I painted my living room gray, thinking it would up the "class factor" of the room. I have tall ceilings and some large wall space to fill. However, my room is in mostly tans and warm browns, so I don't know WHAT I wast thinking when I painted the room gray. HOWEVER, this piece of art caught my eye because I needed to accent the gray in my space. Even though this is more modern than my traditional living room, it is a lovely piece of art. The blacks are very black on the pier, and the oil paint is raised so that when you are up close, you can see the texture of the painting. It is a striking piece and does not clash w/ my traditional room. It is a brooding picture, and reminds me of the cold, dark, November days here in the Pacific Northwest with our Puget Sound as backdrop. If I could upload a copy of the art on MY wall to give you an idea, I would, but this site does not have that option. This was packaged VERY well. I had no problems w/ shipping. As another poster said, it takes a few holes in the wall to get it lined up JUST right, but those of you with laser levels will be fine. I wasn't sure if I was going to like spacing the different pieces apart as shown in the preview on this site, but I did end up doing that anyways, and it works. I recommend this for more than just you modern types, or you monochromatic types. It would look great down a long hallway I think too, which was my 2nd option for hanging it. But you really need to stand back and view it to really appreciate it. I think it would look great hanging above a bed on a large bedroom wall, or even on a long wall in a gray and black bathroom. Nice piece! 5 starts for quality, shipping, and presentation.
Painful installation almost made this a 4, but it just looks too good. The picture fails to capture the dimension of the paint, as well as the white actually being a cream color. The hangers were not completely centered, which made leveling and spacing a trial and error experience. The final result is a 6 foot piece of wall space that I would have likely spent triple filling up with decorations that look half as nice.
This is a striking canvas set, perfect for our wall which has a small window. It continues the window-view, which happens to be piers as we live by the water. We had to re-drill some of the hangers as they weren't exactly centered, it was well worth the effort. With it being black, ourTV set looks even better as it is also black. The room looks contemporary and everything is in harmony. Packaging was good, nothing was damaged.
Loved the finished product. However, my husband is a prefectionist and believes everything should be level, plum and centered (really good qualities in a contractor), however, these five pieces did not and he had to get out of his "box" and improvise. As you can see thorizon needs to line up in the picture, but the second and fourth pieces if centered with the biggest, middle piece, the horizon was not lining up, so what we did was spread the pieces about an inch and a half apart, and added depth to it by putting wooden blocks of staggered thickness for the middle (1.5 inch block), and 2nd and 4th pieces (.75 inches blocks), leaving the 1st and 5th flush against the wall. With the extra distance between the pieces and the added dimension, no one, except my husband, noticed the pieces did not line up. the finished display looks amazing.
I Love my Canvas! It gives my livingroom such a glamorous look. And I put over it a picture light which when the light stricks that paint it gives a Spectacular Glow! It has been the talk of the month! Everyon as soon as they come in its the first thing they notice! Definetly a great Purchase!
I put this product in our dining room. It was just what I was looking for. Matches the walls and furniture perfectly. Make sure you get your tape measure out to line up the separate pictures correctly
We were very impressed. We thought the quality was very good and the texture made the print look like a real painting.
inexpensive way to create a little mood/atmosphere on a big blank wall- however, it is definitely a "machine made" looking piece- the closer you get, the less expensive it looks, but it is good coverage value for the price.
This piece really only works its charm at a distance. You need to be able to stand back to get the feeling of big, still water under a dark, brooding sky. At ten to twenty feet, the perspective becomes very engaging. The panels are well constructed and each is actually painted; this is not a giclee or other reproduction. The smell of paint is quite strong and will need to outgas for some time. The paintwork is not photo-realistic but consists of broad strokes of black, grey and white. The blending of tones is well executed. Overall, it is a simple piece and looks quite stark and cold when viewed up close. I'm not in love with it but I find that others find it more appealing than I do. I would not buy it if I had the decision to make again but will have no problem selling it to a friend as I already have two offers.
This is a lovely peaceful painting. Wonderful shades of greys. Not high end art but nice for the price. I do wish that they had made the painting go around to the sides rather than having the sides all painted just a solid dark grey.
