Blues are more "cornflower" and "royal" blue then a dark blue and background is cream. Rug came within 4 days of my order. Only negative is rug was kind of smelly for a few weeks after being unwrapped. I knew it wasn't just me smelling it since my dog loved rolling on it when I first put it down and he loves to roll in/on smelly stuff. But after a couple days with windows open and some air freshener it seems fine now. I have rug part way under a contemporary sectional sofa on light hardwood floors and it looks great and softens the room nicely and provides nice cushion for the feet.
