I am really enjoying the cleaning power of the rainbow, but I can see why a lot of them sit and don't get used. Cleaning the sand out of the water canister is a pain. I think a lot of people who have them use their other vacuum for regular cleanings and the rainbow for those days when they have more energy to do a deep cleaning. It definitely does have more power than my 20 yr. old vacuum and the fact that it doesn't require bags is a plus. It's also way better than the ****** I bought only a few yrs. ago- that's going in the garage sale. So, yes, I do recommend it, way better than any other vacuum on the market today.

This is the most power vauumi have owned compared to rainbow, orek and kirby. Its much heavier than orek but well worth the trouble because the performance is unmatched

Only thing is the top part comes apart when I try to carry it from here to there - I just have to make sure I grab it a certain way. This vacuum rules. I had a rainbow and thought that thing was powerful - the first time I used this one - there was a cup of dirt in the canister! Gross but awesome!

I've owed a refurbished Rainbow vacuum before, so I knew what to expect. They do a wonderful job of cleaning. The only thing I found wrong with the vacuum I received was with the hose connection. The snap/button latch at the top of the hose for the power head does not connect properly to the handle.

I have been a Rainbow user for 15+ years and loved it other than having to put it together every time. My favorite household chore, if there is such a thing, is vacuuming and I do it quite often since we have 4 dogs....2 English Bulldogs and one pound puppy that shed like crazy. I read the reviews for this vacuum and called a relative who has one before purchasing. I did my homework! The suction on this thing is AMAZING and I cannot believe what it picked up out of the carpets. GROSS! And I thought they were clean. It works really good but I didn't give it an excellent because I pretty much cannot use the pull out hose. It is so stiff that it is near impossible to use. This means I now have to sweep all the little crevices before I vacuum, which I hate. However, considering that I can just plug it in and go, I still think I prefer it over my Rainbow and am not disappointed with my purchase. When I use the vacuum, I know that my floors are clean. I did get a refurbished vacuum and although I have only had it a few weeks, it seems to work just fine and looks like new. AND I got an amazing price on it! I am not disappointed with my purchase. But that hose thing....ugh! :)

I've been wanting to get a Dyson for so long since I have cats and a dog. I was fully expecting it to wow me, but it didn't. I thought given the Dyson name plus being billed as a pet hair vac that it would suck the living day lights out of carpet. It doesn't. It's really not any better or worse than the other two cyclone vacuums I've had over the years. Furthermore I find the hose/wand to be very difficult to use. It's heavy and awkward for vacuuming sofas...and what to pet owners have to vacuum more often than not? Sofas! Two other negatives are that it doesn't have a very long cord and the small beater bar attachment can't be stored anywhere on the the unit with the other attachments. It is, however, very nice for vacuuming hard floors. It maneuvers very well with the roller ball. All in all I'm glad I didn't spend my money on a new unit!

Incredible suction! Finally! This awesome little vacuum has given me the edge in the war against pet hair! I'm the owner of 3 cats and a dog, and this vacuum has cut my floor cleaning time in half. Great on my rugs, hardwood floors, tile, and laminate! I'm so glad I no longer have to drag out the broom and dust pan! I can just keep vacuuming from one surface to the next, and I can reach my whole house from one centrally-located outlet! It has also worked great for a quick clean-up of white dog hair on my dark brown bonded leather sofas. This is the first canister vac I've owned, but it's so much easier to maneuver than my old bulky up-right vac...I now have no plans to ever own another up-right! I am happy enough with it overall to give it 5 stars, although I do have a few critiques: As others have mentioned, the cord keeper on the bottom is not terribly convenient, but not awful either - I can definitely deal with it. I'm glad it came with 2 bags because I looked for the required size before it arrived, and couldn't find them locally...Will have to order them online, which is a bit of an inconvenience. I wish the floor sweeper attachment was just a bit wider/bigger to cover more area, but the additional attachments included are great for cleaning fan blades, blinds, etc. And lastly, I notice that the plastic of the hose and the attachments is charged in such a way that pet hair sticks to it like a magnet...I end up having to vacuum a large amount of dog hair off the floor attachment when I'm done vacuuming my rugs, but that's not really a bad thing since it means I'm getting up even MORE pet hair! I can't imagine that anyone would be disappointed with this great little vacuum!

I have had reconditioned items before and so I was not surprised that it worked just like new. It is so quit my other Bissell was a hand-me down from my daughter who got it from a friend. I am not sure how long the original own had it but it worked fine but neither owners have pest so I ended up killing it. So when I saw this one specifically stating Pet I was excited. when I got it I put it together (easy) and swept just a small spot on the floor where my dog usually lays, in a few seconds the cup was full of hair and dirt. I did not even see the hair on the floor. I am really impressed with this pet vacuum. I would love to be able to sweep my dog (have a dog brush that can be attached to the vacuum hose) with it but he does not like sweepers. If you have pets this one will do the work. It even gets aspen shavings and hay that my bunny kicks out. When this one goes I will defiantly get another

I bought this vacuum cleaner after the handle on my Hoover "snapped off". For the first time I did research before buying one, and I am SO glad that I did. I was impressed with the reviews and the price was good-if it worked like the reviews promised. It was delivered in 2 days which was great (normal for Overstock.com). It's very easy to assemble and a lot lighter weight than I expected. It has plenty of attachments (I am grateful-I bought an Oreck a few years ago and it didn't have ANY attachments, used only Oreck bags and was hard to push around) and the cord is long enough to clean most of my house without having to plug it in again. I don't remember reading that it was "self-propelled" in the reviews or if it's because it's so lightweight, but the Shark almost vacuums by itself. The head swivels which is quite handy in corners and around table legs. I have two long-haired cats and the amount of hair that was vacuumed up the first time I used the Shark was totally amazing (and embarrassing). I vacuumed my house every day for the first week I had the Shark and I continued getting dirt and cat hair out of my carpet, which is wonderful but doesn't say much for my previous vacuums. I have never been so excited about a vacuum cleaner before, but I've never had one that exceeded my expectations like this one has. The only thing wrong with it-it's a little top heavy when using the wand and can tip over if you pull it by the wand instead of the handle on the top. I wouldn't mind if the hose/wand was a little longer either but overall I am very happy with it and would urge anyone-especially pet owners- to get this vacuum cleaner. You won't be sorry.

I am and have been recommending this to pet owners. I also own a Windtunnel, but thy Dyson animal works better, i think, for the animal hair in the carpets.

I had the opportunity to try this product at a friend's home after she raved about it. Both of us are pet owners which is always the true test for a vacuum. Since I have purchased this, I have been raving too! Vacuum luv!!

I shopped around quite a bit to find a good quality bagless vacuum at an affordable price. This Bissell is exactly what I wanted. It was easy to assemble so don't let having to assemble it put you off. The owner's manual comes with easy directions and all you need is a medium sized Phillips Head screwdriver. 15-minutes from the time I opened the box to the time I started vacuuming with it and discovering all the features! This model was not promoted for pet owners per se but we do have two cats and this unit does the job. Pets or not, I highly recommend it.

It always has power. You save money because you use water instead of filters. It's healthier to use, you don't have dust in the air. It cleans the best ever. You can clean Just about everything. The attachments makes it so vesitile. I would recomend it for Anybody. Love my Rainbow!

I actually love to clean my house again. I had a rainbow vacuum and it did a great job but it was a pain to get out and put water in it and then lug it around the house and empty all the time and refill with water. The dyson is lite and so easy to use. I love how it picks up my 2 cats fur on everything! I will spread the word! Thanks, one happy customer.

Very, very pleased so far. Vacuum did arrive one day later than quoted but not a big deal. Easy to assemble, up and running within 5 minutes of opening the box. We have a very fluffy Husky mix and two cats so hair builds up fast on our mostly carpeted floors. Had borrowed a vacuum before it arrived and this one STILL picked up a TON of hair and dirt that the other had missed. It also cleans spiky sandburs out of the carpet fibers with ease!! Extension tool works really well and adds significant reach. Edging tool works perfectly. Also came with a special pet hair tool (yay!) and a two sided brush attachment. Canister is very easy to clean. Rollers don't clog up. It is light and easy to maneuver and feels like it propels its self along going both backward and forward. Only complaint is that the handle comes unattached. It came off at one point as I balanced the vacuum with it while using the extension tool. The handle does fit on quite snugly so I'm hoping that was a one time quirk. All in all, an excellent vacuum for the price. Now to see how many years I can get out of it!

Received the brown Dyson box from brown, opened it up, vacuum had some wear on the rollers but generally seemed to be in good condition. Put it together and got to work. Whoa! What's that smell?!? Smells kinda like a wet dog. A very strong pet odor. It most likely was coming from the filters. I called Dyson and explained about receiving the refurbished vacuum from Overstock and the horrible pet odor and asked about getting new filters. Dyson rep was not willing to send filters unless I paid retail price for them. I explained that this unit was refurbished and such an odor was unacceptable. The rep suggested I wash the filters in cold water. Ummm, yeah, like cold water is going to remove an odor! Not only that, this machine should have had the filters replaced when it was refurbished at the factory. Dyson rep didn't budge. I said I was going to return the item. Seemed like she could care less. (I didn't indicate I was going to get a replacement). Being a previous Dyson owner, and seeing how well this vacuum worked (in spite of the smell), I called Overstock to inquire about getting a replacement. The O. rep was GREAT! Sales rep had me on the phone all but 2 minutes. In that time she heard my complaint, set up a return with prepaid shipping label, and immediately sent me another vacuum, and didn't even double bill me. Received the second vacuum, put it together and fired it up ... Yea! no odor! Vacuum works like nobody's business! The day before I vacuumed our floors with our old DC17, and this DC41 pulled a surprising amount out of the carpet. This DC41 is suppose to have the most powerful suction of all Dysons. The ball was different compared to the traditional style, but overall is easy to operate. This vacuum is several pounds lighter. The canister is a bit smaller compared to the one on the DC17. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and especially Can't say much for Dyson's customer service, but Overstock's came through. So ding one star for Dyson shipping out the first vacuum with such a horrible odor. Other than that, it is a 5-star machine at the price overstock is charing for refurbished (plus $40 internet coupon).

If its possible to fall in love with a Vacuum Cleaner then It must be love . I have always had a thing for Vacuum cleaners and even sold the Rainbow Mud making Vacuum cleaner door to door in my youth. My collection over the years has made the range from Canisters to Uprights and all BRANDS but once I found DYSON my machines have become a true love affair. I purchased my 1st Dyson upright ( DC07) several years ago and of late because of small plastic parts wearing out I elected to look for another. Having two small dogs under foot and dragging dirt inside from the great outdoors I wanted something light weight and powerful so I turned to the Dyson DC25 Animal Vacuum . This smaller machine pulls the dirt directly out of the pad below the carpet and enables me to turn the brush off with the touch of a button to move right into the Kitchen , baths and laundry area with ease . Its cord could have been another 5 - 10 feet longer but have a small clip on the end of the cord allow quick storage after winding the cord back up on the machine. The Animal Vacuum seems to really pick up MORE than my regular Dyson. I love it.

Rainbow vacuum cleaners are second to none. We purchased one of the original models back in 1991 and it still works fine with virtually no problems over the last 23 years. My wife just wanted a newer version so that's why we went with this model. Overall, the vacuum has been great. It is refurbished and has some signs of wear and tear, but overall the vacuum is in very good condition and works just fine. Recommend this refurbished product - much cheaper than purchasing a new Rainbow vacuum. Hopefully we will get another 20+ years of service from this vacuum as well...
