I read the other reviews and thought that I might have better luck. Guess not. First off when I first got the unit, like the other person said, the screws bolts and brackets were all over the place. Not to mention the fact that the Styrofoam they used to protect the unit was crumbled all over the place. After sorting through all of that we noticed the top was badly cracked on both ends of, luckily, the back of the top. It wasnt bad enough to try and wrap up and send back like the other person said. Next I must say I like the thought behind this next step but it wasnt thought completely out. The whole stand folds open and you have to attached the braces and decorative pieces. The only problem was we had to re-screw ALL of the brackets back in because they had come loose. Such a headache. But we were determined to get it together because it matched our room so nicely. Then trying to get the top to lone up correctly on the stand was pure agony. The screw holes were not matched correctly and after a long hour battle we just decided that leaving one screw out would hurt too much. The wood itself is very deep and rich, I love it. But it does have scratches and dings. The decorative pieces were even hard to line up on the obviously mis-matched holes The easiest part was putting in the shelving and glass. I love the way it looks in our room so I am happy we could make it work, we ended up placing plants on both sides to hide the damage to the top. But this manufacturer should try a little harder next time.
