered and so I was under no illusion that the assembly would be a breeze, though I had no reservations about the appearance and the quality of the console table. I even printed out two sets of reviewer comments referring to some mistake(s) in the assembly instructions so my boyfriend and I could familiarize ourselves for the task that lied before us. First, let me say that my faith in the reviewers' comments about the quality and appearance of the product was well placed: the console table is simply beautiful after it's been assembled. But the process was painful, to say the least. It took my boyfriend a total of 2.5 hours the first evening to put it together and then another hour of redoing the drawer slides/rails the next morning. And that's WITH the benefit of advance warnings from reviewers about mistakes in the manufacturer's instructions. The bottomline is this: When you get towards the end of the assembly instructions where they start talking about how the drawer slides should be fitted into the empty compartment for the drawers, just know that the left and right slides as pictured and described in the instructions are reversed. Once you reverse the left and right drawer slides (doing the opposite of what's instructed), then the drawers will go in (and pull out) properly. Again, I'm referring to the slides THAT GO INSIDE THE EMPTY COMPARTMENT THAT HOUSES THE DRAWERS. Two reviewers here commented on problems with the instructions except that they didn't include the specifics. I would still recommend this console table despite the sloppy instructions. Good luck and enjoy this rich, beautiful console table, especially at such an incredible price!

Oh, the agony
I'm a single gal. This table took me 6+ hours to put together. While the end product looks nice, I was about ready to throw this hunk of wood out the window by the time I was done. I don't have an electric screwdriver. I have three manual screwdrivers. I had to use all of them. My hand hurts like hell, and the screwdrivers are all so worn out now that they are practically non-functional.... the metal on all three is stripped. Plus, I find the locking dowel mechanisms a true pain. The huge, heavy wood piece on top will not stay on, no matter how many times I tighten the dowels. I got a pretty good deal on this piece, but would have considered paying someone $100 to spend the six hours building this thing. If you're single and don't have a friend to help you, think twice about buying this thing.

Perfect
Perfect. What more can I say? I needed a stand for my flat screen and this was the perfect size, style and color. You're probably apprehensive about ordering over the Internet. Don't be. I can't imagine you will be disappointed with this piece. A few words to the wise. Yes, as others have stated, it takes awhile to put together (3 hours for me and I'm really good at stuff like that) but the directions are laid out great. Some of the hardware can be difficult to install. Just be sure to have a medium sized standard screwdriver as well as a Phillips. I know they say the Phillips works but I found the standard makes it much easier for most. Also, you have to attach the drawer slides yourself and there are no pre-drilled holes for this. Make sure you take your time with this because it's the very last step and after 3 hours you want to just be done, but it will make or break how the table looks. Oh and in case you're wondering, my flat screen is a 46" with a super-thin bezel and it looks great on this table. I would think a 40" and a 52" would look great too, although the 52" will probably hang over the sides. Anything larger than 52" and I would say this is not the table for you. (Or you can trade me TV's and let me worry about finding the right size table! Haha!) Good luck!

Nice Piece
It is a nice looking piece of furniture though the quality of the wood is not the highest. While I was putting it together some of the veneer chipped and it seemed that some of the pieces started to split some, but it is hardly noticeable. It was a challenge to put together but all in all a good piece of furniture if you're looking for something that looks nice and fits the budget.

Well built table
If you like the style buy it! The unit is very solid and assembly is straight forward but not simple, there are many parts. There are always extra connector parts so don't worry about losing anything. I've purchased all three Wakefield peices and been very pleased with each. They look great together and I expect to be around a long time.

We love this product
My wife and I love this product. It is heavy, and made of quality materials. In some of the other reviews, some felt that the instructions were difficult to follow. This couldn't be further from the truth! I assemble things often, and these instructions were, by far, the easiest to follow. The hardware was clearly marked, and extra pieces were included (nuts, bolts, screws, nails, etc). Had I not misplaced my phillips head screw drivers, followed by misplacing the instructions (the dog knocked them under the sofa while I was looking for the screw driver), I would have done in 2 1/2 hours. If you haven't invested yet in a cordless screw driver, I strongly recommend it. It makes this job a breeze.

we loved this piece!
this piece was easy to put together and its great quality. we only had a little issue with the drawers.. when putting them together be gentle bec. we cracked the side of one (nothing a little glue couldnt fix.) we love the color its the perfect size for behind our couch. and the style is exactly what we were looking for, simple and clean.
