  • Not as sturdy as I would've liked

This bed broke only after about 3 mo of use. It was my sons and the slats broke in half in the middle

  • Fell apart

You get what you pay for - while this is solid wood, the legs are so thin that ours died pretty soon. The middle support legs were not nearly enough for our cal king - this might be better in other sizes.

  • Minimalist Bed Design; Maximal Quality

We ordered this bed after an intensive search for a simple design in a platform bed. Within two days the bed arrived via UPS! Must admit this bed frame was such a great price that we did worry about quality. You know-"You get what you pay for". What a pleasant surprise! As we unpacked the parts we knew we had a solid product. As we assembled the frame all predrilled holes aligned perfectly. Extra screws, bolts, etc were also included along with the necessary Allen Wrench. The number of cross slats is abundant and there are 4 center legs attached to a slat running the length of the frame so that Cal King mattress is ready supported. The finish on the bed is attractive. It looks great and we couldn't be happier. You can't go wrong with this platform bed.

  • Good but with issues

I like my cal king bed it has 4 support legs. 3 of the support legs loosened and one completely broke off from moving the bed. Either there should have been more detailed instructions on how to more the bed or better center support should have been created.

  • Highly Disappointed!!!

My husband and I ordered this bed and it is poorly constructed. There are a row of about 4 pegged legs that are supposed to attached down the center of the frame to help support the bed and mattress. The holes were too big so the screws wouldn't catch therefore the pegs fall off. Without the pegs, the bed sinks in the middle and can not support the mattress or our body weight AT ALL!! We paid for the extended insurance and filed a claim only to be told that that is a defect from the manufacturer and will not be covered. We didn't even want to return it or get money back, we merely asked that the pegs be replaced! We were advised to buy a plug to help fit the screws; which we did to no avail. This frame is ruining our brand new mattress because it doesn't support it, because of the sinking it's uncomfortable to sleep in and now, the screws are even coming apart on the outside legs! This frame is literally falling apart. Not only am I highly disappointed in this product, I'm also disappointed with how handled the situation. Now we're stuck with an inferior and defective product.

  • A nice start

I'd just been looking for a "quick fix" sort of deal since I had to get a new bed pretty quick and was going from a double to a Cali King. The frame is very sturdy though, doesn't wobble and I don't use a box spring but I don't notice any sagging areas in the bed or feel the planks. Only reason I'd want to get a new frame later on is if I wanted a different design.

  • Cheapo

Selected this product because of its simple design, dark color, and quality of materials for the price (e.g., affordable wood, not plywood or particle board). Sadly, the wood is very cheap, and not only did we receive slats that were broken, but the posts holding the bed up collapsed upon assembly. Very disappointed.

  • Simple sturdy with good looks

This item is simple sturdy and has good looks. It comes in 3 packages. Reserve about 60 - 90 minutes for assembly. It comes with all necessary hardware but make sure to have an impact driiver ready. It will be of big help. Obsessive compulsive characters will buy some more screws to fix all and every plank which makes a rock solid bed. A 10 inch foam mattress fits perfectly fine. Great for everyone who wants a simple bed at an affordable price that does not hurt the eyes. Highly recommend it.

  • Not that great

If you are looking for a good price, this bed has one, but the center supports are flimsy. After two days with the bed I wrote a good review, but it was not accepted. Good thing since just a few days later I noticed that the center support was bowing. (No we are not overweight people) We have hard wood floors so it slid out easy with movement. We had to build a better support. This bed is great for a memory foam mattress and looks great with it's awesome dark wood stain... however be prepared to spend at least 30 bucks at a do it yourself place to fix the support issue.

Questions & Answers

  • Any suggestions on what I can do to make my mattress fit down into the frame of this bed? I bought it thinking my tempurpedic would fit right down into it and now one side of it sticks out over the edge by about 2 inches...I have no idea how to make it work, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

    • Hello dggohnc, this bed accommodates a standard California king-size mattress. These mattresses measure 72 inches x 84 inches. We recommend double checking your mattress's size and the mattress a bed accommodates. Your mattress might have been a standard-sized king mattress measuring 76 inches x 80 inches.

  • On Sept 24, 2012 overstock answered a question about the weight limit of the bed, saying it was 350 lbs. Two people, not the typical obese Americans, will weigh in the aggregate over 350lbs. Do you really know what the weight limit is?

    • The weight limit is, for the single mattress it is 500 lbs, for the full mattress it is 700 lbs and for the queen and king size it is 800 lbs.

  • I have a termerpedic king matress that feels like it weighs 200 lbs or so. It is just over 12" thick. WIll the frame be able to support the mattress? Thank you.

    • From the reviews, many thought the bed was very solid. The product got 4.5 stars out of 5 for this item out of 78 reviews..c

    • I have a 14" memory temperpedic matress and it fit really great and the bed comes with very good support structure, my wife and i love this bed frame.

    • I have a Tempurpedic as well. The bed easily supports the weight but you MUST buy some plywood to put down to properly support the mattress.

  • then the mattress will sit on the slats that are how thick?

  • What is the total height from the floor to top of 12" mattress

    • It depends on the height of your mattress. Since it is 8 inches from the floor to the frame of this bed, add 8 inches to the height of your mattress for a good approximation of the measurement you desire.

  • Does this come with a manufacturer warranty?

  • What is the clearance height under the bed for storage?

  • Can I add box spings even though its a platform bed?

    • Yes, you can use it like that.

    • If you plan to use this bed with a box spring it will be partially visible above the side rail. The manufacturer recommends you purchase a fitted sheet for the box spring that matches your bedding. If you do not already own a box spring but do not want to put your mattress directly on the bed slats, you may want to consider purchasing a bunkyboard or superpallet which are much shorter.

  • should i put a memory foam mattress on this bed, or can it handle a regular coil mattress? thank you..

    • You may have to beef up the slats but it will handle any type of mattress. Platform beds generally do not use box spring.

  • I'd like to order this, but I'm concerned about the several reviews that state the dimensions are not right for a cal-king mattress. Is there an issue?!

    • The dimensions listed are accurate.

    • This bed is designed to accommodate a standard California king mattress measuring 72x84.

  • Is this product made so that a headboard can attach?

    • You can likely attach one.

    • The head rail attaches to the side rails with an L bracket system. The side rails come with an L bracket pre-attached from the manufacturer and bolt to threaded inserts in the head rail. Depending on the height and type of the fasteners on your headboard, you may need to use an adapter plate or modi plate to attach to the side rails. In some cases, you may actually have to bore a hole through the headboard and secure it to the side rails with bolts and washers in order to make it work.

  • When will you get this in stock in the eastern king size? can only find cal king.

  • ok i get that the bed is made out of wood but in the middle where the Mattress, box spring go is it flat wood or what is that area made out of

    • The middle section of the bed, where the mattress goes, is going to have a wooden slat system.

    • This mattress support comes with 14 cross slats, which are secured to the side rails with wood screws. The slats are bound in a roll with nylon banding to maintain spacing and facilitate assembly. The manufacturer recommends that you only secure about half the slats to the side rails with wood screws. The slats are supported from underneath by a perpendicular center slat, which bolts on to several of the cross slats. The center slat is supported by 4 adjustable center support legs, which are attached to the center slat with allen bolts.
