Pros: Nice design and good size. Reasonably sturdy and solid. Construction, said my husband, was an easy 45 minutes. Instructions were clear......................................Cons: The color is not nearly as rich as the picture suggests. This is my biggest disappointment. It is a dark walnut brown with no depth or hint of red tones. The surface of the desk has a matt finish, which gives it a cheaper look. The insides of the two small drawers are made of a very cheap looking and feeling black material -- almost plasticy (though I don't think it is plastic). This is not such a big deal, as it is only visable when the drawers are open. And the knobs, as others have noted, have very sharp corners; a problem as the keyboard tray knob already has caught my leg. Ow!....................................Overall, a solid piece. I don't regret buying it, as there was nothing of that size/color available locally. Value is so-so. I would recommend to a friend, with the above caveats.

My wife and i have been looking for a writing desk to fit in our sun room for a few months. Either the desks are too big, too small or cheaply made. This desk is the perfect size and very functional. It looks like quality furniture and the finish is very nice. With the exception of the drawer inserts, the desk is made of solid wood and is very sturdy when assembled. I am very pleased with the quality, and the price can not be beat. Assembly instructions could be better, but all in all, the assembly was easy. Recommend the manufacturer include a 4 mm hex to make it easier to assemble.

It took quite a while to assemble this, and I am typically pretty adept at these things having done a ton of them! The cam locks don't turn easily and its not clear how far to turn them to make sure they are locked. The instructions could be a bit clearer as they do not point out a few places where orientation of the parts really matters and can easily be put in wrong. That being said, this is a very solid piece of furniture. Heavy weight (literally) and sturdy unlike many that seem flimsy and wobbly. The drawer glides are a bit stiff, but I imagine they will loosen up with lubrication. I think I will get a glass top to keep the surface free from scratches.

I was impressed first of all how promptly the desk arrived. Seemed like I barely ordered it and it was delivered. Overstock was very good in E-Mailing me the progress of the shipping. Desk arrived and it was easy for my office staff to assemble and went together quite easily. We may change the drawer knobs as they are a little sharp and would prefer round knobs, but overall the desk is great and we are contemplating ordering several more for our medical offices. My husband and I got this desk for our den, and we love it. It's a great size, big enough, but not too big. The wood is beautiful; it's very solid and has a nice sheen to it. The desk is very stylish and also sturdy, so it's a good combination of form meeting function. We took the advice of other reviewers and switched the knobs to a nice oval shape. The drawers are sturdy and roll well, and are big enough to hold regular 8 1/2 X 11 papers, as well as pens and note pads, etc. The keyboard drawer does not have a lid that flips up to hide the keyboard when the drawer is slid in under the desk, but it hasn't bothered me at all, and I'm pretty picky about stuff like that. We have a large ergonomic keyboard and it fits fine in the keyboard tray. Overall, it seems to be a really quality piece of furniture, and the price was right. We searched for a long, long time for just the right desk and feel we made a terrific choice.

Assembly of the product was pretty involved. You even need to install the drawer slides. After taking a few hours putting the desk together, I noticed that one of the pieces was cracked. I'm not happy about it, but the hassle to take it apart, have a new desk shipped, and put the new desk together is not worth it. Other than the crack, it's a nice looking, functional desk.

My wife and I wanted a simple writing desk for our granddaughter, one with a clean lines and a couple of drawers for pencils, etc. Searching for one was frustrating until we saw this one The add said it was made of solid rubberwood which, I found through research is a hardwood used in upscale furniture. We took a chance and ordered the desk. Assembly was relatively simple but the instructions were unclear in a couple of spots and I did need to predrill for the drawer slides. Bottom line, it looks great and I believe our granddaughter will have a solid desk she can use well into high school or beyond.

This is a beautiful writing desk that looks elegant once completed. The enclosed instructions and assembly process is very easy. We are very happy with this purchase. As always, Overstock does a excellent job with order processing and shipping.

We replaced a 6 foot Desk with this one (4 foot ) and was able to get everything back in this Desk, now the room looks bigger and this Desk looks more like furniture. Went together in less than an hour.

When we received and opened the box, i was amazed by the color. The wood has a gorgeous finish and is just fabulous. It's not diffcult to assemble AT ALL. the instructons are really clear and the finished product was very sturdy and stable. I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!! I can't believe the price also!! It is a gorgeous, GORGEOUS table! And my studious daughter loves it, the drawers aren't bulky yet can contain many things. The leg space is perfect for any sized chair and I would recommend this product to everyday! The value of this desk is so much more than the listing price, so buy it ! (:

I had expected a long assembly process from other reviews, which was accurate. I would say altogether it took me about 3 hours, but that included unassembling things after I realized I had put it together wrong, and meticulously laying out all the pieces. Others mentioned that the instructions aren't terribly clear, and I would second that... it wasn't clear until I tried to put the drawers in exactly how the railings were supposed to go, and I got it wrong half the time.I would also recommend having a drill available. Instructions say a screwdriver, but I got a few blisters using a screwdriver to drill holes in the drawers.But I have to say that out of all the unassembled furniture I've bought, this has gone together the best. There were no misaligned holes or unlevel lines. It looks very professionally done and while I'd like to take credit for my superior assembly skills (ha!), it really has more to do with how well the pieces were cut and drilled.The wood is dark and rich and beautiful. The style is wonderful. I love the way this looks and feels. The drawers open smoothly, the keyboard drawer is at a great height (though the knob is a bit too square for how uncomfortably close it gets to my stomach), and the desk doesn't wobble or tilt at all.

The desk is very classy and seems to be very sturdy. It is a rich mahogany color. It takes some time to assemble but the directions are clear and very easy to follow. The only problem I had with assembly was that one of the screws for the knob on the drawer was too short; I had to go to a hardware store and buy another one for around 78 cents. Overall, I think the desk is worth the price. Since purchasing this desk I've seen others that are cheaper and more expensive in retail stores. None look as good as this desk and most look like they are made of compressed wood or laminates. This desk, to me, looks like real wood and is a quality piece of furniture. I am extremely happy with my purchase.

This desk is great, very classic looking, but with a keyboard tray that you wouldn't get if you bought something older. It isn't bulky but provides space for a lamp, printer, and monitor easily. I really love this desk. It was definitely the perfect choice for us. The MAJOR downside is the assembly. It took my boyfriend two nights after work to put it together and he ended up with a gash on his head from where one of the screws he put in bumped him on the head. But the pain in the butt assembly pays off because this thing has a lot of screws but once they're all in this desk is VERY solid and sturdy.

This is a great desk, looks just like it does in the picture. Very heavy and high quality. It took about 3 hours to set up though. The directions were good, it's just that you literally start from scratch. You have to attached the rollers to the drawers, everything. So to us it was worth it, saved a lot of money by being able to buy a solid wood desk and put it together ourselves. I would definitely recommend it, it is very nice.

It took a while to put together. It also didn't come with any of the tools needed to assemble it, i.e. the simple one piece allen type wrench needed to tighten the "screw" locks. Now that it is assembled I am quite happy with it. It arrived quckly and undamaged.

Desk came in 2 boxes and was fairly easy to assemble. Fits perfectly in a small room with a laptop or an all in one PC. Just Love it!!!

Love this desk - esp. for the price I paid on O. I bought this as a study desk for my 8-year-old, so wanted something that was not laminate and reasonably sturdy, but still decent looking. The Victor desk has checked all these boxes. I also looked at youth desks from some national youth furnishing companies, but couldn't bring myself to pay $600-$800 dollars plus S&H fees. This was a great alternative. Assembly took my husband about 30 mins - not difficult at all (although he is pretty handy). It has enough room for him to work, but isn't so big that it eats up too much space in his room. Love it!
