I debated about whether to buy the Premium, Superior or Durable carpet pad offered by Overstock. I assumed that the more expensive pad (Premium or Superior) was better quality than the less expensive (Durable) so I chose the Superior which was middle-of-the-road in price. The Superior is fine, but I recently ordered another rug pad (9 x 12) and decided to try the Durable instead since it was cheaper. I was shocked by the fact that for less money, the quality seemed so much better. The Durable is the Safeviah brand and it is noticeably thicker than the Superior pad. In my opinion, it is a much better value unless you prefer a thinner rug pad. Hope this helps you in your decision-making.

This pad is for an area rug over carpet. The pad doesn't slip on the carpet, but the area rug slips on the pad. It's an improvement to having no pad under the rug (the rug still slides, but does not bunch up like it does with no pad). I'm going to try attaching velcro tape to the pad and rug to help with the slipping, but I shouldn't have to modify the product to get it to work. The best type of pad for rug to carpet is the double-sided sticky type - this holds the rug much better. I would recommend it to a friend only as an improvement, definitely not a solution to the problem.

Product is as advertised. It is between 1/4" and 1/2" thick with a rubber side for hard floors and a fabric side for carpet. The pad holds the rug well such that it does not slip, however it doesn't add much padding or cushion. There are 3 minor issues with the pad: 1) The pad is folded and rolled for shipping. The creases created by folding the pad cause some "bumps" in the overlayed rug. I am hoping these will flatten out over time, but am uncertain they will without specifically laying a heavy item on them for an extended duration. 2) The pad is not cut straight. It was not a perfect rectangle and some edges needed to be trimmed. However, it was easy to trim and this was minor. 3) There is a minor smell to the pad that likely comes from the manufacture process. It is not heavy but it is noticable. As with the creases, I am hoping the smell will dissipate over time as the pad airs out. Overall, the pad does what is advertised and it was worth the price paid.

This is a great carpet pad. I was concerned when I first unrolled it because it is a hair under 1/4 inch thick, but it feels very cushy under the area rug we bought it for. I gave it 2 stars for appearance because, well, it's ugly. But you don't see it, so it doesn't matter. It's rubbery rather than just felt, which keeps it in place fabulously. As far as assembly goes, it was larger than the area rug we bought it for, so it had to be cut. That was a pain in the neck; I should have used a sharpened pair of scissors or a utility knife with a new blade rather than the blade alone, which is what I did. And, I should also have marked the pad with a chalk line or taken the time to mark it out carefully with a heavy marker and tape measure before I started. It is difficult to keep a straight line over an area that wide across, so I am grateful that you can't see my choppy cutting. Over all, it does the job, and I would buy one just like it again.

compared to retail stores, this pad is a very good value. Works great under a thin oriental rug; very easy to cut to shape. Nice thickness; holds rug in place. Very pleased with this product.

I read how great this rug pad was. I was looking for something really cushy to walk on and sit on under my rug. I read great reviews about this product. Honestly I cannot tell the difference if it is there or not. Unimpressed.It also is the wrong size, which other people said in their reviews.

Unfortunately I had to return the rug which this was going under- but I decided to keep it as eventually i will find the perfect rug,,,,and rug pads are a good thing to use.

Product arrived promptly and in good condition. It serves the purpose but is not as soft as I'd like. It will protect the area rug but doesn't feel as cushiony as other carpet pads.

We ordered this to go under a wool rug that we also bought on Overstock. Works great under the wool rug on hardwood. Easy to trim if you need it a little smaller than it is. A lot less expensive than others we have seen. The rug won't budge, and is a lot more padded.

This is an excellent pad for use under oriental rugs on hardwood floors.

I received the rug pad and found it very easy to install. I did have to trim some of the edges due to rug no being totally square because rug was hand made. I trimmed with utility knife without difficulty, however I have noticed some raveling on edge where it was trimmed, not a big deal though. Pad was placed on carpet with 8X11 rug placed over it. Pad is good quality for price paid and after one year of having 8X11 rug "bunching up" when walked on, I purchased this pad and have had no problems with it bunching up. I would recommend this pad.

This is a good rug pad, nice and thick, non skid, makes my rug very soft and cozy. I would recommend it. It did need to be cut down a little to fit my rug, but that was easy enough to do with plain scissors.

What a great value! This is the cheapest by far that I have seen for a carpet pad this thick. It makes my carpet feel that much more substantial on my hardwood floors. And to think, I was going to spend almost as much at a different store for just a carpet mat!!

I've had this thing for a year and it still smells funny. It didn't add any additional cushion to the rug, at all. It has protected the floor very well through various stains, but I really can't get over the smell. It only smells in the humid months of the year, as strange as that sounds... I will purchase from overstock again, but I would think hard on this purchase.

I have been using this rug pad and the one that is slightly thinner for years now. I would not put a rug on my floors that doesn't have a pad underneath, and these are the best for the money. I usually have to trim the pad to fit perfectly, but I like that. They do help rugs last longer. Will definitely buy again when I get another rug.

I purchased the pad, not knowing what I needed, but the reviews help me make the right selection for my carpet. My carpet is 8X12 so I purchased a slightly smaller pad. That worked well for me because I didn't have to cut the thick carpet pad. It is good quality and has held up for over a year with no difficulty experienced.

This is the best I have ever bought for use with an area carpet over carpet. The area rug stays in place and the wrinkles are gone. Would definitely buy again.
