This bed came in two large boxes that were delivered in just a week. Each box had a set of directions, but you had to follow the directions in the smaller box that held the extention pieces which might be confusing. Another thing that was confusing about the directions is that they labeled all of the parts on the diagrams by letter, but there were no letters on the actual parts to compare them to. So you had to spend a significant amount of time analyzing each piece (this one has 2 holes, it must be M, this one has 3 holes, it must be N). Otherwise, the directions were easy to follow and tok you step by step through the process. I would highly suggest getting a longer Alan Wrench to put this bed together. There is one included in each box, but it is fairly short and you need more torque on several occasions. Also, for putting in the bed slats, I suggest a power screwdriver. That would be a lot of screws to put in by hand. We (myself and my sister-in-law, 2 women ) put it together in about 2 hours.
My children have been sleeping on it for 3 weeks now and I've slept on it 2 nights. The picture is a good representation of the finished bed. We saw similar beds, albeit a bit nicer looking, for 3 times the price. The only thing that is a little strange with this bed is the ladder. There is no obvious place for it as there would be on other beds. The placement they show it in the picture is a little awkward. I think it makes more sense to put in on the end if you have the room and that is what I will eventually do. Because I have little ones that I don't want climbing up there, I didn't attach it for now. My older children have no problem climbing to the second bunk.
How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Good
Please tell us about the quality of the product. Good quality for the price
How accurate was the on site description of the product? Good
I put this together myself. The materials are not super high quality solid wood. But it shipped free, and I was able to get something that looked nice for less than half of the cost at other sites. My 5 year old sleeps on top, and my2 yr old sleeps on bottom. I also purchased the blueberry memory foam mattress from this site and it fits very well on the top bunk. We've had this for almost a year with no problems. I like that the bed are able to seperate. A great value.
When the extension is added, what is the actual clearance from the bottom of it to floor so we can get a drawer to go under? Also is the width listed from the outside or inside of the wood pieces?samanthony on Aug 14, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question

What is the recommended depth for the top bunk mattress?kbnnn on Jul 21, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello kbnnn, a standard thick mattress or thinner would fit best here, this is to ensure the safety rails are effective. Thank you for shopping with us. overstockcustomercare1 on Jul 29, 2013
