    • Plush Pad

We got this rug pad to accompany the Safavieh rug we purchased and read how thin the rug was alone. This rug pad really helps. It's true to dimension (and the rug wasn't, so I had to cut it). It's very plush. Ours is on a hardwood floor, and you can immediately feel the difference.

    • really good quality pad

This is my first time with a pad other than the waffle ones and it's not going to be my last. I can't believe the difference. Worth the extra few dollars over the cheaper ones.

    • The Second One I Purchased

I purchased the same rug pad a year ago (in the 6'x 9' size) and came back for a second in the 8'X10' size. I have them under area rugs which are on my tile floor. Prior to getting them I could see tile marks on the top of my rugs. Now my rugs feel soft and comfy. No slippage.

    • Supreme and Durable pads -- can't tell difference

I purchased the 8x10 Supreme Felted Dual Surface rug pad and also an 8x10 Durable Hard Surface and Carpet rug pad (which costs a little bit more than the Supreme). The main difference that I have seen was in how they were packaged. The Supreme was sent folded up in a big square, the Durable was sent rolled on a heavy cardboard tube. Both arrived in good condition, and both flattened out equally. I have had them both for about 3 weeks and really can't tell any difference between them except that the felt on the Supreme is perhaps a bit scratchier, and maybe a slight bit thicker than the Durable (which cost more). Save your pennies and get the Supreme, unless you have a desire to have an 8' heavy cardboard tube as well. ;-)

    • Thick, but smelly

This pad is nice and thick, and it has rubber on one side to grip the floor. No complaints on its function. Oh, but it stinks. After we unwrapped it, I put it outside for the day. When we brought it back in, the smell was still strong enough to make me nauseated. Back outside it went for another day, and still no better. We finally just put it down. Now that the rug is over it, it doesn't smell anymore, but I don't ever want to pick up that rug, because that stench cannot be anything but harmful.

    • Terrific product

Because of the heavy traffic in my family room, I needed something that would really hold my area rug in place. I have hard wood floors and the area rug was always roaming. It was a little tough to cut, but the results were impressive. The rug has not moved an inch since I put it in place over a month ago. With the extra pieces, I put them under certain areas of my sectional sofa and they have not moved a bit! I was thrilled with the results. The only negative is that is is not as cushiony as regular carpet padding, but carpet padding will not hold the rug in place at all.

Overstock has always delivered great products and service, and has once again exceeded my expectations.

    Questions & Answers

    • What is the difference between this product ( the supreme) and the superior rug pad? Both can be used on hard wood floors, prevents bunching and slippage. And both provide padding. Is one thicker?

      • Hello Jen101, I do apologize, I am not able to compare this item without an Item number to product you are referring to. Thank you for shopping with us.

    • Why did you choose this product?

      • Nice rug for the price.

      • I have had area rugs in the past and did not put a pad, just a non-slip mesh, under the rugs and it damaged my wood floors and the backing on the rugs began to fall apart. I will never put area rugs down again without proper padding.

      • I had already found this product at another store, and this was WAY cheaper.

      • I already have one from Overstock and it is fantastic! I could even trim with my kitchen shears. Thank you!

      • we liked it.

      • Great reviews!

      • I have hardwood floors and was looking for a pad to provide non slip ability and protect my floors. Customer reviews were good.

      • Needed one. Already have others.

      • To go under a carpet I already own.

      • Recommendation from another person to go under my dining room rug.

      • Positive experience from previous purchase. I tried alternative and this just worked out way better.

      • Already purchased and liked it once. Repeat purchase for dining room.

    • Looking for a rug pad that is odor resistant, hypo-allergenic, mold, mildew and moth resistant, is this one the one you recommend

      • Hello candicecohen, this pad is made with 100-percent recycled synthetic fiber and all-natural rubber/latex. Thank you for shopping with us!

    • do you have larger pads like 12x15

      • Hello geraldjohn, I am attaching a link that will show you our 12x15 rug pad options. Thanks for shopping with us! A.S.

    • Can this pad be cleaned with a carpet machine?

      • Hello kj, we do not recommend cleaning this with a carpet cleaning machine. It can be vacuumed and spot treated with a mild detergent and water. Thank you for shopping with us! A.C.

    • Should the pad (when used over carpeting) be cut the exact size of the rug or slightly smaller. I am assuming the rubber side is up when installing it over carpeting??

      • No the rubber side is down, and yes slightly smaller.

      • The pad should be cut a little smaller so you can't see it.

      • 1/2 inch to 1 inch smaller than rug. Rubber side down as that creates the friction with the floor, and the felt or non-rubber side does the same with the rug.

      • With more research, I discovered that, yes indeed, if putting a rug over carpet you would lay the mat with the rubber side up.

      • My flooring guy said it should be one to two inches smaller all around to allow the area rug edges to "float"down at the edges over the floor or carpet. This prevents tripping hazards.

    • Is the polypropylene fiber treated with any flame retardants? Are there any toxicology information about this substance (should be since made in USA). Thank you

      • I don't know about flame retardants however there was no smell

      • There was no labeling that I noticed to indicate this.

    • I had a sisal rug with "rubber/latex" backing and it stuck to my engineered hardwood floor. I now have a new engineered hardwood floor and want a pad for my jute rug. What type is best? Is there such a thing as felt only and nothing else ?

      • Yes, Overstock carries one brand in particular called "Rotell" but I'm sure there are others as well. I have these on engineered/laminate for over a year now and there is no damage.

      • Latex (natural rubber) can mark hardwood floors, as the latex may, under heat & pressure, "bond" to the hardwood.

    • What is the difference between this pad and the "Premium Dual Felted Rug Pad of the same size )

      • Hello rywaller, They are very similar pads. The construction is basically the same. the only real difference is they are made by different companies. I hope this helps. Thanks for shopping with us.

    • Does anyone know what the IIC rating is on this pad? We're moving into a multi-family complex and, with two young boys, we want to lessen the noise of them running around for the tenants below.

      • No, I don't. But u could always buy two if u r concerned about the kids running around and making noise.

      • I don't know the rating but it is VERY thick and absorbs much sound, we love it for the cushioning also.

      • It is more dense than any apartment padding I've ever seen...nice of you to be conscientious of your neighbors :-)

    • I have hard wood floors. Does the felt side touch floor or rug?

      • It touches the rug- the bottom of the pad is a rubber material. It is one of the best rug pads I have purchased.

      • Felt side touches rug; felt side touching wood floor causes mat to slip too easily.

      • Love it , great price. Wish I'd known about it sooner

      • The felt side touches the rug. I like the pads but currently having my runners slip off the pads even though they have a rubberized backing touching the fiber side of the pad. I am going to try using some double sided carpet step to try to get the rugs yo stay put.

      • The felt side touches the rug. The rubberized size faces the floor

      • The latex backing is ont he bottom, felt side on top.

    • Is this product safe for vinyl plank floors?

      • Yes. Use it with the felt side down. The rubber side will touch the carpet

    • When buying a 12' x 8' rug, which size carpet pad would be used? I don't see it in the same size.

      • It came with the bundle at time of check out, i just clicked on it

      • Hello 1mexipina, I would recommend using Item #: 13457622 This is a 9'x12' pad so it would be a bit larger but it can be easily cut down. Thank you for shopping with us.

      • You should get a size down from the rug. I purchased a 8x10 rug and got the 8x10 pad and had to be trimmed. I think if the pad is about an inch from the edge you won't have to trim the pad.

      • I had to trim the pad I bought for my 8 X 10 rug, but it was very easy.

      • I needed a 10x16 pad...bought two 10x8s and saved a ton of money. The two pads butted up to one another perfectly. Also, the pads are easy to trim with good scissors so don't be shy about trimming if necessary.

    • Is the rubber underside the type that will eventually stick itself to the hard wood floor? We had sisal rugs and the rubber foam that was glued to the underside stuck, practically ruined our floors.

      • I don't think that this would stick to floors. It's not that thick kind of rubber.

      • I have real wood floors and mine did not stick to the floor... I must say - I'm in a very low humidity area.

      • I do not have any problems with it sticking to my hard wood floors

      • I got a rug padding although I don't think it would have been necessary. Beautiful rug.

      • No. The pad functions more for the protection of the rug. On a hardwood floor it stabilizes the rug, but it will not prevent it for moving a bit.

      • Don't think so. You have a really look close to see that it is sticky.

    • Could this pad be cut down to go under a smaller rug without damaging the pad ?

      • Yes, very easily.

      • yes, I did this and it worked out perfectly.

      • Yes. Make sure you are using sturdy scissors or a large rotary cutter with a mat underneath though.

      • yes! definitely buuut it is hard to cut with a regular scissors. use a blade/cutting board underneath!

      • yes... I cut mine down because my rug was not exactly 8 x 10 - I used a utility knife with a new blade - take it outside and use a straight edge to guide you.

      • Yes, I cut it with kitchen scissors.

      • yes, i cut a peice off and attched it to the end with masking tape. I've had no problem.

    • What country is this pad made in?

      • Hello cindy9251, This pad is made in the United States. Thank you for shopping; let us know if you have any additional questions.

    • Is this rug available? What is it's item #? What sizes?

      • Hi mattmeg, we tried verifying this information with our support team. Unfortunately we do not offer that specific rug at the moment. We apologize for the inconvenience. May we suggest a few alternatives try item number 13876015, 14063020 and 13672499. We hope this helps. Thanks for shopping with us.

    • You said the weight of the 8x10 rug pad is 12 lb. Similar rug pads are 25+ lb. Are you sure about the weight? It makes me wonder whether this one is lightweight and inferior to seemingly similar pads from other online sources.

      • I just got two of these in 8x10 and I think they are much closer to 25 lbs. The 5x7 might be closer to 12-15 lbs. I'm very pleased with the 3 I just received.

      • I don't know how much it weighs, but it's sufficiently thick and cushy, no sliding of the rug on top. Works great under our rug.

      • It is closer to 25 pounds. It's an excellent pad and I will buy one for all future rugs It makes an astonishing difference.

      • I love my rug pads. They are on my engineered wood floors with no ill effects. They make the rugs so much nicer to walk on. I highly recommend them.

      • This is way heavier that 12lbs! It is probably more like 30lbs

    • will this pad work on a covered balcony under an outdoor rug?

      • I would say no. The felt would absorb any moisture or water.

      • Thank you for your question. This rug pad is not recommended for outdoor use.

      • I don't think so.

      • Yes if the area is covered from rain in all directions and the rug is waterproof itself. Otherwise the felt will get wet and start to mildew.
