I thought it was good love the color i got the nutmeg for my bedroom. But when I put them up you can see all the spots where the backing is wore ,But I have alread put them in the dryer to get all the wrinkled out .They are heavy and I know they will keep out the cold that is what I'm looking for. It just sad that the backing is so soft and will not last.

Great value
somd  from Southern Maryland,  Oct 31, 2009
These are really good quality for the money. They are casual enough to match our decor yet sturdy enough to stand up to the south western exposure. The wrinkles come out with some dryer tumbling and ironing of course. Heavy material. Look forward to them keeping out drafts. Highly recommend.

Hoping For a Warmer Winter!
maddierae  from Northern Indiana,  Oct 24, 2009
As stated, these will keep light out and help with cold air retension, but they are SO heavy, they don't easily curve around regular rods, which is what I chose to use in order to keep drafts from coming in from around the sides of the windows. I washed them as instructed-hung them on the rods to dry, but noticed that the backing had started to come off, even with the most careful attention to avoid problems.I had purchased black-out drapes years ago and I had hoped they had changed in construction, but they haven't, which was a surprise after many years. For the money, they will do the job for one or two seasons, but won't be able to survive too many washings.

Nice thermals/Great Price
dmr0914  from St. Louis, MO,  Oct 22, 2009
These thermal curtains help maintain a comfortable temperature in my Four Seasons Sunroom. I don't like using the heating unit in the sunroom overnight. These curtains keep the room warm, save electricity, and look nice. The hopsack material is richly multi-hued with a very slight sheen. I have been looking for the right curtains for this room for several years. These thermal hopsack curtains work perfectly! They are heavy enough to keep out the cold but the hopsack texture gives them a much lighter look.

Curtains are ok
keysarnie  from Florida,  Oct 16, 2009
I purchased these thermal curtains and found if you put them in the dryer on "cotton" setting for 15-20 minutes they become quite pliable and most of the wrinkles come out. They look ok and work for my sunny southern windows.

thermal curtains
mlentz  from Maine,  Oct 16, 2009
I needed something to block the cold in our drafty old New England farmhouse. These thermal backed curtains fill the bill. They are wide enough to be able to use only one per window and the linen/burlap type of weave is casual. Just what I wanted.

Thermal Drape
jjame  from Dallas, TX,  Oct 12, 2009
The Thermal Drape is hanging over some Levelor plantation blinds and it looks nice. They are quite stiff and are not elegant, they are efficient. This is a first for me efficient not elegant, but these are in a rent house and will probably hold up better and be of greater use because the window faces a street with alot of traffic. They are a good value and are made well - good and sturdy.

curtains
cecile1949  from Watsonville, California,  Oct 1, 2009
These are great. I bought them for a bedroom that has double pane windows but the sun shines all day long and makes the room too hot. We noticed a difference right away. The room is cooler and not so bright. They are a great value and made of a heavy materal so they will last a long time.

My house faces the morning sun, so this is my first try at room darkenig drapes and I am very happy with them, they really do cut down the light, so yes I recommend these.

I ordered 2 sets for my bedroom. They are stiff like others have said. Looks good enough for the price, though. Haven't gotten around to figuring out how to get the wrinkles out. I'm guessing I'll just use my steamer.1 of the 4 panels came damaged, so I can't put them up yet. The top hem is almost completely unraveled. Waiting for authorization to return and get replacement.

The curtains were just what I had hoped for. Just thick enough to keep the light down but not too thick to pull back.

Good value
liliamama  from Houston, TX,  Aug 17, 2009
These are a nice color and do block out a significant amount of light. Light does come through from the back a bit, so they are not true "blackout" curtains but they were purchased for our kitchen sliding glass door and do what we need them to do. I haven't tried washing or ironing them yet. The storage creases are not coming out easily but I think they will in the first wash. Don't know yet about the backing coming off but I don't think it'll be a problem since we use an HE washer. Will probably dry on cool for 10 minutes and then hang outside. Overall, very happy with the curtains so far.

Heat out
meefifione  from Staten Island, NY,  Aug 13, 2009
My home faces the south west. There are no shade trees to block the heat from the afternoon sun. These curtains are perfect. They are heavy with a soft backing. I wish I had found them before all the other colors were gone. The packing creases & wrinkles take some time & patience to get out. I used a spray water bottle with good results.

I purchased these draperies to finish off some custom swags in my family and dining areas. I didn't want to spend the $$$ to have custom draperies made, so I took a chance that these would work. They have a heavy backing that is not really a lining, but more of a rubber backing. This is fine with me because I want the black out and heat protection that it provides. They do the trick. We're not opening and closing them, either, so the fact that they are a little stilff is OK, too. On the face, the fabric is very natural looking and the color was a neutral tan. Are these luciously soft handmade custom draperies? No. (They are also not $1500 a pair) Are they a good value for the money? Yes. In summary - they are heavy, have a heavy white backing that looks like lining, pretty well made and are just as described.

Looks better in pictures
rhinowerx  from Long Beach, CA,  Aug 6, 2009
So the price was good (maybe too good), and they were delivered quickly. The colour of the fabric - I ordered the lighter beige set - was/is nice and looks good. However the curtains were stiff as a board and obviously creased from being folded and packaged. No big deal, I'll try iron them. Well that didn't work - have to have the iron heat too low. Okay, says I can wash them on gentle cycle. That helped except that the rubber backing started to come off in places. Now with the curtains hung, the light shines through the where the rubber has come off, making it look like the curtains are stained or damaged - does not look good.I think I'm going to go ahead and order some better quality double lined curtains to help block the sun.Guess you get what you pay for...

The curtains are good quality but too stiff for me and not dark enough. I bought another pair from Overstock and it was darker and silky, so I am really surprised about these one. I bought them for my boys' room but I think I will put them in the guest room and purchase the original ones that I bought.

great for casual area
kismet21  from San Antonio,  Aug 4, 2009
I bought several pair to block out the sun in our game room. The drapes are not elegant, but neither is the game room. They do a great job of blocking the Texas sun and provide the casual look I wanted. For the price, they can't be beat.

I really was hoping that they were as stated "BLACK OUT" I have a hard time sleeping in the day time and some times I need to and I wanted as I said black out curtains. These are not total black out, for the money I was disappointed

The curtains were stiffer and darker color than we imagined. The stiffness was partially fixed via very simple ironing to get out the packaging creases/lines. The darker tones (vs. images online) made us think we could've gotten the taupe/tan (we got olive) to better blend in with the lighter/warmer tones of our yellow-walled bedroom, accented with white window trims. That said, the thermal backed white 'cotten/linen' lining looks to do the job since it's fairly thick yet as other reviewers have said, allows very minor light vs. full blackout curtains. It's summer time but I full expect the room to be warmer during winter when these curtains do their job of keeping the heat in. Of note, the white lining/backing is fairly thin and isn't quite sturdy enough (more like thin non-woven cotten) so we probably won't wash it (at least not in the machine). Overall, we're pleased with the quality/price although we really did expect a 5-star bargain very typical of most Overstock products.
