This is a very cool kitchen item. The knife block is made of plastic, I would have prefered chrome, there are other sets, but I'm not sure if the silver sets are just plastic as well too.However, the price is quite fair to what they are charging in specialty kitchen supply stores, and the knifes are durable and sharp. They are held in place by a magnet in each slot, and each slot has a plastic case attached, shaped in the knife outline for safety. Its hard to tell in the photo provided.This is a great gift, after I purchsed it, I wish I would have purchased the set of two and given one to a friend, it is even a better deal when buying the set of two.

This is a conversation piece. It is made of plastic and looks kind of cheap. I am a bachelor and this sits on my my micro. Everyone loves it. the knives are sharp looking and in deed.

the knives are a great quality, and everyone who comes over comments on them. the only thing that was a bit of a shock was the size. it's huge.

I bought this a couple years ago as a Christmas gift for a friend and he has gotten a lot of compliments! The display is what attracts the eye, and the knives are good quality and still cut well after frequent use. I would definitely buy this again.

I love this product! It is a great conversation piece. I ordered it in black because I didn't know what color my kitchen was going to be (was in the process of buying a house while purchasing). I would have considered a different color, but it does match my taupe kitchen anyway.

I bought this as a gift for my friend who recently got a divorce from her cheating husband. She absolutely loves it and I love that she loves it!

The knife set is very cool looking when sitting up on the countertop. But the knives themselves are not that great. We have to sharpen them every time we cut anything at all. They dull really fast - I don't know what that is.

Such a fun gift to give! I gave it to my dad who has a rather funny personality and he loved it. the stand is much larger than i expected and the knives were quite sharp.

Knives are decent quality for the price. Not as sharp as german knives, but you get what you pay for. Be sure to take great care in cleaning the blades, or they will become damaged real quick. Knife block is cheap plastic. It looks good, and gets much praise. A novelty item with decent usability. Don't buy this if you are the person who uses kitchen knives to cook on a daily basis. Would make an excellent gift for a friend.

I get so many compliments on this item. I love it and it is definitely a conversation piece. People are always like, "You find the most unique items". And the knives work well also. It is not just a novelty item. We use the knives daily. I would recommend this item and have purchased it as a christmas gift for a friend, who loved it.

I love this!!! It is really large...love the black color...looks fabulous on the kitchen counter...the base is made of heavy plastic so you have to be careful putting the knives back in as not to scratch. Would definately buy for a gift for someone that has just ended a relationship! I've named mine Ron-the worst X ever!

I love The Ex knife set because each knife is one continuous piece of steel. The knives could use a little sharpening once out of the pack but I still haven't sharpened mine and they are working great. Each slot has a magnet that resists the knife when you go to stick it in so it feels like you are really stabbing your ex!

looks awesome and the knives are pretty good which surprised me o and the are magnets to keep the blade from sitting on the plastic

I bought this item for myself, and I just love it. The holder is indeed cheap plastic, but if you read any reviews on here you know that already before you buy it. I prefer that, as I move a lot and don't need more heavy wood blocks or anything to add to my moving weight. The knives are great quality and slide easily into the poor little holder dude. I do wish the knives didn't say "The Ex" on them, as otherwise this would make a great overall gift (weddings, birthdays, etc). As is,.. well, I'm not sure I'd give a knife set that says "The EX" on it to anyone that didn't actually have an EX that it could refer to. As is, I'm waiting for the guest to asks me who MY ex was that prompted the buy (don't have any - just liked the set). Overall, the holder is a good size but is actually somewhat subtle (more than you would think). Which is better because guests do a double take and then laugh. I love having unique and humorous things around, and this was a perfect addition.
