Vincent Van Gogh voluntarily confined himself to the asylum in Saint-Rimy de Provence from May 1889 to May 1990.
Probably the most difficult period of his entire life, it would also prove to be one of his most creative as an artist. Painted in May 1889, Irises is vibrant in color and energy. Initially confined to the asylum grounds, Vincent paints the world he sees from his room, deleting the bars that obscure his view. In the asylum's walled garden he paints irises, lilacs, and ivy-covered trees. Although subject to intermittent attacks, van Gogh produces 150 paintings, including some of the most significant of his career, during his stay at Saint-Rimy.

Nice but not what I expected
From the description and the other reviews I thought this was going to be an actual painting reproduction. However, it is just a transfer of the actual Van Gogh onto a canvas. I had been looking forever for a good painting reproduction but couldn't find anything that came close to the real thing. I'm sort of disappointed that it's not a real painting but I kept it because it is a perfect copy of the Van Gogh, which is one of my favorite paintings, and from a short distance you can't tell it's not a painting. If it wasn't my favorite I wouldn't have spent the money though.

Would not choose again as the color was not true. Very dull, diluted. How hard can this be when you're using a computer to generate the color? Supplier should be cautioned about quality.
