This is the first drill press I have ever owned and I really could not see a big usage for the drill on my part but I had some rosettes to drill and some holes on a 15 degree angle to drill. I must say the drill press performed like I expected it to. Delivery was very quick. That was unexpected but welcome. Upon assembly the battery compartment for the laser was missing one side of the springs to hold the batteries in. A call to Wen got me a replacement. It installed easily (but I would have preferred not to have to do it) but in trying to align the laser pointer one side just would not hold the position I set it on. Then it quit working altogether. So I just used the drill press without the laser. The laser would have been a nice feature but not necessary to the performance to the drill. I felt it is a good value.Read More

The overall height is: 28-1/4" The Chuck to table dim. is: 9-3/8” or a nominal 10"
what is the motor horsepower?
For this unit the Motor : 1/2 HP.
3.2 amps x 120 v = 384 watts 1 hp = 746 watts 746/384 = 1.94 just a tad under 1/2 hp
This is a single phase motor so the horsepower is: 1/3 HP The formula is: 3.2 amps x 120 volts x 75% efficiency / 746 = .386 hp
Does it accept drill bits or does it just drill via laser?

Types of Drill Bits
When you need to drill holes for an automotive or home improvement project, the right drill bits can make your life a lot easier. A wide array of drill bits have been designed for drilling wood, metal and other materials. Described below are several common drill bit types that you may find in drill bit sets or as power tool accessories that come with a cordless drill or drill press.
How to Choose a Cordless Drill
A primary consideration in choosing a cordless drill is how you will use it. Cordless drills are excellent tools because they can be applied to a number of projects and eliminate the fuss of finding a power outlet or wrapping the electrical cord around you and your work. Spend a little time researching the type of drill you need before you purchase one.
How to Operate a Power Drill
Power drills are used for many different tasks, from hanging pictures in your home to heavy-duty construction projects like structural framing. The level of power classifies power drills: a drill may be used for light work, medium work or heavy-duty work. A good all-around drill will have several speeds and allow you to use an array of drill bits. Like any power tool, when operating a power drill, safety should always come first.
How to Choose Power Drills
A power drill is one of the most useful tools you can have in your home. Power drills come in a huge range of styles and feature many capabilities, from screwing craft projects together to full-blown construction applications. Drills range in price from low to very high, but many drills suitable for the homeowner or hobbyist are available in a reasonable price range. It's simply a matter of choosing the power tool that's right for you.
How to Sharpen Drill Bits
Many homeowners are unaware that their drill bits require regular sharpening to give their best service. Just like knives and axes, a dull drill bit requires more force to do the same job. Instead of wearing out your muscles, a dull drill bit will inevitably wear out your drill. The best way to protect your investment in high-quality power tools is to give your drill bits regular spot sharpening with a file. Use a grinder or visit a professional sharpener if the bits become really dull.
Power Drill Safety Tips
When it comes to using power tools, a little knowledge goes a long way toward preventing injuries and prolonging the life of your tools. If you frequently use a power drill in your home improvement or automotive projects, you may know the basics of drill safety already. Below are some power drill safety tips that will help you protect yourself and your tools. Some of them may seem new or just a good safety refresher.
What to Look for in a Cordless Drill
Having a cordless drill in your tool collection means you're prepared for just about any home improvement project. Cordless drills are portable and powerful power tools that enable you to install just about any fixture and take apart nearly anything put together with screws. There are a lot of factors to consider when choosing a cordless drill that can make them easier to use and more durable. Here are some tips on what to look for.
Top 5 Uses for Cordless Drills
Cordless drills operate on rechargeable batteries, allowing the user to snap in a battery pack and enjoy instant drill power without a power cord. While these cordless drills are useful for numerous applications, some uses are more popular than others. Perhaps the most versatile item in the carpenter's toolbox, the cordless drill substantially reduces the labor necessary to complete many projects. As long as the battery pack has a full charge, you can use your cordless drill anywhere; you don't have to be near an electrical outlet.
How to Choose and Use Power Tools
There's no question that the right power tool can help you complete the job more efficiently than traditional hand tools. The success you have with your power tools is dependent on purchasing the right tool and using it safely. For many do-it-yourself home improvement projects around the home, portable power tools, such as drills and sanders, are ideal because they can be easily stored when they're not in use. If you're outfitting a garage or workshop, you'll likely be considering stationary tools, such as table saws and drill presses, as well as more portable power tools.

Best Types of Tile for Kitchen Countertops
Tile kitchen countertops are an affordable alternative to traditional solid stone units. Countertop tile can be made from many of the most popular materials, such as granite or quartz, yet costs just a fraction of the price. Tile countertops are also easy to install and repair, making them the perfect project for the DIY homeowner. Ceramic. Ceramic tile is made from natural clay that is baked to remove excess moisture. It is available in a wide variety of colors and designs that can be mixed and matched to any kitchen. Ceramic tile is affordable, easy to install and very low maintenance. It is also waterproof and able to withstand high temperatures from hot dishes. If you choose ceramic tile for your kitchen countertops, you should be aware that ceramic tile can crack or chip if heavy objects are dropped on it. To minimize grout stains, you can choose a dark grout and use a grout sealer to protect the seams from dirt. Mosaic. Mosaic tile comes in tiny 1-inch square units. It is often sold in large sheets that are attached to a mesh backer-board, making for easy and fast installation. These tiles can be mixed to create unique patterns and textures, and are very durable. One advantage of mosaic tiles is that they are colored all the way through, so a chip or crack will not be as visible as with ceramic tile. Granite. Granite tile is a natural stone product that is widely popular in kitchen decor. Tiles made from granite offer the beauty of natural stone at a fraction of the cost. Granite tiles often have a mottled surface that helps to hide dirt and fingerprints and are incredibly strong and long-lasting. Like all granite products, these tiles must be sealed after installation and at least once a year for the duration of their use. Quartz. Quartz tile is a manufactured product designed to look similar to granite while offering superior performance. It is made from crushed quartz crystals pressed together with resin. Quartz tile has a smooth and uniform surface with a consistent grain. It is slightly less expensive than granite and is much more durable and long-lasting. Unlike granite, quartz tiles do not need to be sealed. They are completely nonporous, which prevents bacteria from becoming trapped in the surface. Quartz cannot be repaired as easily as granite, however, and it offers none of the natural beauty and color variation of real stone. View All Tile Back to Guides Directory View All Tile
