I have had reconditioned items before and so I was not surprised that it worked just like new. It is so quit my other Bissell was a hand-me down from my daughter who got it from a friend. I am not sure how long the original own had it but it worked fine but neither owners have pest so I ended up killing it. So when I saw this one specifically stating Pet I was excited. when I got it I put it together (easy) and swept just a small spot on the floor where my dog usually lays, in a few seconds the cup was full of hair and dirt. I did not even see the hair on the floor. I am really impressed with this pet vacuum. I would love to be able to sweep my dog (have a dog brush that can be attached to the vacuum hose) with it but he does not like sweepers. If you have pets this one will do the work. It even gets aspen shavings and hay that my bunny kicks out. When this one goes I will defiantly get another

I couldn't be happier with my new Dyson. I've had it for about a month now. It's doing great! I can't believe how much it picks up from the floor. It's lightweight and easy to use. It's the first vacuum I've owned where the attachments didn't fall off as I was using it-they lock into place, yet are easy to remove. The low reach floor tool allows me to easily get under my king size bed to clean. I think the best part just might be how easy it is to empty. Since the container opens from the bottom, you don't get the dust you can have with other bagless vacuums. Even though I got a great price compared to the usual retail value, the price was a consideration. I can now say it was worth every penny. The Animal is a must have for any pet owners.

I can not begin to describe how amazing this vacuum is. It arrived factory reconditioned but was in MINT condition. Not a scratch and works like a charm. I used my old vacuum yesterday and the Dyson DC14-Animal today and I can not believe the amount of dirt and dog hair that came up. My new motto is... "If it isn't a Dyson, it isn't a Vacuum!". Anything else is just a noise maker that you push around the house! Easy to use, relatively quiet, and lightweight!! Great attachments as well! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED- Especially for pet owners!

I love this vacuum. Took a while to put it together, and to figure out how to turn it on! But once I did that, it was clear sailing. this machine could literally suck the print off wallpaper. It never quits. It's extremely easy to manuever, and it cleans up around edges very nicely. It's not even as noisy as some of my previous vacuums. I can't wait to try some of the attachments. Now if I could only get another one for my second floor, I wouldn't have to carry it up and down the stairs! Just as good on hardwood floors as on carpet. A definite 'MUST" for pet owners.

I've only had this vacuum for a few weeks but it does the job well. I have tile and carpet in my house and the vacuum does well on both surfaces. In addition, having the detachable canister feature is a bonus. It is a great vacuum especially for pet owners, hopefully it will last for a long time.

I have 3 dogs and after cleaning with this TRULY AMAZING, powerful, light weight vacuum, people would never guess I had animals in the house! Best money I ever spent (and I got a great price). I would highly recommend this product!

We extensively researched vacuums that were not only within our budget, but reviewed well for pet owners and decided on this one based on past reviews. IT IS A WORK HORSE OF A VACUUM, for sure! When I read in others' reviews it was heavy, they weren't kidding. This has got to be the heaviest vacuum I've ever owned! Thankfully we live in a one story house . . . I can't imagine carrying it upstairs, and I'm fairly young and fit! That's my only real caution! Otherwise, the vac performs beyond excellent for picking up pet hair bare floors as well as carpet and furniture. I do find I have to switch to the bare floor mode for carpets that are not tacked down. The suction is so great on this vac it doesn't function well with the roller on decorative carpets laid on bare floors. However, even with the roller turned off and in bare floor mode it does an excellent job! Love the long cord and all the cubby attachments that are easily at hand. Previously had a bagless vac, but I'm digging the bag. Saves time having to clean after every use. However, there is a musty smell emitted if the bag isn't changed frequently. Probably all of our pet hair and dandruff! Bags are easy to find and change. Only other little issue is the wrap hose comes out of it's encasement way too easy and not always when I need it. Quick fix, just a bit annoying. Overall we are extremely pleased with our purchase. Thanks OVERSTOCK!!!

I bought this vacuum cleaner after the handle on my Hoover "snapped off". For the first time I did research before buying one, and I am SO glad that I did. I was impressed with the reviews and the price was good-if it worked like the reviews promised. It was delivered in 2 days which was great (normal for Overstock.com). It's very easy to assemble and a lot lighter weight than I expected. It has plenty of attachments (I am grateful-I bought an Oreck a few years ago and it didn't have ANY attachments, used only Oreck bags and was hard to push around) and the cord is long enough to clean most of my house without having to plug it in again. I don't remember reading that it was "self-propelled" in the reviews or if it's because it's so lightweight, but the Shark almost vacuums by itself. The head swivels which is quite handy in corners and around table legs. I have two long-haired cats and the amount of hair that was vacuumed up the first time I used the Shark was totally amazing (and embarrassing). I vacuumed my house every day for the first week I had the Shark and I continued getting dirt and cat hair out of my carpet, which is wonderful but doesn't say much for my previous vacuums. I have never been so excited about a vacuum cleaner before, but I've never had one that exceeded my expectations like this one has. The only thing wrong with it-it's a little top heavy when using the wand and can tip over if you pull it by the wand instead of the handle on the top. I wouldn't mind if the hose/wand was a little longer either but overall I am very happy with it and would urge anyone-especially pet owners- to get this vacuum cleaner. You won't be sorry.

I've wanted this vacuum for a long time and I finally decided to purchase it. The refurbished version available through Overstock was pretty much brand new. I couldn't tell that it had been used. The carpet performance is excellent. Some people have had issues with the vacuum sucking or pulling up (brush bar) carpet fibers, but I have not. What I do get is an insane amount of cat hair and fine dust. It's somewhat of a good feeling to be able to see what this thing sucks up, but at the same time, kinda gross. The bare floor performance is ok to say the least. When the brush bar is turned off, it does a good job sucking up dirt and hair, but struggles with larger debris like cat food. Sometimes I need to turn on the brush bar to get it to suck up the bigger stuff. The pull-out hose and attachments are good and bad. Good because they're convenient and pretty easy to use. Bad because the hose is VERY tight so when you extend it, there is a lot of resistance and the vacuum tends to get pulled along. This isn't terrible, but it makes it difficult to maneuver at times. One other thing I noticed was that when the hose was fully extended, the suction was reduced. The turbo head is great at getting hair off of furniture and other upholstery. The low-reach floor tool wasn't exactly what I had expected. I'd hoped for something that could work well on hardwood floors, but this seems to be suited for some other purpose that I haven't figured out. The rest of the standard attachments work as expected. I think I will be getting the asthma and allergy kit as well for better dusting capabilities. The canister also has its pros and cons. The good is that you can see what you're getting off the floor and that you don't have to keep replacing bags. The bad is that (in my case) you need to pretty much have an empty garbage can when emptying the canister to avoid making a mess. You'd think a canister would be clean, but it stirs up a lot of dust when emptying it. Also, hair and thick dust accumulate at the top of the canister near the cyclone things and they have to be cleaned off each time. This requires separating the two parts of the canister. Not hard at all, but it can be a little messy if you're not careful. To me it's all a minor inconvenience to get such great cleaning power. In all, this is a wonderful vacuum for pet owners who have carpet.
