If it weren't for the fact my husband destroyed the box, I'd probably return this vacuum. It's "just ok dog" ....works pretty well overall but it's VERY LOUD (ear protection seems like a good idea!) and it's quite heavy. It has the self-propel feature which makes it ok to push/pull but it just seems kind of heavy and awkward. Now I wish I had spent more $$ for something with better engineering. For the price though, it's alright.

I have 4 dogs and wool rugs (that I purchased at Overstock) throughout my house. When I vacuumed with my 3 year old Oreck, my carpets never seemed clean, the bags were a hassle to replace and there seemed to be a lot of dirty air coming out of the vacuum cleaner. I could not bear the thought of paying several hundred dollars for a vacuum but wanted a good one this time. I took a chance on the DC41 refurbished and could not be more pleased. All the claims about the suction power are true! My rugs look and feel almost new again. My daughter even noticed and asked me if I had them cleaned. The only negative was that the box which was delivered by FEDEX arrived covered in a sticky, gooey substance (like a slurpee) which someone covered with packing paper and tape. Thankfully the gooey mess did not penetrate the box and the vacuum appeared new with no visible wear on the wheels, dust bin or any other part of the machine. Having combined the already low "O" price with an internet coupon and free shipping, I received this quality product which looks and works like a new vacuum at a super low price. Thanks Overstock!

This is a very handy little vacuum and I love it! It has it's own charging stand and stands up by itself and doesn't fall over like some of the other brands in this category. It is bagless which I also love. I think I will stick with stick vacuums because they are easy to handle and perfect for carpet to floor use. Light weight and great on the stair way. I will recommend this to EVERYONE! Great suction also. Try it.Be sure to charge according to the instructions.

I had the opportunity to try this product at a friend's home after she raved about it. Both of us are pet owners which is always the true test for a vacuum. Since I have purchased this, I have been raving too! Vacuum luv!!

I love the suction of this vacuum! I purchased this for my son but I've been able to use it several times. He thought his carpet was clean...well not according to what this vacuum picked up! I really like the long wand that comes with the vacuum, you can reach places that otherwise wouldn't get cleaned. My only problem with the bagless vacs is just that...they are a little messier, but the great suction makes it worth the extra mess of cleaning it. When my old bag vacuum goes I will be purchasing this for myself.

We bought this vac for our daughter who has a 2 story home, mainly hardwood and tile floors. I have to rate based on her expressions after using it. She LOVES it for these reasons: It's suction is powerful, the handle makes it easy to carry and use up the stairs, the hose has a connecter so it doesn't dangle while carrying, it's easy to empty and shows exactly how much she sucked up. She had borrowed a "Shark" canister vac from a friend, which was $30 or so more expensive, and said this vac is more powerful, and she likes it better. (It also had a bag which was going to increase the cost over time) We liked the price in comparison too. Very happy with her response to this vac.

This is the best vacuum cleaner ever made. My parents have had this machine for over 20 years. Basically I grew up using this vacuum cleaner. Knowing that this is a very well made product I decided to purchase a refurbished one on Overstock. There are a couple of reasons I went this route. First, it's more affordable (new ~$XXXX), and second I would never be able to stand a home visit from one of the obnoxious rainbow dealers. They are truly unbearable. So this was a win-win for us. There are a couple of issues we encountered with the unit we received: a metal wand was bent and had to be replaced (already received from Overstock) and one hose attachment was damaged (replacement in progress). Love this machine and was dreaming of one for a long time. It's a must for any pet owner. I never write reviews (always read them), but I do feel very strongly about the incredible quality of this product. $$ well spent. FOR SURE

Love the way it vacuums all floors, from wood to carpet. Gets everywhere, picks everything up, and easy to use. I can stop when I need to and use the hand vacuum hose to clean hard to get to areas as I vacuum. The hose is a bit stiff and does not stretch out easily, but will work with it and try to learn easier way to use. Been amazed at how much this vacuum has picked up. We've owned Orecks for years and they have done a very good job with our carpets. The Dyson is picking up more than the Oreck, plus not discharing thru the bag back into the house. Much cleaner. Can tell by the canister when I dump it and the dust on my furniture that is no longer there. Very happy.

This is my second ProLux that I am purchasing. I bought one last year and it is truly wonderful, quiet it allows you to even talk on the phone if you need too! I am buying one now for my daughter! She loved using it am my house and now she can have her own. It even has a reuseable bag if you care to be "green", or you can use disposable bags! It is a great price without shorting on quality and suction. You won't be disappointed.

My folks had a Generation 3 they bought 20+ years ago that we finally threw out last year. I kick myself a bit for not discovering sooner that you can send the old ones back to the factory to be reconditioned for a few hundred dollars. Buying it here, I did not have to go through the door-to-door home-sale experience and the price is certainly less than most people claim to have paid buying them new. Just like the one my parents bought, this is mostly made of metal. These are big, solid, and expensive by comparison with other vacuum cleaners. Assembly took ~5 minutes with a screwdriver to tighten the hook that the power cord loops over and everything else snapped together. I read one review that suggested there are two versions of Sentria which are identical, except for the bag they use. The one I received uses the 'F' bags. I have someone come help clean house, so I use it occasionally - it did not receive the cat's seal of approval. :-) It sounds just like the old one and works well. Power assist makes the weight not an issue when on flat floors (versus the stairs). This came with all the same attachments as the one my folks had, except for the sander and floor shampooer. (It's not advertised as coming with these in the description). So far, it's running well - purchased the extended warranty and have not used that. If it's like the old one (and sure seems to be so far) I won't need to.

With a newish allergy to most/venomous arthropods, including the microscopic ones, my vacuum cleaners get put through their paces at least daily. The Opticlean held promise: the size is moderate, manageable. The cord retracts: makes for crazy convenient cord-cleaning, through a surface wipe on its way back onto the reel. The mechanism is pretty flawless. Never failed. You can drag the machine up and down concrete garage stairs by its hose and it will follow happily along. The thing has guts. Thing is, it spills them every time you use it. The dust cup is an obscene design snafu wrought by a team of folks who've never ever cleaned a home before. The dust cups' flaws are many, each fatal. The first emptying may have you consulting the user's manual. Then gawking, muttering, cursing, groaning in disbelief that the crap you just spent money and labor eradicating from your home, at many times an arm's length, allowing for easy-ish removal of, say, tiger moth or carpet beetle larvae from your baseboards and ceilings with not too much risk of [if you're me] eye injury or contact dermatitis, and the loss of pride in the purchase that is about to deny any future business you might have brought to its maker. Emptying the dust up takes something like 6 steps, all require use of both hands, and direct intimate engagement with the [potentially deadly, guaranteed Pigpen-style redistributed] debris. Open the main canister, and find a clear brittle curved-channel-laden other canister. The machine won't run if that canister is not placed just so, and just so is hard to achieve when the thick weatherstrip falls away from its component parts, around use 3... But before that happens, you'll have to lift the canister out, set it on something solid, and apply some force to a latch on its front. It will then fall open to something like a gaping maw, forcing confrontation with the stuff you vacuumed up. Nice. Nicer is the next step: using both hands, you must either fake a hinge opposite that latch or growl a little louder as the cup falls apart into two components;either way, you will now get to wait for the cloud of dust and whatnot to settle. Then you get to use one of those hands to fish out the larger-than-a-mcron debris now trapped in the curved channels. These are not accessible except by probing finger. This is b*llsh%t. I had to ask a friend to empty the dust cup on my third warranty-replaced unit, one day, after sucking up a couple tiger moth caterpillars. They're huge, black, cobra-like when distressed. I cowered in another room while he fumbled with the machine a while, after which he had to o home and shower. It wasn't til the next morningn I realized he'd thrown the dust cup away with the dust. Caterpillars spooked him, too. Outrage at removal of this key component of this critical tool, which I'd paid too much for, turned to gratitude when I altered the main compartment to accomodate vacuum bags. Then I ditched the telescoping, floor-gouging, steel attachment tube with the plastic version from a shop vac, applied btter adhesive and swankier weatherstrip, and figured I was in business. Not so much. I might have compromised on suction to more easily dispose of [vacuum bags vs. debris], but the filters presented their own motor-overclocking suite of problems. The power, maneuverability, and super-useful luxury feautures like adjustanle suction are all out of proportion with each other attribute, and each of those with the ridiculous trials of dust cup emptying. This machine should be a simple elegant implement for success. Instead, it fails miserably to suck. Even with a replacement warranty, the thing can become a burden.

I purchased this vacuum in hopes that the quality would be as good as was stated in several reviews from other websites. It is a very nice quality vacuum. My only "gripe", if you will, is that the canister is rather wide/bulky and somewhat heavy to pull around, especially on carpet. The hose is a bit stiff and can be hard to get in the proper position when vacuuming, but I'm assuming that is because it's so new. Suction is really great! I had an old Electrolux canister vacuum prior to buying this one, and it seemed easier/lighter to lug around for some reason (could just be my imagination or that I was so used to that design). Suction on my Electrolux was good, but this vacuum seems to have better suction...of course it's new, so that may be why. One other concern of mine is the plastic piece that holds the bag in place seems somewhat flimsy and I worry that it may someday break, leaving me with a vacuum that may be rendered useless if the bag cannot be secured. Overall, though, this vacuum is of great quality so far. I've only used it about 3 or 4 times since buying it, but it has been good so far. For the price, I think the value and quality are great. I couldn't give 5 stars due to the fact that it is somewhat wide/bulky and because of the bag holder seeming somewhat flimsy.

Upon arrival the vacuum is packed well to prevent any damage. Once unpacked, you can get it started in a few minutes. The vacuum is powerful in terms of both suction as well as the brush to kick up dust. I dare you to vacuum your house with another vacuum and then try the Dyson. You'll see the difference in efficacy by the amount of dust the other vacuum left behind. The system was originally designed for pet owners. However, you don't need to have a pet to benefit from this engineering marvel. The vacuum features easy-to-clean HEPA filters which are excellent for reducing allergens as well as a canister that is easy to empty/clean. The Vacuum has a super long power chord, which may be considered a benefit as you can use the same outlet for multiple rooms. Yet, as there isn't an automatic retraction feature, it can be cumbersome. Also, the wand, which works when the vacuum is upright, has a head that is a little bulky for my liking. So If you have furniture that is low to the ground, you may not be able to fit it under.

I have my new Dyson for about a month now and I have used it enough to be able to say I think its a good little machine. Very powerful with it's suction, seems to get deep down dirt out real well. I was amazed at how much "gunk" was in my carpets. I have the purple one and it is sleek and pretty. I love the way I just detach and empty the canister, no bags needed. The extra tools that come with are a plus too.

The Dyson DC25 is the best vacuum cleaner I have ever used. I have 5 cats and the fur flies around my house everywhere and settles into the carpet. This machine is lighter and quieter than my old one and really picks up the dirt and fur. Its even good at cleaning right up to the edge of the walls. I am extremely happy with this purchase and recommend it to anyone who is looking for deep cleaning without the extra cost and hassle of having bags to buy.

this vacuum is great for light duty cleaning - hard surfaces and/or furniture - and the retractable cord is a plus. Easy to manuver and no bags. I wish it had attachments - but it's still a great value.

Bought new dining room rugs and wanted to start fresh with a new vacuum. I haven't bought a canister vacuum or a bag vacuum in a long time but I was fed up with cleaning filters and moving heavy furniture so I thought I would give this one a try. This unit is super sturdy and effective. Now I can reach under beds, sofa, chairs, almost everything. Power head is great. Attachments are fine. I'm on a roll.

I have been using this vacuum for some time. I have a short haired large boxer mix who sheds a lot and a white cat. I use the attachment for my microfiber sofa as well as small hard to reach areas. Also use the vacuum on both area rugs and floors. Excellent product. Has a few nuances regarding switching from the vacuum to attachment option which can be somewhat annoying as it involves balancing and locking the cleaner into an upright position to use the attachments which can be hit or miss at times as the vacuum cleaner is heavy and subsequently will fall if transition is not done properly. Sounds like a vacuum cleaner in terms of noise, definitely not quiet but they never are in my experience. Nothing unusual there. Great not using bags and dirt compartment easily removable. Love this product as my first Dyson and highly recommend. Did not want to pay the full $650+ for new one and simply purchased this with the 5 year protection plan; substantial cost savings. Came perfectly packaged with instructions and minor assembly. Looks like new and can't tell it is refurbished. Works like a charm. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT.

I have to tell you, I was really apprehensive about spending this much on a vacuum cleaner, let alone a refurbished one. Dysons are EXPENSIVE, but I guess they are so for a reason. The vacuum came on time with all its parts, and looked completely brand new. Putting it together was a little daunting, but a call to Dyson customer service helped me figure out how the handle worked, etc. Suction? Fuggedaboutit! It could suck everything up in the room like one of those screen effects in the cartoon (the one where all that's left is white space). The carpets look brand new. It is true what they say - you really have no idea just how much is in your carpet till you use one of these. There are three cats in the house and I vacuumed up enough hair to make up three more. I also have to tell you that it makes a "mooing" sound when you shut it off, but that's the sound of the powerful turbo engine powering down. I just call it My Little Purple Cow. :-) I also like the idea that there's no filters or bags. The cord also stretches right up the stairs so I can vacuum without moving it. This was a GREAT investment at a great price! I LOVE IT!

I researched vacuum cleaners and wanted an upright, hepa filter with bag. This one was one of the top three recommended. After using it, I can see why. It has a lot of power is very effective with dog hair and carpet fuzz. It may be a bit heavy if you are looking for a lighter weight cleaner. The power paw is great on my stairs and easy to use. I am very happy with the cleaner and would recommend it. I found it at a department store, online only, for one dollar less, but shipping was out of this world. Overstock's shipping price is incredible and combined with the already low prices, it gives you a great bargain.
