I like this because it is lighter than the other Hoover Vacuum cleaners I have had. Another plus point is I can see when to empty out the dust canister. Over all love it.

You get a Dyson, just like any other vac because of the suction. Most any vac can have the same suction as a Dyson in the short term, I know, I've had a LOT of them, unfortunately, within a year they quickly start acting like every other vac I've had, the suction is gone, even with a new bag, filter, etc it never comes back. A Dyson, has very good suction and pick up initially, and continues to have very good pick up and suction the next year and the following year. Keep in mind that a refurbished model will have been put through the "ringer" already so it's already had a rough life, mine still out performs any vac i've had a year later. Some common sense maintenance are a must. #1 and most important - Just because it doesn't cut off the suction doesn't mean it shouldn't be emptied! The suction cut off is it prevent permanent damage from occurring to the motor. If your vac does the suction cut off it means you let the dustbin get too full (or there is something clogging the vacuum suction tube (most commonly a larger coin, paperclip or other object is lodged in the bend right before the dustbin. and other dust & dirt have caught on it eventually blocking the airway. It's my sole complaint about the Dyson, but I understand it is because in order to achieve the cyclonic action and keep the majority of dust out of the filter the sharp turn is needed to start the spiral of dirt in the bin. #2 The only difference between this model and the animal is the tangle free turbine tool! So pay the $40-60 for it if you have pets and vacuum away. The tool works well and although small is very capable of picking up large amounts of animal hair. Just like the brush-head. I have 3 cats and a dog and use my origin and it does just fine with picking up hair and the only time I need to de-fur the brush head is when some sticky substance has been vac'd up with the hair causing it to stick. #3 Wash and dry the filter and brush-head frequently! The instructions say once a month. I tend to do it every 2 weeks. Living in South Florida and somewhat close to the beach means we get a lot of dust and sand tracked into the carpet weekly. Combine with pet hair and mud from the rainy season and there is a lot of dirt accumulated. Cleaning the filter and allowing it to dry on a regular basis means it is as clean as is possible. It also means that it is unlikely that it will every get "really clogged" to where it has to be replaced. Just a good forceful bit of water through it (opposite from the flow of air, you don't want to imbed the dirt further) clears it in a few seconds. (Note to take a picture of what the filter looks like before the first use with a light shining through it so you can tell if you have cleaned it properly) The new Dyson's don't have the filter system which I don't know if that would work well or not. With my maintenance plan, I see no reason to change. I initially had a Dyson City which is the baby brother to the Origin (slightly less suction pressure and a smaller overall unit) but is very good for a small living space where storage space is more precious. It did well on my 2 Bedroom, but with the cats and dog it means empting the city canister 4 to 6 times to vacuum the apartment. The Origin I empty twice. (Yes it pulls out that much dirt) Initially it was emptied 3 to 4 times and as we would walk over the carpet imbedded dirt would release and the next day I could vacuum it up again. After a week we had got all the dirt out of the carpet. (Note we had used a carpet cleaner which somehow had only turned the dirt into an apparent mud souffle' in the carpet. But over a week my spouse commented that the carpet looked "brighter" and felt softer. #4 DO NOT USE POWER DEODORIZERS! THEY ARE NOTHING BUT A Huge clogging factor for filters and don't do anything except embed themselves in your carpet and cut it's life shorter.

I love this vacuum cleaner. It is powerful, easy to pull, and has a very slick faux hardwood finish. I love that the plug and cord is retractable.

I was pleasantly surprised by the power of this small vacuum cleaner. It picks up as well as my full size Dyson! Easy to maneuver with the ball. With three inside dogs, I have to empty the canister more often, but that's a small price to pay for the benefit of the lightness. So easy to use and no more back strain from pushing a heavy vacuum. Only thing I don't like is that the cord is shorter, and there's nowhere to store the attachments onboard.

I was amazed how quickly this vacuum arrived....just several days. While it is true that this vacuum is great on rugs and is much more quiet than my Dyson, it is heavy to carry the lift away canister. I am still getting use to the tension/suction control. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase.

I have a very expensive vacuum cleaner, but my arthritis keeps it in the closet most days. This dyson works well on my floors. It is not as good as the $2,000 one in the closet, but keeps the pet hair at bay.

I replaced the unit with the roller bar and then it broke again. I went to our local vacuum cleaner store to get it repaired. Saw the line-up of other Dyson's in for repair and bought the Riccar upright, which performs even better than the Dyson.

I was very impressed with the performance of the dc39 beyond my imagination. I had my doubts because I've never owned a Dyson product but now I would recommend this vacuum cleaner to almost anyone.
