Gorgeous Bed
I LOVE this bed! It is very, very beautiful and excellent quality. Definitely need 2 people for assembly. When I was researching this bed and reading reviews, I had questions that no one else touched on. So I want to make my review helpful to others that might be looking for the same information instead of just reviewing the shipping, and all the points that have been overreviewed in my opinion. The bed is true to color in the picture. Underneath is very roomy, leaving 12.5 inches from floor to underside of slats. There is 1 and 3/4 inches between the slats and the top of the rails. A 10 inch mattress works perfectly with this bed. Yes, it is a platform and does not need a boxspring (slats are sturdy) but I do NOT feel low to the ground. I feel the exact same height as when I had a boxspring and mattress. A pain to assemble alone (especially the headboard) but very easy with two people. Don't let the other reviews scare you about assembly, just get help, it'll go smoothly, and you'll love this bed!

Great Bed - Once I reinforced it
This bed is really beautiful, but the pegs on the bottom kept falling off. I finally made some of my own and did a little reinforcement, but it doesn't really seem like I should have to do that.

sharp edge and flimsy slats
I bought the whole bedroom set and a different line of rubberwood side table for the living rooms. I believe that they are all made by the same manufacturer. The fit and finish of the headboard and footboard are excellent. All the exposed parts and major structures are of solid wood. Now some complaints. The edge of the foot of the bed comes to a point and protrudes slightly. This looks esthetically pleasing but is painful on the shins in the dark. The 10-12 supporting slats for the mattress are of a flimsier wood and are screwed directly on to the frame. This may limit the number of times that the bed frame can be assembled/reassembled. I would definitely buy the Vermont nightstands and cubbord again. Without a drill, plan on 3 hours of assembly time. I would not buy the bed as it is not as well constructed.

beautiful bed
The bed is beautiful and is worth more than the price! It is very solid and heavy when put together. We were going to put it in the guest bedroom, but ended up using it ourselves. It was easy to put together. We are very happy with it! Thanks!

A little frustrating to assemble
I received the bed quickly and with no shipping damage. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's a bit of a challenge to assemble. I did it myself in about 2 1/2 hours and I consider myself moderately skilled at these kinds of things. One hint - when you are assembling the legs to the headboard - try using a phillips screwdriver to get the bolts most of the way in and just use the Allen wrench for the final steps. Otherwise you pretty much have to use your fingers.

NICE
Mark my words: You WILL stub your toes and bang your shins on the legs. That's my only complaint about this bed. Especially, for us, with limited room around the bed. Otherwise, well-made, solid, heavy and attractive. I found it nice that even the slats have been painted, not that you'll ever see them again. About assembly: As someone else noted, a Phillips screwdriver is useful in place of the hex wrench in spots where it is virtually impossible to use it. Also, a power driver or drill with screwdriver bit makes life a lot easier when attaching the slats. The frame is not pre-driled. We have a 14inch mattress on it, and it is fairly high off the ground.

love this bed been using it for 2 years
This is a beautiful bed. We are using it with a 10 or 12 inch memory foam mattress and you need nothing else. The slats are plentiful and provide a very sturdy base for the mattress. VERY good value. I had a handyman assemble it as I am not terrific or patient with tools. He remarked at how solid it was. Well worth the effort to get it assembled properly. Beautiful wood and color is gorgeous.. just like the picture.

This all wood bed is sturdy and stylish for my son
Bed was ou together by my son alone. Took him 4 hours, using power tools. He said there were no problems/loves the bed.

Totally pleased!!
I am very pleased with my purchase as well as the chest of drawers that is sold with the bed. Very easy to put together. I was sorry the bedside tables were not available when I bought the set--I purchased some ecletic bed side stands from Habitat for Humanity, which fit in perfectly.

A Very Satisfied Customer
I am extremely pleased with this bed. I love its simple design and the richness of its color. I took a gamble on the accuracy of the color from the pictures hoping it would match our existing chestnut colored bedroom furniture. I was not disappointed - it looks like it is part of the set. The bed is very sturdy and well made. It looks like it cost much more. The only drawback was the length of time it took to assemble. The instructions are somewhat confusing and it took much longer than expected to put together. Blessings to my hubby for persevering because the bed really looks great in the room! I would highly recommend this product.
