Keep your area rug looking great with this non-slip customizable rug pad. Designed for use on hard surfaces or carpet, this felted rug pad provides cushioned comfort and can be easily trimmed to perfectly fit the size of your area rug....more
This rug pad is Exactly what I was looking for. The size is Perfect..it fits underneath my 5X7 rug with a 1 inch rug overlap. PERFECT! It keeps the rug solidly in place and gives it a wonderful extra cushion. This is a very old persian rug that has lost some cushion and this pad makes it a joy to my feet once again!
The rug pad was rolled nicely for shipping and I had no trouble with it laying flat on the floor. The thickness of it makes the area rug very soft to walk on, but it would be too thick near a door. I bought a second one to put under the matching runner in the entry hall and the door doesn't clear the height. I wanted the area rug to overlap the pad so it needed to be trimmed a little and that was easy. I used a yardstick to measure and mark the cut line; then put a 2x4 under the pad so I wouldn't accidently "cut" my hardwood floor. A carpet knife made quick work of the edge that had to be cut. I would not recommend scissors for the job.

We recently had all our hardwood floors restored and bought these rug pads for our existing rugs. The pads are thick and non slip. Slightly oversized and easy to cut down with household scissors. We are very pleased with our purchase.

I needed these pads for rugs on a laminate wood surface which covers a concrete slab. They definitely added cushioning, but I was hoping for something more plush like the padding under wall-to-wall carpeting. In retrospect, I suppose that would create a tripping hazard. So, these are probably better in that regard. They still slip slightly, not enough to create a problem, but IF your surface floor is slippery with socks on, and if you're a little OCD like I am, you will find yourself straightening them fairly often unless the edges are placed under heavy furniture, like a bed.

It's thick, it's cushy, great to stand on , no sliding!
The rug sticks to the pad very well because of the "scratchiness" someone else complained about, and because of the rubber backing my shag doesn't slip on the hardwood, even when my dog is running marrathons! Yes it had a slight smell, so did the shag I bought(and so almost anything new), they will dissapate overnight I had to cut about 5 inches off and I plan on using scraps for other smaller rugs.
Overall very happy with it

I bought the 5' x 8' size and cut into several pieces to work with throw rugs on my tile floor in the kitchen. The pad definitely stays in place, but the rugs slide off the pad because the top of the pad is smooth with nothing to hold the rug in place. The pad works no better for my application than the cheap shelving-type stuff you can get at *********. I gave mine away.
This pad adds a nice cushiony step to your rug while holding it in place. The scratchy side of the felt grips the underside of the rug. The clingy side grips the floor. Like any pad, check under both frequently for dirt or sand accumulation as to not scuff your hardwoods over time.
I looked everywhere for this padding that was reasonable priced and found it here. It is the only kind we will buy. It's also pretty easy to cut with a normal pair of scissors if you can't find the right size.
Overstock, can you please confirm the exact measurements of this rug pad. My area rug carpet 7'10"l x 4'11"w. I want to know if it is exactly 5' x 8' or if it's smaller. I would like to avoid cutting the rug pad. When using an antique rug over carpeting, do you still place the felt side down against the carpeting and the rubber side against the back of the antique rug?azimuth001 on Aug 4, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question

There are two conflicting answers on this board regarding the rubber. As a customer pointed out: "Product details lists this pad as being made from all natural latex/rubber, but under 'materials' it says polypropylene and synthetic rubber. Which is it? It makes a difference - synthetic rubber can deteriorate hardwood floors."
Overstock, please clarify this important point on these pads. It cannot be both synthetic and natural. The type of rubber is critical to the condition of hardwood floors; only natural should be used. Whatever the answer, you may want to change the description to avoid confusion. Thanks!lemon1111 on Mar 1, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
I don't know whether the material is synthetic rubber or polypropylene, but it appears to be natural latex on one side and rubber on the other. The rubberized side grabs the smooth surface of a wood floor well and the other latex side works well with the bottom side of the rug. If you use the rug with the two sides reversed from that, with the latex on the wooden floor, it will slide around.uuwhale13 on Mar 3, 2014
Hello lemon1111, This pad is made of 100-percent recycled synthetic fiber and all-natural rubber/latex. I apologize for any confusion. we will have this updated shortly. Thank you for shopping with us.overstockcustomercare1 on Mar 12, 2014
I say these pads are 1/4" to 3/8". I bought several to go under a whole house full of area rugs over a tile floor. They made a great difference in the comfort. I was able to cut them to custom sizes using a set of tin snips with a straight blade, these worked better than utility scissors because of the thickness. I do however had a slipping problem of the area rugs that are on top of these pads. I have just purchased some double sided carpet tape to see if this will help keep them on the pads. Apparently the top surface is not that easy for the rubber underneath part of the area rugs to stick to-I thought I was getting the correct pads. I am still very satisfied with the quality of the pads.bestcamphost on Jan 25, 2014
1/4" seems about right. I don't really notice any softness or comfort to the rug but it keeps it from moving and will hopefully prolong the life of the rug.lin46449 on Feb 2, 2014
It appears to be 1/4 inch thick. I had no trouble cutting it with a regular pair of scissors--but they were good scissors. They do not slide as I am using them although the custom width of my rugs go on a narrow area of glazed floor tile. If the area where they are used is smooth and much wider than the rug on top of the pad, of if it is in an area where kids race through I think it would tend to slide from their feet pushing the pad around.uuwhale13 on Mar 3, 2014
The pad is 3/8 inches thick. There is no slippage on a hardwood floor.redrivers on Apr 24, 2014

On all my rugs I trimmed the pads so it was one inch smaller than the rug all the way around. My though was that having the edge of the rug setting down on the floor will make it harder to trip on it and it looks like the rug is just thicker, not setting on a pad at all.belralph on May 10, 2013

How do I clean this pad? My dog had an accident (urine) that soaked through. I used my carpet cleaning machine but it stills stinks. Can I put it in a commercial washing machine?dbelle13 on Mar 28, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
1. Dip a white cloth (or a white paper towel with no printing) into the detergent solution and dab repeatedly, then press the cloth on the spot for a few seconds. Wait 15 minutes (it takes time to break down the stain), then soak up the excess liquid with a dry white cloth.
2. Dip a cloth into the vinegar solution and dab repeatedly, then press the cloth on the spot for a few seconds. Wait another 15 minutes. (This is an important step, because white vinegar removes residual detergent, which will attract dirt if left in the carpet.)
3. Rinse by blotting with a cloth soaked in lukewarm water. Wait one hour or until the carpet dries completely. For bad spills, place a 1/2-inch-thick stack of white paper towels over the stain after step 2, then lay a glass baking dish on top for 15 minutes.
4. As long as you see the stain lightening, repeat these steps until it is gone. Thank you for your question. Please feel free to contact us again with any further questions.overstockcustomercare1 on Apr 1, 2013
White vinegar will eliminate the urine smell completely and get rid of the stain. The vinegar smell will go away over time or you can rinse after the vinegar with cool water and let dry. I have four cats that have accidents and I use white vinegar all the time, even in the laundry.katylucyb1 on Feb 9, 2014
