I was concerned when I assembled this footstool because the wood seemed to be quite soft. The head and tail could not be tightened down completely. Then one of the legs broke off ripping the screws completely out of the wooden frame. I am planning to send this item back!

I love this. I have 'Him' sitting in the living room, the kids use him to sit on, lean on or just use as a table for toys. He is so cute and we just love him. I have had so many compliments about how cute he looks and how unique. Assembly was easy but is not of the highest quality construction. I wouldn't use this for a true ottoman or put any real weight on it-I am sure it would break under those conditions. But, just for looks, he is worth every penny! So cute!!

The head & tail fell off the next day, then a leg. My husband glued it all the parts back on
because I would not let him return it. This was an anniversary gift, and I was not very happy with
the parts falling off before it was ever used.

took my husband 5 minutes to screw everything on and voila! my tortoise is looking fine! just the right height to get my legs into a good position when i'm reading. and the compliments! everybody who comes in has to try it and loves it. everywhere else for $59.99 and UP, UP, UP.
I shop overstock then everwhere else and i always come back to overstock. what's the point of wasting my time?

The quality of this foot stool was good but when assembling it, it needed wood glue for the screws seeing the head and tail were loose and moving and shouldnt have been.
Other than that, it was given as a gift and the person getting it was very pleased with the overall appearance.

Easy to assemble and a cute piece of furniture, however, the legs were easily broken off within a week of owning it and now we are trying to figure out how to put it back together so it dosn't happen again.

Other reviews tried to warn me and I ordered it anyway. One of the faux leather buttons was off when it arrived and the legs came off immediately upon assembly. This was my first purchase from Overstock.com so I will think twice before I do it again.

Easily assembled ,I used wood glue also.perfect for what i needed it for ,my feet. My little dog likes to lay on it and he can jump up to my chair easier.The leather looks expensive.very nice.

and was a snap to assemble; screws, washers and even the wrench are included. It took less than 10 minutes from box to floor. After reading some reviews about instability and difficulty with assembly, I used wood glue on the base & feet, head and tail before attaching. If both screws are lined up at the same time, they fit just fine.This is a great little piece and a fine value. It is just as nice as in the photo and is the perfect height and fits right under my wing chair. When not in use 'George' just hangs out and pokes his head out from underneath! BTW - I think the photo shows the head on the wrong end - I reversed it and it looks much better.

This footstool is short and flat, not round and plump as it appears in the photo. None of the screws actually tighten enough to keep the thing together. If assembled according to the instructions, the head sticks way out, and looks terribly gawky. I used thin brown wood finishing screws to secure the head further back, which makes it look better and you can't see the square end of the neck. The tail spins like the arrow on a compass and must be secure also. Be careful when with your jimmy-rigging, because the soft pine splits easily! Long screws will work much better than trying to nail the parts on. Lastly, the description of "hand-carved" should be changed to "hand-scratched", because the features are superficially etched and look really cheap.

Screws wouldn't stay in,one leg had to have a nail put in so it would stay.
Head wouldn't stay on and when attempting to nail it in place the wood split.
For the price we paid ,it should have come assembled,with higher quality materials.
This was a gift for my husband and the first time I used Overstock.com, after veiwing so many commercials on TV.
I guess I thought the quality would be better.

This is just a fun piece in my family room. My husband kept saying he can not believe I bought this turtle. Now he just walks by the foot stool and just smiles. Easy assembly....maybe a full 10 minutes from the time I opened the box and presto!

I bought this for my mom. Everything needed was supplied to assembly it but the directions were a little sketchy. It took aboutt 15 minutes to install and gave the right extra item to compliment mom's decore yet provide a needed footstool.

This little stool is great. Everyone that comes to the house has something to say about it. How cute! and it works as a foot stool too! Very easy to put together. We love it.

I feel that the quality of this footstool is not equal to what I paid for. The head on the tortoise was stable for a few days. It now spins around and the screw cannot be tightened anymore. The only way to keep the head positioned where it should be there will have to be some kind of alternate "fix" made to the foot stool.
The picture is a good representation of the product and the delivery was made in a very timely manner. In the future I will be much more carefull to read all review on products purchased so that I will be better informed before making a decision to buy or not. Had I done this before purchasing this I probably would have decided against it from the reviews that I read at a later date.
