Exactly What I Thought it Would Be
The cabinet is sturdy and looks really nice especially for the price. It is pretty dark, and doesn't have any red tones---so not sure why that is in the name. Nontheless, it look nice and was very easy to put togther (just very repetitive). Tip....use a electric scredriver becauase there are lots of screws in this bad boy). For the most part, the cabinet looks of better quality (more expensive) than it is, however there is one tell-tell flaw that gives it away up close and that is the faux finish "stickers" that you are to put over the NUMEROUS screw holes that are each about the size of a dime. These stickers are easy to spot in the light and on the outer sides of the cabinet. They wil not go unoticed to anyone who lingers long enough to look at what your have displayed. In this respect Ikea has got this piece beat. Overall though I would say its a good deal for the money and is a substantial addition for a less substantial price.

Very handsome bookshelf
Background:Bought this bookshelf for our living room. We are using it the tall way. The cons of this bookshelf are:1. One of the pieces came damaged. Overstock was fantastic about getting it replaced quickly, but it delayed being able to complete the project by about a week.2. A couple of the other pieces had some very minor dings. I doubt guests even notice, but they stand out to me.3. Some of the shelves are a little bit awkwardly shaped/sized, which is a bit odd if you're using the shelf for only books. But this is also a pro... The pros are: 1. Some of the shelves are a little bit awkwardly shaped/sized, but this actually great if you've got a few tall/skinny/wide items. 2. It's a really nice looking bookshelf! We've already had many compliments. 3. It's very easy to put together. It takes some time, but I enjoy projects like this and found it to be a simple project.4. It's very sturdy. The pieces are heavy, and it has a presence in the room.5. Overall, we're very happy with this shelf. It looks very nice, it's not bland, and it's a great way to display books and other items.

These bookcases are awesome!!
I was totally blown away at the beauty, style and quality of these bookcases. They look absolutely gorgeous!! I first purchased 2 and then was so impressed with them after arrival, that I immediately purchased a 3rd one. They look even better than their pictures. If there was a category above excellent, that is where I would rate them. Everyone who has entered my home has raved about them. They add elegance to any space. I love them and would not trade them for anything.

Looks great!
This turns into a beautiful bookcase, took me about an hour and 1/2 to put together. I have put together this type of furniture before, so was familiar with how the cam-locks worked, but the instructions really don't tell you how to do them, so if you're new to this type of assembly, make sure you know how to do them first. The "dots" to cover the screws were a little noticeable, and they give you EXACTLY enough, so no room for error. All in all, once it is put together, it is a very sturdy, unique and pretty piece of furniture. I plan to use it horizontally on top of a pony wall (that has yet to be built!) as a room divider in my entryway. I LOVE the chunky look of the shelves, very contemporary.
- How did the color on site compare with the actual product? The color is a true espresso (no hint of red despite the name) which was what I wanted.
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Quality is OK, wish things were made in US instead of China, but for this type of furniture, quality was good. The finish was even at least.

Surprisingly nice!
I concur with most of the other reviewers. I purchased two white bookshelves but one came damaged from transport. Overstock immediately replaced the damaged pieces. Easy for my husband to assemble but he's vey handy. Love it! Nice modern addition to my living room.

Beautiful Peice of Furnature!
This is a super signifcant peice of furnature I looked and looked and came back to this peice several times. I was looking for the perfect sofa table that went well in my contemporary living room This can be used as a upright bookcase or turned on its side which made it perfect for a very upscale looking sofa table/shelving. Modern looks and the design of the shelves doesnt matter which way you use this unit. It took my son 1 hr to assemble with no problems but on the advice of another comsumer I did get my own wood glue because what came in the box was a little package which would be messy ,I take no chances lol If you liking this peice of furnature do not be afriad to order it! I LOVE IT!

luv the bookcase
This is my first time to order from Overstock, so I was a little hesitant ( very seldom order online). I wanted to start small, but I have been shopping for a bookcase and I can't find anything I like. The item came and was left on my driveway ( good thing it was not raining that day). I was afraid the item might have been damaged, but when my son opened the package the parts were all there. H put it together and 2 hours later voila!! I have a nice bookcase. It looks really nice. The experience has been pleasant and I will probably order more in the near future.

except for the flimsy covers for the nails, this is exceptionally nice..i am 62, weigh 108 and put it together all by myself in a few hours. Directions were very good..now all i have to do is shop for pretty chachkas to fill it up!!

Exactly as represented
We bought 2 of these -- and we are most pleased. We had a feeling the color was going to be darker than expected, based on O.co reviews, and it was... as mentioned by other reviews, there are no reds in the color. Assembly was relatively fast, considering the assortment of parts and various sizes of the shelves. I did the first unit in 2hrs, and the 2nd took 90 minutes. I have significant experience with KD furniture, and this piece is very well engineered, with minor exceptions. The assembly instructions were very good but made assumptions that you kinda sorta know what you're doing. Not an issue here, but I don't think someone without prior knockdown assembly experience could do this in 90 minutes. It was refreshing to have assembly instructions written in English, and with a sense of humor. The designer KNEW that some people will fail or give up on assembly, and the instructions encourage you to go slow. I did exactly that. I took my time and triple checked everything before moving on. A few assembly tips: 1. use your own wood glue. The provided glue is a mess to work with; 2. A quality power screwdriver will make your life much easier - but use most appropriate bits for the various pieces; 3. Go slow and triple check your work. Botom line: for the price, it's an exceptional value. Yeah, I can see how some people will say the laminate is very thin -- and yes, some of the joints are "almost" there, but I'll still give this 5 stars since it's a tremendous value.

Great Purchase
I chose this particular product based on it's looks, the material used in it's construction, the price and the reviews. It met all of those expectations. As complicated as the piece looks in appearance - the directions were very easy to follow and I put it together in very little time. As has been stated by others, the little white stickers to cover the screw holes can make the piece look a little cheap and they give you exactly the number of stickers to match the holes - no extras!!! It looks great in my kitchen and I've already had a couple of compliments on it's looks. Great buy - this is my second purchase from Overstock - so far so good.
