Milkcan Mica Table Lamp

It has taken me a little while to get used to the lamp, not quite what I expected. The Mica is in weird little strips, not like the other mica lamps I have, but I paid alot more for them. The lamp is sitting on a tall table behind a couch and it looks nice enough. All in all I think it is a good value for the money spent.

I didn't have a problem with the very light weight of the item (The box was so light I thought the base had shipped separately) but with the way the arms fit onto the base and held the shade. The screws for the arms fit poorly and when I finally got the arms attached, the were not very tight. The arms were longer than they should be and did not match well with the size of the shade. And since they didn't fit well on the base they weren't even close to being centered with the base. The poor fit also made it rattle every time the drawer to the table was opened or closed. I also purchased another style of mica lamp and had the same problem. Both were returned.

This lamp is very well made with classic lines and style. I would recommend it. It may seem pricey, but remember you are getting a true quality piece that would be many times this amount any where else!

I received this lamp and was happy with the look of it. The shade cast a warm light in the room and I liked the shape of the base...unlike another review I didn't have a problem with the weight of it. However, the lampshade had cracks on one of the panels so I contacted Overstock for a replacement. They sent me another lamp pretty quickly so I could swap out the lampshades. However the new shade isn't the same color or texture as the original and instead of the smoother appearance of the original shade (like what is in the photo) the replacement looks like it was created by overlapping pieces of brownish translucent tape. I'm disappointed because I really liked the look of what I'd originally received, and what it was replaced with just isn't as nice. I wish I'd never seen the original lampshade...then I might not feel so let down by the replacement. If I'd ordered 2 of these lamps to have a matching set, it wouldn't have worked out at all---the shades are very obviously different.

Exactly as pictured and of very good quality for the money. The $1300 models available would be nice but this is the next-best-thing. Fit into our Mission Style sunroom very well and at night the warm glow of the mica shades is perfect. An excellent mid-range product.
