We loved watching the Roomba map out the house as soon as we charged it up! Had no trouble recognizing stairs and rugs and even dropped the laptop cord it encountered. Roomba has some trouble with truly massive dust bunnies, but if you keep the tray cleaned and keep cords and clothes off the floor, it'll bump around till it gets most all of them. The corners are a bit difficult as well for this rotund dust muncher, but it does as well as I did with a bulky upright. If your previous vacuum had a lot of snouts and attachments for corners and windowsills, then hang on to it, because Roomba can't get to those well. Where it does excel is in keeping the floor dust and dirt free with nothing to do on your part except emptying the tray regularly, and getting underneath furniture and bathroom cabinets, where it's difficult to get a conventional vacuum to fit.

Every household with a super shedding dog needs a IRobot Roomba to help preserve the sanity of the homemaker. It's uncanny how well that little robot tidies up the place. At first, I used to work the robot every day; now I give it every other day off and am able to keep ahead of the rolling undercoat shedding. I love my dog and my Roomba!

I love this vacuum as it does a great job for me having 3 cats. It picks up all the hair and dust in the carpet. I couldn't have wished for a better vacuum. The tools wand was stiff to use but I am breaking it in. Otherwise a good buy.

I have bought many refurbished items in my past ranging from TVs to cell phones to save money and have NEVER had a problem. Hence my jump at the chance to get such a wonderful vacuum cleaner at such a huge discount since it was refutbished and on sale. The cleaner looked great when we got it. Worked great the first time, the onboard tools were a god-send....then the second time, the tools stopped picking up having no suction. The product sucked but/and the tools did not! By the third time, it conked out completely! Now although I didn't want to deal with an exchange since it was a HUGE HUGE hassle packaging and returning this very large item, the Overstock customer service department handled my disappointment with stellar and professional care. A representative personally emailed me and kept in contact with me throughout the entire return process. Unfortunately, they were not able to send out any packing materials (we had already thrown away the box...dumb move in retrospect...thinking there would be no problem having purchased refurbished products from Overstock in the past. They did pay for return shipping. The other main complaints I have were that I had kindly requested to be reimbursed for the $25+ it cost us for packaging material and at that point I no longer got an email back from the previously helpful agent, never received THAT reimbursement regardless that I sent another email AND the regular reimbursement for purchase of the product took forever to refund. The product arrived back at Overstock much sooner than the refund showed up on our debit account. So, sorry Overstock....this item was LAME!!! I will not purchase a refurbised item from Overstock again...well for sure not one this large...Bummer.

One nice feature of the vacuum cleaner is that it is lightweight and has good suction. It is bagless, but, the fact that it has a very small filter which will need changing often is very disappointing. I regret the purchase.

Just got this to replace a Dyson upright. We have a few low-pile carpets in our home, and lots of hardwood floors. And a lot of stairs. This is a really fantastic vacuum with lots of suction, it picks up ginormous things as well as dust, it's easy to maneuver, and can be easily taken up and down stairs. It's got a HEPA filter built in, so it's suitable for pre-1979 homes that have lead situations, and it's obviously great for anyone with allergies. It does a spectacular job on our floors, upholstery, etc. Is amazing at getting under beds and under sofas. An upright may be better in homes with wall-to-wall carpeting, because the weight of the vacuum will press it more firmly into the floor. But for our home, a canister style is perfect and this is a spectacular canister. It's also less noisy than our old upright, though it's still a vacuum so it's not exactly quiet. Another bonus is NO HIDDEN COSTS. There are no bags to buy. There's no filters to get. You don't need any extra stuff. Huge savings, huge convenience. This is a slightly older model that does't have the "tangle-free turbine tool", the newest floor attachment. It's got an older one that works very well in my opinion. The regular floor attachment has a trigger on the handle that you can use to very easily turn on and off the spinning brush, which is good if you have a delicate carpet or if you have a floor that's easily scratched. It doesn't store as small as I think it should--it actually takes up almost the same room as our old upright. If you want to store it smaller, you have to take the hose off and take it apart a bit. That's an annoyance. But if you're OK with it taking up as much room as an upright, there's a little clip that lets you connect the floor part to the suction part, and then you don't have to take anything apart to store it.

I purchased this robot after having a roomba for a few years. The roomba never worked that great and finally died. I went without for a year, but having three dogs, one with long hair, I decided to shop for another. When I priced the roombas and also the neatos I couldn,t believe the prices. They all started at $300 ! When I saw this on overstock and read the reviews I decided to order it but also bought the 2 yr. warranty for $15. It works great, better than the roomba ever did. It will get stuck in certain places but you learn where they are and you block them off. It will run for 1-2 hours on one charge I am very happy especially since it cost 1/3 of the price of the other brands.

I love this vacuum cleaner! My household has three dogs and two cats. The vacuum picks up hair on the first time thru the rug sweep! My old vacuum took three trips across the rug to do what this does in one sweep. I have back problems and this machine is very easy to push. I haven't tried the tools yet so I can't comment on them. I can do the whole house before emptying the tank. The only fault I find is the placement of the cord. It comes out of the bottom side instead of the normal top location. This means that I have to pull and hold the cord up or it gets underneath the sweeper and causes a problem. I suspect that has something to do with the detachable tank (which I have not tried). I'd buy this product again in a heartbeat!!

Sadly, this vacuum didn't perform as well as our old DC7 Animal upright. We used the newly purchased DC39 canister several times on one rug, then ran the old upright over the freshly "cleaned" area to discover the old vacuum picked up more dog hair than the new vacuum had been able to accomplish in the three attempts to vacuum the same area rug. We will return and exchange for the newest version of a Dyson Animal upright and hope that product performs like the old version. Appears that the canister version is not the powerful vacuum cleaner that we've come to love in the upright version. Upright Dyson may be required if you live with pets!

Our extended family now owns four of these great vacuum cleaners. I use this cleaner for almost all my cleaning. It charges quickly and is easy to clean. I did throw away part of the filter before I learned to detach the inside of the cup before emptying it into the trash. The charge lasts a decent time and allows me to vacuum much of the house. We are sold on this vacuum!

I would recommend all people who have never tried irobot before to give i-robot a try. Not necessary this particular series, but just try to have a i-robot to do the regular vacumn for you. It doesn't deep clean your space, but it is good enough for regular maintainance. It saves you time and energy for family time, or sth else. For us, it saves us money too. We used to hire a cleaning company to come in every two weeks to do the vacumn plus others. But now the robot is doing most of the maintainance, i can have them come in once a month instead. That is a $100+ saving a month. Fran

Vacuum arrived on time and well packaged. Assembled in <5 minutes including time spent reading the directions. Vacuum performs a one would expect from Dyson It came with crevice tool, upholstery tool, and small brush, along with the powered beater bar. Makes vacuuming less of a chore by being easy to maneuver and sucking up everything . Another great Overstock value.

I purchased this vac for cleaning out my car inbetween car washes. It is powerful, and picks up as good as or better than the professionals at the car wash. I like the longer cord that allows me to easily move from front to back of the car. The flip out crevance tool is great for getting into the small spaces. I also use this hand vac in the house for quick clean-ups such as cereal spills in the kitchen or paw tracks from my two dogs returning from a romp in the garden. It's a powerful liightweight that's easy to use and easy to clean.

This vacuum cleaner has the heart of a lion, the sound of a sleeping baby and the capability of a hard worker. Everything arrived as described and we were testing within 10 minutes. So far so good. It does not have a lot of frills such as cord rewinds and places for the tools. Foe the price we paid we are ok with those omissions and very pleased with the performance and ease of use.

The only reason I gave it a 4 star and not a 5, is because I assumed it came with the tangle free turbine tool since it is on the dyson website for this model, but it does not. It does have a mini attachment that we tried to use on the stairs, but it tangled bad, and basically we can't use it. The vacuum itself works perfectly, we filled up 2 canisters in about 5 minutes in our living room which is pretty amazing considering we had another vacuum cleaner that didn't pick up hardly anything. We have 3 dogs and 1 cat and needless to say there is TONS of hair in our home.... this vacuum is perfect for that. I just don't recommend using the mini attachment unless it's just on furniture or something. I think it is worth the money, and I would buy again. Oh and shipping was EXCELLENT. I received in 5 days, and that was over the weekend, so technically it took 3 business days to get to me. I was a little upset that UPS left it at my door because I do think this is an expensive product that should be signed for.

This handy vacuum cleaner is quite the fun appliance. It certainly has the suction power, the maneuverability, and the design everyone raves about. I am very glad to have it and like using it a lot. The only caveat is that the hand tool is quite awkward, since you have to pull this long pole out of the handle, and this long pole makes the hand tool very awkward to maneuver with. And my guess is that the frame won't be able to take much beating, since its all made out of plastic, so be careful when assembling or moving parts around, cause I'm betting something might snap if you force it too much.

I first have to say that I love roombas after my first experience with them which was a 7 year love affair that ended just two years ago. Now that I am leaving this very negative review for this model 650 I realize that I owe it to iRobot to go back and review that first model The Discovery 4210 and give it a 5-star across the board review. - A first generation robot that took care of my hardwood floors and pet hair for 7 years. that review is forthcoming. HERE unfortunately is were the review of the new model 650 begins, and it's all downhill so I'll make it brief. It arrived. It charged, it backed up, turned around, and charged forward, it got stuck on the edge of a 3/4 inch low pile rug (no fluff) til it died with an error message and had to be manually returned to its base with a blinding red error light that would not turn off. Day two: again, reverse, turn, charge forward, stuck on edge of rug (not the fibers, mind you, the edge), error message, pick up return to base manually. Day three: repeat.same "error" message except this time the red error message did not go away when placed carefully on its base. after an overnight "charge" still a red error message and would not start, would not "emergency clean", would not do anything. I'm not even sure it even charged except that the red error light stayed on all night and half the next day not on the base. My thought was with a dead battery it would "reboot" next time I plugged in, yet no, just red error. I was now sad. The love of my life was replaced by a shinier newer fraud of a partner. She never did wake back up after those 3 intense days almost like a cheap date I was so excited to find who turned out to be hooked on smack in my bathroom only to be found dead on the tiles by the fourth day of tumult and heartbreak. Yes, I know I said this would be short, but I do truly have faith in iRobot despite the ridiculous price increases on a technology that in my judgement should be getting LESS expensive over time.

I waited a while to take the giant step into the robtic vacuum world. wow! love this.it feels as if the whole house is just cleaner. having daily vacs done when we didnt get around to it more than weekly before has made such a difference. we have 3 dogs and a cat and plenty of hair. this thing is sort of like a little person...it is such a hard worker! we have area rugs, slate, wood, and travertine in the bath. I am diligent at cleaning brushes and emptying the bin daily. I move the clutter out f the way in the AM before we leave and it is set for 10AM. The dogs get out of its way but are less freaked than I had expected as I have a couple of pretty skittish dogs. the cat could not care less..my husband is totally sold on it and he was quite a skeptic.

Great product--very efficient, even with pesky dog hair, and many assorted tools to get the job done. My husband (the primary vacuum wielder in our family) absolutely loves it and sings its praises every time he uses it. I have to concur that it is easy to use, not heavy, and sucks well. Our dog (a smooth haired fox terrier) sheds so much that he should be bald by all rights, and his hair is almost pine-needle-like in texture, which makes it well-nigh impossible to remove from carpeting and rugs. This vacuum has enabled us to finally triumph over dog hair, at a very reasonable cost to boot. I would highly recommend this product!
