I LOVE this bed! It is very, very beautiful and excellent quality. Definitely need 2 people for assembly.
When I was researching this bed and reading reviews, I had questions that no one else touched on. So I want to make my review helpful to others that might be looking for the same information instead of just reviewing the shipping, and all the points that have been overreviewed in my opinion.
The bed is true to color in the picture.
Underneath is very roomy, leaving 12.5 inches from floor to underside of slats.
There is 1 and 3/4 inches between the slats and the top of the rails. A 10 inch mattress works perfectly with this bed.
Yes, it is a platform and does not need a boxspring (slats are sturdy) but I do NOT feel low to the ground. I feel the exact same height as when I had a boxspring and mattress.
A pain to assemble alone (especially the headboard) but very easy with two people. Don't let the other reviews scare you about assembly, just get help, it'll go smoothly, and you'll love this bed!
I bought the whole bedroom set and a different line of rubberwood side table for the living rooms. I believe that they are all made by the same manufacturer.
The fit and finish of the headboard and footboard are excellent. All the exposed parts and major structures are of solid wood.
Now some complaints. The edge of the foot of the bed comes to a point and protrudes slightly. This looks esthetically pleasing but is painful on the shins in the dark. The 10-12 supporting slats for the mattress are of a flimsier wood and are screwed directly on to the frame. This may limit the number of times that the bed frame can be assembled/reassembled.
I would definitely buy the Vermont nightstands and cubbord again. Without a drill, plan on 3 hours of assembly time.
I would not buy the bed as it is not as well constructed.
I"ve looked at this bed for the last year and couldn't make up my mind about buying it. I spent a lot of time reading the reviews and in the end that was the deciding factor on purchasing. So I'll do my part and submit a review. First of all, I've assembled some furniture and I had no trouble assembling this bed alone,(didn't want to wait for my husband to get home from work). I'm not sure what others were talking about but the bed is partially assembled when it arrives. All the pieces were well packed and everything was in perfect shape and the manufacturer supplied extra parts which in my book is always a good thing. Timewise it took me about 4 hours but I didn't rush and read the directions first, something I'm not sure other reviewers did. Anyway, this is a solid bed, all wood and even the slats are finished! There is not one inch of raw wood on this bed. In other words- excellent quality. Beautiful finish, sturdy construction, better get yours before they're all gone.
The bed is beautiful and is worth more than the price! It is very solid and heavy when put together. We were going to put it in the guest bedroom, but ended up using it ourselves. It was easy to put together. We are very happy with it! Thanks!
I've been looking at this bed for several years and finally purchased it with no regrets. The bed came in three long heavy boxes and the delivery person didn't even ring the doorbell. I just found them on the front porch.
Before assembling, I took out all the pieces, laid out the hardware packs and read the instructions twice. I put the bed together (female over 50) by myself in about 2 hours 45 minutes with no problems. I used wood glue on the pegs instead of the superglue with a little glue clean up after it dried - no big deal.
I created two little templates to evenly space the slates and a power drill for the screws. I don't like that the slats were screwed in. If I have to take it apart at a later date, the screws will have to have some reinforcement, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
My queen mattress is 60" wide. It says the bed is 68.7" wide. I assume the side rails are about 1" thick, which means there will be over 3" of space between my mattress and the inside of the side rails. It also says the mattress is supported by slats. Does this mean I will see 3" of the slats holding up the mattress on each side of the bed when the covers are pulled back as one gets in the bed? In the photo, the side rails don't appear to stick out over 4" on each side of the mattress. Please clarify how the bed is constructed and why the width of the bed is 8.7" wider than a queen mattress. Thank you.nuisance4me on Oct 17, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
That measurement is taken from the widest points of the bed. If you look at the picture the head board sticks out on the sides. You shouldn't be able to see any slats when your mattress is on this.

My husband and I together weigh about 500. The only issue we have had was with the center support. We had the frame on a wood floor and the supports would angle when the bed moved too much. I would put something underneath this area of the bed frame to support extra weight even if it is on carpet and you should have no problem.lnovell on Jul 1, 2013
Are you able to put a select comfort matress and moving frame in this bed frame?vthoney57 on Apr 5, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello- I would advise contacting Select Comfort for their bed requirements. In my research I see that their bed support is quite sturdy and this frame is made for traditional and memory foam mattresses. Any modifications would need to be advised by the company for your safety. I hope this helps you make a better shopping decision. Have a great day!overstockcustomercare1 on Apr 10, 2013

How are the slats supported? does the bed have any middle legs?bvb1909 on Dec 6, 2012Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
The bed I purchased does have a center leg. Don't know why they would be different from other poster. I raised it up on leg extenders though and the center post wasn't useful. It hasn't been a problem.daoine on Apr 24, 2013
