Ordering the product was a snap and delivery was quick. Assembly was a little bit frustrating and after a brief struggle I called on my husband to lend me a hand. I think this could be assembled by one really talented person but for those of us who don't assemble furniture very often, a second pair of hands is really helpful. I read a previous review about the quality of this product and I think there was a misconception about what they were purchasing. This furniture is shabby chic meaning the finish is distressed. Scuff marks and inconsistencies in the finish are to make the product appear aged and worn. This is the actual style of finish this product has. If you look closely at the furniture in "white" and enlarge the photo you will notice the inconsistencies. The photo in "black finish'' is a little more difficult to see on a computer. This inconsistency is intended and is not a reflection of damage. I personally love the worn antiqued look. This is a matter of preference. Also noted in a previous review was that the product doors did not hang evenly. I did not experience that with my purchase. In fact the workmanship so so precise that if you inadvertently assembled the product wrong you would not get the right effect of the precision. Meaning a tilted screw would cause the assembly to be tweaked. I am extremely please with my purchase. I got mine in black and it is good quality and perfect for the space. A very solid piece once assembled.
Item came in two large heavy boxes. You have to take everything out before assembly to make sure you have all the parts. Directions very hard to follow - but my husband and I managed to get it put together. It is then that you notice cracks that shouldn't be there, no black paint in spots, doors hang crooked - well what do you do??? You can't possibly take it apart again after two hours, and put it back in the boxes to send back - you could never get it back in the boxes anyway!! I spent over ** on this piece, and it is not quality at all. I feel stuck and ripped off. If Overstock sent me another one all put together and in perfect shape - well, that would be great, but I'll never go through this again.
Most people don't realize RTA furniture is often sold assembled at many of the furniture stores they shop. This item's MSRP is $1100. Unassembled it sells $650-$800 plus shipping. Overstock.com manages to offer the best prices. This piece is solid pieces, no flimsy fiberboard or cardboard backing. It's quality furniture and with a little patience and elbow grease you can save $$$. Follow the directions and take your time - the result will be well worth it.
