This item is a must in any kitchen, especially those messy broken eggs dripping all over your hands, spilled items in refrigerator, or just the general kitchen disasters that require two hands to transport the soaked various items to the nearest recepticle. Easy open lid without use of manual assistance. Can't count the number of times I've been in that very situation....especially when the grandkids are visiting on holidays and summer vacation. Large capacity, a breeze to clean, chic, attractive design. Does take 8 D cell batteries, but last set lasted nearly two years, so really not a cost consideration. This isn't a cook item, but no cook should be without it, saves lots of cleanup time and keeps choice words in check following a food flub! This is my second auto open trash/garbage recepticle, now I have one in the garage as well as in the kitchen----about time too, kept waving my hand, foot, other items by the lid of the plastic can and nothing happened, then realized it was just that - plastic manual can, now I'm all set for indoor trash as well as outdoor debris in garage as well as in the kitchen. Highly recommend.

I spend lot of time in the kitchen cooking and have been through three different step-on garbage cans. All of which broke in a short time. This one is great! No need to touch or step on the trash can. It is dependable and great size so I don't have to change the garbage all the time, has a manual open button to keep the lid open if you are dumping or using it a lot. We have been very happy with this trash can!

We've been using ours for about 3 weeks now. It's fantastic. The lid has worked flawlessly. Before purchasing I was a little worried that it wouldn't hold as much as a normal trash can. But that's not the case. And it's cool. I love having an instruction manual for our trash can. :) Two thumbs up.

I've had the iTouchless trash can for about 3 weeks now and it works wonderful. Was skeptical at first but so far I am very pleased with its performance and I have not yet had to change the batteries. In fact I am purchasing one for my mother and sending it to her because I like it so much. The way the lid opens I no longer get scratches on my kitchen wall (my other manual tcan left ugly marks on the wall from its hinge action) and its even more fun for my kids to throw away their trash. So that is certanily a bonus any parent can appreciate :)

I've enjoyed our fancy new trash can. I've learned how to make it open nearly every time with the first swipe. Sometimes it's a little stubborn, but not often. And there IS a manual "open" button as well. I didn't realize that the thing closed by itself too until a few hours after I had it. It almost scared me! LOL The opening in the lid could be a bit larger, though it's usually not a problem. And, changing the trash bag is a little more time-consuming than my old regular trash can, but I'm finding that this one holds much more because everything sinks to the bottom (and also makes the bag REALLY heavy if I let it get all the way full... ) I'd definitely buy this one all over again, though. It's a nice look, nice idea, and a pretty cool "toy". :) And it was a SUPER buy!! I haven't seen many plain stainless trashcans even close in price to this one! I finally decided it's "safe" to throw out my shipping box after a month. :)

I have had these items for several weeks now. I just love them. No touching the trash can lid with messy hands. They do have manual buttons so you can open them as long as you want , if needed, which is really nice. As far as noise when closing, can you hear it yes, but so slight it is absolutely not an issue. Loved the price also, these are very nice!!!!

Am thrilled to have this new trash can, however, both me and trash can have to communicate a slight bit better as we go on... ~ If just walking by the trash can upon its side [without even having anything to put in it at all], then turning back almost a second later, it will open up on the lid (when flipped to the motion-related setting); although it does charge into the batteries usage a bit, at least it clearly indicates that the motion sensor working pretty darn well! ~ My learning to accept that while I primarily only keep it upon the motion-related setting and I make motion for it to open up while I'm scooping food, etc., off my plate or from a cooking pan/pot, that setting IS set to close back down upon a limited amount of time (unknown for sure since I DIDN'T look into the owner manual booklet, but seems like out of guess between 30 seconds - 1.5 minutes) -- it will close the lid while my hands & other item(s) are still within the open lid area! Therefore, I've now learned to switch the setting to open & close buttons upon the front instead of the motion-related setting when taking upon the reason for usage!

I ordered this about 5 months ago and am pleased with it. I opted for the 11 gallon bc it was smaller in gallons but was in overall size the same as the manual SS can I was replacing. I think it holds just as much as my 13 gallon did as well. So far we have had no issues with it. My only criticisms would be that the silver portion on the lid looks a bit cheap in contrast to the SS can. And the lid could stay open just a few seconds longer than it does. Overall all it is serving us well in a household with 3 very young boys. They haven't managed to break it yet. Oh, and I have it in an extremely high traffic area of my kitchen and we have to problems with it opening as people walk by. If anything it could be a bit more sensitive than it is. You have to make sure you move your hand, etc in front of it slowly otherwise it doesn't register a lot of the time. I would purchase this one again. I definitely stick with the sensor based cans in the future.

This product is sleek and attractive, plus a conversation starter. It is so very simple to toss your trash without needing an extra hand to hold the lid. I like the inner band that holds the trash bag in place. Drawbacks: top will close on your hand if you take too long to discard; opening is not very large. BUT: you can manually open if you know you have multiple items and need a longer time for the top to stay open, and you can totally remove the top lid if you need a larger opening. I would purchase it again!
