Wonderful Blackout Curtains
from Palm, PA,  Mar 17, 2007

I work nights and my home gets full sun all day, these curtains are fantastic! I previously had expensive lined drapes hung with closed blinds underneath, and it was still too bright to fall asleep easily. Now with these velvet curtains and closed blinds, I have to turn on a light to see. I LOVE them. I have recommended them to several of my coworkers. I got the navy blue curtains, and they are a deep, rich blue. They look great, and feel very soft. These curtains are exactly as advertized.

Velvet Curtains
from Pendleton, Oregon,  Jul 16, 2006

Apsolutely love these curtains! I have 9 sets of the gold up around my house! I have 3 VERY large windows in my LR, and put these on,which replaced several sets of thermal backed curtains. And guess what? These curtains have tremendously helped in keeping out the cold, and the heat. Along with giving the room a beautiful amber glow from the color. They do come a bit wrinkled though. But not to worry! If you hang them up promptly, the wrinkles will come out. ( after 3-4 days) Or follow the instructions for care that comes with the package. I plan on putting these curtains up around the rest of my house. Thanks again overstock for another wonderful item!

Curtains were great
from Greenville, NC,  Oct 18, 2006

I got my curtains today and they are already hung up and the room looks so cozy and warm with them. They are soft, elegant and sophisticated looking. They are nice and will be sure to keep light out of a room if closed and pulled together. This was my first time ordering from Overstock, and after seeing the quality of the chocolate panels I bought...I will be a loyal customer of theirs!

Velvet Curtains
from Boston, MA,  Sep 4, 2006

I am very happy with my red velvet curtains. I have two huge windows (84 inches long) and these do the trick. They are a wonderful rich red color, a little darker than what you see in the picture. The curtains are a good velvet material, not too thick or thin. Just right. They keep the light out and help maintain the temperature. I'm very, very happy with this product.

Great Value
 from PA,  Jul 11, 2006

These are a great deal alone, but even a better deal that they are excellent in darkening a bedroom! Very heavy and rich. Well worth the money!

Nice decorative piece
from Quakertown, PA,  Jan 8, 2007

Overall these curtains are nice. I ordered the taupe color and was very happy with them. I have the same same complaint as a few other reviewers in that when the sun is out and I have the curtains closed I can see small holes and runs in the velvet fabric, but overall they keep a room nice and dark. For the price it isn't worth my time or money to send them back.

Very poor quality
 from Georgia,  Sep 5, 2006

I ordered a total of 10 pr and found flaws in 7 of the pairs. I didn't open the other 3. The fabric had runs in it and bare spots. Upon close inspection I found that the material was very easy to pull out the back. I am afraid that some people will be very disappointed after they have their panels cleaned for the first time.

GOOD PRODUCT FOR GREAT PRICE!
from Sparks, NV,  Jun 16, 2006

Velvet curtains/fabric can be very expensive. To get the look you want at an affordable price I would recommend this curtain. I purchased these for our master bdrm, however, I hung them dbl fullness over faux wood blinds. The blinds did not keep out the morning sun, but with the curtains over them it works great. I used a tension rod up under the blind header. Eggplant is a deep purple. Also-could be tied back over sheer panels-very pretty accent.

I love these curtains! I put them in my boys rooms and they look great. They block the sun and add a great masculine touch.

Brown Velvet
 Aug 29, 2009

I like these curtains because they are cotton, feel soft, and do a good job of blocking out the light. The fabric is not top of the line, when light is behind them you can see inconsistencies in the cloth, but otherwise it's not noticeable. The extra ruffle on the top is kind of useless. It hangs down at weird angles so I just folded it back so you don't really see it. No need to iron as the directions advise. I put them in the drier for 5 minutes and the wrinkles came out.

Great price, but tiny holes in fabric
from San Francisco, CA,  Feb 28, 2007

These curtains look nice when it is dark outside, and they block a lot of light, so I sleep better. Unfortunately they are unlined which causes a problem. I ordered a "test" set for my bedroom before I decided whether to order for living room. When hung, in daylight, light comes though numerous large irregular pinholes in the fabric, even with a white sheer curtain behind it. I am keeping for my bedroom, but decided not to order for living room based on this quality issue. That being said, velvet curtains I have looked at elsewhere are VERY expensive and so if you don't mind the pinholes (makes them look cheap in daytime, though the surface of the velvet looks good in the dark), or are crafty and can sew an opaque backing on them, they are a good value and may be well worth buying for some people. I have not noticed any bad or moldy odors as another buyer noted, and the wrinkles hung out in a few days.

Below Par
 from Colorado,  Feb 5, 2007

These curtains are horrible. I purchased the red ones. I didn't notice right away, but once I hung them up, the poor quality shined through. There are imperfections through out the material and they look very cheap. I would NOT recommend these to anyone.

Beautiful velvet curtains
Anonymous  from Texas,  Jun 29, 2006

I ordered the taupe velvet curtains over the weekend and received them on Wednesday. I was pleasantly surprised with them. I was looking for curtains that would block the sunlight and look nice too. I got what I wanted with these curtains. They go great with our bedding, too. I appreciate the reviews of other customers. That is what I look for before purchasing on overstock.com. Thanks!

Velvet curtains
from San Francisco, CA,  Mar 28, 2012

These curtais should be labeled Drapes because the qualiy of the Velvet is excellent I purchaed the Navy and wish I would have purchased longer curtains. These are luxury curtains and would have been better used as Drapes in a high end room, not a simple bedroom. You cannot go wrong with this purchase. Much better than pictured online.

I bought the purple, black and a blue color. They are all true to color. I use them as black out curtains, and they do the job perfectly.

You get what you pay for
 from Brandon,Vermont,  Dec 2, 2009

These are perfectly adequate draperies. If not inspected too closely, they look more expensive than they are. There are some runs in the weaving and a few spots where the stitching is not spot on. For our use, which is to keep out the cold, they seem heavy enough to do the trick. And the taupe color is more gold than taupe.

Deep Blue
from Manhattan and Liberty, NY,  Oct 24, 2009

A gorgeous deep, dark blue, the velvet has a short nap, an inexpensive fabric that does not look cheesy when hanging. I'll be interested to see how well they block the cold when the weather turns this winter, because the fabric while a decent weight, is a tad lighter than I expected. Never-the-less, for the price and for the look, I'm pleased, and hope they wear well.

Love these curtains!
from Chicago, Illinois,  Aug 11, 2009

I bought a set of the chocolate curtains for my living room and absolutely LOVE them. The brown really warms up the room and they keep the drafts down around my windows. The best thing though is how much light they block out. They keep most all of the light out of the room when they are closed which is great. I would definitely buy these again.
