Excellent Product
from Los Angeles, CA,  Jan 8, 2009

I purchased this when I first moved into my home in 2007. Everyone that came to my home loved the uniqueness of this item. My sister just came to visit in November 2008 and also feel invoice with this. For Christmas I gave this to her as a gift. She was so delighted.

The RUSTY ex.
 from Canada,  Jul 14, 2010

I would not recomend buying this product. it says stainless steel but i use mine one time and it rusted. so i returned it to the store and got a new one and what happened? IT RUSTED! do not waste your money on this product since dollar store items are more effective!

Conversation Piece
from New York, NY,  Jul 5, 2010

I have a loft that is one big space so you see the kitchen from the living room and dining room and I wanted something more then just a knife set. Thats exactly what this delivered. I have gotten so many compliments on this knife set and everyone who comes to visit finds themselves taking a knife just to slide it back in. The knives are really good quality and I would have given this item a 5 star but I think the base and holder itself could have been better material. It isn't metal but I was aware of that from the other reviews. All in all its a great knife set and I would recommend it to anyone who wants something different that will be a sure conversation piece in the kitchen. Not to mention I do think of my 'ex' now and then when I slide the knives back into their holsters ...

FUN
from Redlands, CA,  Jun 25, 2010

I bought this because of the whimsical nature of it. It was definately taller than I expected. Only rated as a three star as the plastic finish I am afraid will show wear very easily. The chrome finish is still over plastic so shows fingerprints very easily. Comic relief factor everytime I look at it....... priceless.

hilarious
from indianapolis IN,  Feb 5, 2010

these knives and the person holding them are hilarious and i dont even have an ex... great conversation piece and the knieves are very good to work with. not your usual knife holder. The only thing i wonder about is the sheeves that hold the knife blades will hold up after a long time of usage. but i love it and am totally happy that i bought it.

The Ex
from San Francisco, CA,  Nov 17, 2008

I received The Ex as a wedding gift and it brings a smile to everyone that sees it standing in my kitchen. The knives are sharp, very good quality. The only problem I've had are little spots of discoloration, perhaps from the dishwasher, but it does not affect the performance.I have given 2 as gifts and the recipients are getting more as gifts for others.

Great Show Piece, but less durability!
 from Canada,  Oct 21, 2008

I had seen the original Ex at one of those expesive art decor stores and was totally blown away (priced $199). I ordered this replica thinnkig it would be the same. However, I was dissapointed to find that the body is made of PLASTIC (with chrome plating) and not CHROME as it says on the description and how the original piece was. I'm afraid it might also chip off soon. But I figured it has a unique design and makes ppl turn heads....so worth a keep.

The "Ex"
 from Florida , FL,  Jun 12, 2008

Even though I don't have an "ex" I couldn't pass this up, originally purchased for a friend, but changed my mind! "Ex"cellent conversation piece. Quality of the knives has changed my husband's determination to "ditch the body" and just keep the knives! Love to cook, love the quality and just makes you laugh.

Knife Set not so hot
from Miami, FL,  Jan 9, 2008

I thought this knife set looked so cool so I bought one for myself and one for a friend. Although the apprearance is really cool and knives are pretty good.. the body of the case is plastic which is chincy and will probably not last too long. I was borderline on returning but figured It was too cool looking regardless to get rid of it. Little value though.. wouldn't recommend.

from Tonkawa, OK,  Jan 6, 2008

I bought this more for a joke and conversation piece but was amazed at the quality of the knives. It was a gift and I was glad to find out that the knives were excellent quality as well as an interesting piece of art.

Great Present
 from B-lo,  Nov 6, 2007

My girlfriend just moved into a new condo and I wanted to get her a gift. This was perfect, The chrome is worth the extra money, it really makes it look like an expensive peice of art. The only bad thing she had to say was that the plasic knife holder in the back was cheap looking, but she had it against the wall and you can't see it. Now were looking for a female version.

This is so cool!
from Mesa, AZ,  Sep 26, 2007

I've been wanting one since they came out. I'd only seen the red one but when I saw it came in chrome I had to have it. It costs 2x as much as the other colors, but the chrome is just too cool. I had some trouble with my order getting canceled, but an email to customer service got that straightened right out. The box arrived pretty beat up, but the block was fine. The knives are actually decent quality with one-piece construction preferred for sanitary concerns. I had assumed I'd have to replace the knives with 'real' ones, but I'll keep these for a while.

The Ex
from Chatsworth, California,  May 3, 2007

I bought the Chrome "EX" and I'm extremely happy with it. Everyone who comes over sees it loves it and I think its a great conversational piece. The knives are stainless steel and haven't rusted after 5 months of use. I would definetly recommed the "EX" in chrome! I also bought the red EX for my sister who is as happy as I am!!

$40 extra for shiny plastic
from South JErsey,  Apr 29, 2007

Overall this item does have some good appeal for anyone with a dark sense of humor. However the "limited edition chrome" is not worth the additional cash over the colored units. This limited edition comes with a molded plastic chrome person/base. I question the long term durability of the holder, as it is light weight plastic. The knives themselves have a good weight, are comfortable and have a good stiff one peice design. If I was to repurchase this item I would save myself the money nad get one of the lower cost color models.
