I love these stools and I'm definitely keeping them, however, I was expecting an "unfinished" galvanized metal stool. This is instead painted a metallic silver with a shiny topcoat. It's kind of like a car's paint. They look as pictured from a distance and everyone who has seen them loves them. Just make sure you know what to expect.

Perfect mid-century Tolix reproduction stools for my modern kitchen. Great value, same price as much crummier, boring stools. Much more affordable than the real thing from France, and a great reproduction. Packed beautifully. They stack, w/little rubber protectors under seat so they won't get scratched. Good quality and value.

These stools are nicely made and sturdy....Very similar to the look of the original french made Tolix version without the steep price....The finish is a platinum-like powder coat (not clear coated raw metal )....The powdercoat has a few flaws, but don't affect the look. Fully assembled.

I love these stools, the legs extend more than expected, but that's okay, would have liked to know weight limitation of 250 lbs prior to buying, need to think how to not get people over 250 to sit in them tactfully :( but overall, absolutely love these, if I had a bigger apartment I'd buy 2 more, oh, and they were packed very well, nice surprise

I read the reviews and knew that these would be a bit darker than my stainless steel appliances, but had no idea they would be as dark as they were. I quickly returned these. The color on the side of the shipping box said "pewter" and this needs to be reflected in the description and picture. So many of my orders have not matched the pictures or descriptions and I'm getting afraid of ordering again because of paying for return shipping. Luckily, Overstock agreed to pay for return shipping for these and customer service was great. Other than the color, the quality was great.

These are very cool stools. They are painted silver, but it looks good anyway. I found them comfortable to sit on, and love the height for our high bar. The legs form a wide base at the bottom, so make sure you have enough room. Sturdy, good construction. Good quality for the price.

I bought these stools for outdoor use, even though it states that they should only be used indoors. I figured for the price, if they lasted a year while I searched for something else, that would be fine. They have been outside at a bar for 1 1/2 years. They are under cover, but still a lot of sun and tons of humidity because I live in South Florida. In my opinion they have held up incredibly well as they are just now getting signs of a bit of rust around the edges/seams that hold some water. And if I had been more diligent in putting them inside during rainy days, they would probably not have that much. Since they are painted a silver color and not bare metal, I am sure I can repaint them and they will look like new again. But the slight bit of rust sort of adds to the overall appeal since they are part of the decor of a rustic beach cottage and the sun has faded them enough so that they do not look shiny or faux. Overall I couldn't be happier.

We were in a pinch to get some bar stools for a wine tasting party, and we wanted to save some $$ so we bought these. They are sturdy, and have good weight. They are NOT "rustic" metal in color or stainless steel in color. They are painted in a semi-gloss grey paint, and do look more "diner" than "industrial". They served their puropse at the party, and we have kept them out. They are growing on me!

After reading other reviews I was very excited to get a set of these stools, especially for a great price. The shipping was very quick, however when I opened the packaging one of the stools was damaged with a bent twisted leg. Customer service was excellent and quickly had a replacement sent out. Unfortunately the replacement had a manufacturer's defect at one of the cross brace welds. This time I used the online customer service chat option, which was quick and very easy to use. A second replacement was sent.... And as soon as I opened the box, the first thing I saw was a large scrape across the seat. After another chat with customer service I am waiting to hear from a specialist at Overstock. Well Overstock, as a first time shopper I am extremely unimpressed with the quality of your products. I may try you again just because of your great customer service, but to fellow shoppers: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

The bar stools were very sturdy, but all four of mine arrived heavily scratched. The color was also not what I was expecting, in the picture they appear to be matte, but they are very shinny and almost look plastic from a distance.

The way this was packed I wasn't sure if the stools were new or used. When I opened it realized at least one of these had seen the light of day and was scratched. Pretty nice if new.

These are solid built, simple, clean, and exactly what we were looking for. And the price is right. You could look at more industrial/academic style stools that are more expensive, don't look near as nice, and are built about the same, but why? Thanks Overstock.

Great product for a great price. Fun and modern, my outdoor bar looks like its in the french country side. They stack so they are easy to store.

These stools are not for outdoor use. Maybe we overlooked this detail prior to ordering, but the insert from the manufacturer clearly states that the stools are for indoor use only. We ordered the grey stools, which are powder coated (not galvanized). The original Pauchard "Tolix" stools are galvanized (and the "grey" version is not painted). These stools look good but will not withstand the elements. We had to return them for this reason. If your intention is to keep the stools indoors, you'll probably enjoy them. They're very well constructed and a fraction of the cost of the "Tolix" originals.

These chairs look good and are quite sturdy for high barstools. The color is a bit off, though; as others reviewers stated, they do appear to be a spray-painted metallic instead of a metal barstool. But it doesn't make them look excessively cheap. But keep in mind that they are pretty uncomfortable and hard.

i need rough looking yet modern stools for my bar. I found these on this webpage and fell in love, was not to sure about the heights but decided to go with the taller ones. My wife say a picture of the screenshot i sent her and loved them as well. i think and am very detailed oriented, but the pictures of the stools are perfect and the color matches fine, you will not get a rugged look out of these, just a clean pro garage look. i have actually seen the rugged version in my local store on 86th and 3rd in nyc and the are flimbsey and cheap. these are solid, sick and stylish, i am 6.4ft and 197 pounds and am so confident on them = ) they aint breaking ! the packaging was solid and came in perfectly ! just a little slow IMO, but really not as i just was impatiente ! WILL MOST DEFINATELY RECOMMENDE THESE !10000000000000%

We ordered the stools for the kitchen island because we liked the matching chairs, which we have in the dining room. Quality is ok, not as well made as the orignial, but can't complain too much given the price. The color is a painted silver, no clear coat, but pretty much in line with the picture. Our main complaint is that customers pay for return shipping if they don't like the product. The stools turned out too big for the kitchen island. We sent them back and had to pay for shipping. We won't order from Overstock again for that reason.

Theae stools are so easy to clean and move around. My 5 yr old climbs on them like they are jungle gym toys and they have proven to be very sturdy. The price cannot be beat.

I am really disappointed by the pictures on Overstock vs. what I received. I was expecting an industrial, galvanized-type look to the stools, but they are a metallic silver-gray with a bit of a sparkle to it, totally clashing with the look I was going for in my kitchen. They do feel like great quality though, a lot sturdier than I was expecting. But, I will be returning.
