Tiffany-style Geometric Mission-style Hanging Lamp

This lamp is gorgeous! I have been looking for just the right lamp to hang over my kitchen table. My kitchen is open to a more formal living room, and this lamp pulls the two rooms together beautifully. It is a classy lamp indeed! The white and amber mix glass is pefect against the striking black trim. It is light in weight, but looks much heavier. I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

One of the panels had a small chip on the inside (hard to find since it cannot be seen from outside) -- plastic doesn't chip like that - the chip had rings as it descended, like inside of a sea shell. It doesn't have the high pitch 'ping' when you tap it because the surface area of each piece is too small to allow enough resonation. The tightness also reflects good assembly of the piece. Mine also had oil on it, this is likely the flux oozing from all the welds while it sat airtight in the plastic for probably quite a while. Once air exposed it did not ooze at all. It is not pure white. There are nice slight rust/orangy alabaster-like tinting streaks in the white glass like you have seen on other tiffany lamps. It is contoured glass, not smooth. The fine reticulated design on the rim is a piece of metal over top of one white glass panel -- too intricate to solder, but all the rest of it is definitely hand soldered. The reticulation blends in just fine with the welds if you are more than 1' away from the lamp, you would only notice it up close. Looks great !

We aren't ready to hang it yet so I only got to take it out of the box briefly and get a look. It seems great. I'm sure it will be beautiful hanging over the dining room table in our new home. The only thing I am disappointed about it that I will have to give it a MAJOR cleaning. It has a greasy, green film all over it that seems like it's going to require a lot of work to get off. Other than that, I am very happy with this purchase. Oh... and it seems to be real glass... although a little lighter than normal glass. Not plastic.

So far I'll only be the 2nd person not to recommend this! I was disappointed in this item only because many of the reviews said it was glass, so I was hoping for that. It's actually plastic and the dark edge piping around the plastic pieces is plastic too. I guess I have to spend $500 for what I expected, glass lamp with metal edges. I must say that this probably looks nice once you have it hanging, so if you're not too picky you may want to buy it, it is very inexpensive and you get the look. I only took the shade out of the box so can't comment on assembly or function.

I was a little skeptical to buy this, after reading some of the reviews. I'm VERY picky and quality to me is important, regardless of how much I spend on an item. Cheap = SENT BACK, every time! However, I was pleased with this hanging lamp when I got it, and it now hangs over my dining room table. It's a little larger than I thought it would be, but I still love it. As for if it's glass or plastic, I will dispel this rumor: it's GLASS (believe me, I've seen enough plastic to know the difference)! I can see how people might not be able to tell, but by tapping on it and feeling the coolness of the glass, I was able to figure it out. Well-priced; well-made. Can't really ask for more than that.
