Exactly What I Thought it Would Be
The cabinet is sturdy and looks really nice especially for the price. It is pretty dark, and doesn't have any red tones---so not sure why that is in the name. Nontheless, it look nice and was very easy to put togther (just very repetitive). Tip....use a electric scredriver becauase there are lots of screws in this bad boy). For the most part, the cabinet looks of better quality (more expensive) than it is, however there is one tell-tell flaw that gives it away up close and that is the faux finish "stickers" that you are to put over the NUMEROUS screw holes that are each about the size of a dime. These stickers are easy to spot in the light and on the outer sides of the cabinet. They wil not go unoticed to anyone who lingers long enough to look at what your have displayed. In this respect Ikea has got this piece beat. Overall though I would say its a good deal for the money and is a substantial addition for a less substantial price.

Very handsome bookshelf
Background:Bought this bookshelf for our living room. We are using it the tall way. The cons of this bookshelf are:1. One of the pieces came damaged. Overstock was fantastic about getting it replaced quickly, but it delayed being able to complete the project by about a week.2. A couple of the other pieces had some very minor dings. I doubt guests even notice, but they stand out to me.3. Some of the shelves are a little bit awkwardly shaped/sized, which is a bit odd if you're using the shelf for only books. But this is also a pro... The pros are: 1. Some of the shelves are a little bit awkwardly shaped/sized, but this actually great if you've got a few tall/skinny/wide items. 2. It's a really nice looking bookshelf! We've already had many compliments. 3. It's very easy to put together. It takes some time, but I enjoy projects like this and found it to be a simple project.4. It's very sturdy. The pieces are heavy, and it has a presence in the room.5. Overall, we're very happy with this shelf. It looks very nice, it's not bland, and it's a great way to display books and other items.

These bookcases are awesome!!
I was totally blown away at the beauty, style and quality of these bookcases. They look absolutely gorgeous!! I first purchased 2 and then was so impressed with them after arrival, that I immediately purchased a 3rd one. They look even better than their pictures. If there was a category above excellent, that is where I would rate them. Everyone who has entered my home has raved about them. They add elegance to any space. I love them and would not trade them for anything.

Looks great!
This turns into a beautiful bookcase, took me about an hour and 1/2 to put together. I have put together this type of furniture before, so was familiar with how the cam-locks worked, but the instructions really don't tell you how to do them, so if you're new to this type of assembly, make sure you know how to do them first. The "dots" to cover the screws were a little noticeable, and they give you EXACTLY enough, so no room for error. All in all, once it is put together, it is a very sturdy, unique and pretty piece of furniture. I plan to use it horizontally on top of a pony wall (that has yet to be built!) as a room divider in my entryway. I LOVE the chunky look of the shelves, very contemporary.
- How did the color on site compare with the actual product? The color is a true espresso (no hint of red despite the name) which was what I wanted.
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Quality is OK, wish things were made in US instead of China, but for this type of furniture, quality was good. The finish was even at least.

Surprisingly nice!
I concur with most of the other reviewers. I purchased two white bookshelves but one came damaged from transport. Overstock immediately replaced the damaged pieces. Easy for my husband to assemble but he's vey handy. Love it! Nice modern addition to my living room.

Just What I Expected and More!
I had looked at bookcases for over 12 months both in stores and online. When I saw this one. the color and dimensions were perfect. The added bonuses were the unusual design (not your boring symmetrical design) and that you can stand it up vertically and us it as a room divider or lay it horizontally and use it under a counter or a window with pillows or plants on top. The only criticism I have is that the instructions are confusing and some of the pieces were incorrectly marked which made putting it together more difficult than expected. Otherwise I can honestly say it was worth the 12-month wait and the price is much lower than the ones of similar size that I had looked at. I'm very happy that I waited for just the right one. Thanks, Overstock.com!

I got fustrated
So all the pieces look the same, but they were supposed to be numbered. I used all the correct numbers per the directions and still at the end of the process the thing would not fit together. So I had to take it apart 3 times !!!!!! I wanted to cry....... it took me 4-5 hours to get it to fit together and even still there were pieces left over. But it is sturdy, looks great and fit perfectly where I wanted to go.

Unique style but heavier than we assumed.
The pieces of this bookcase/display cabinet are very thick. This would be a positive if used as a divider (as many reviews indicated) or with heavy furniture. I'd rather have it be heavier rather than flimsier than expected. The white is exceptionally bright white. My husband spent a full evening putting it together, but all the pieces were there and instructions were good. The design is fantastic: unique and multi-functional.
- How did the color on site compare with the actual product? The white is a VERY bright white with almost a bluish tint. We plan to paint it.

PAY ATTENTION TO THE DIRECTIONS! It is a very complicated assembly. the instructions have a mistake in lableing 2 of the pieces but you can figure it out from the picture and where the holes line up on the sides. It took me about an hour and I only hade to flip one piece after I assembeld it. You have to be quick because after the glue tries it is hard to get it back apart. I love the over all look of the unit. I do wish that the shevles were level you can notice it on the edges.
