I love these panels, the material is literally tweed / nap sack but actually looks very smooth with a little texture. I was under the impression that the backing was going to be "black out" but it is cream.The thickness of the panels does create a nice sun block from our patio sliding glass door to our living room, at least 20 -30 degrees.I got the sage color, very nice same color as shown. In the directions is states not to iron, but I had to in order to get the folds out, I steamed on a low setting with no problems.
I washed these curtains per instructions in cold water on gentle cycle when I received them. The entire backing streaked and started to come off in my washer. I had to take a vacuum to my washer to get the junk out. These curtains can not be washed - therefore useless to me.
I bought these curtains for my sons room and they are great! Of course they do not block all the light but a lot of it. They look a little more "grainy" than the pictures show, but they are still very durable. I am planning on getting some for our room too!
I bought these blackout curtains for a west facing window. They do a superb job at blocking out the heat, even in 90* weather. The only drawback for me, is that I open them during the day, until the sun comes around to that window, and they are very heavy, and do not move along the drapery rod easily.
