I'm disappointed that this pad is much thinner than I was expecting. We have two similar pads that we purchased from a local carpet store for the same price, but they were twice as thick as this pad. I do like the wool top and the rubber bottom to help protect my floor. If the rug we ordered would have had a better lining on the bottom, I probably would have returned this product for a refund.

It is terribly thin; much thinner than indicated. It is scarcely 1/8" thick, if that. I am very disappointed in this product. I expected it to be at least a "full" 1/4" as were previous ones that I've ordered. The thinness compares to one of the cheap waffle-weave garden-variety pads. This will keep me from purchasing a similar product from this source in the future or from recommending this product to anyone.

If you are planning on using this rug for a hard surface, it's great...highly recommended. It should not be advertised as being appropriate for 'rug over carpet,' though. It is way too thin for that use. My new bedroom rug is "wavy" (best desriptive word I can think of), because it does not have a solid foundation under it. As an interior designer, I should have known better. For rug to carpet purposes, you need a much thicker rug pad, which makes a rug on top of carpet lay down smooth and flat, not wavy. Those can be purchased through high-end rug stores and many rug cleaning/repair businesses. I tried to save the expense (they are somewhat expensive), but cannot find one online. This one will have to go downstairs on the hardwood floors when I can afford the extra money for the really thick one. BUT, as I said, if you need a rug pad for your hard floor, this one would be great.

I couldn't find a pad like this locally - couldn't find the size or the material - so ordered from Overstock. The pad is not thick enough to add any real cushioning to the rug but is excellent for keeping the rug in place on my laminate floor. The size was perfect for the 9x12 rug - slightly smaller so it doesn't show. I'm very satisfied with the product for the price.

The pad is as it appears in the photo. It is similar to the pads that we have purchased with our Oriental rugs at fancy rug stores, however, it is not as thick and cushy. It is what I expected for the price. From my experience, the rubbery backing does start to lose little pieces that add the the crumbs we vacuum up from under the edges of the rugs.

This is the 5th Superior Hard Surface and Carpet Rug Pad I have ordered from Overstock. I have slowly been replacing all my old rug pads. This is a great pad. It keeps my rugs in place on my hardwood floors and adds a nice cushion to my rugs...thus extending their life. Very happy with my purchase of these pads...and the price is excellent on this high quality pad.

Excellent product - keeps my 9x12 oriental rug (which sits on top of wall to wall carpet) from bunching up around the feet of the sofa. Lays beautifully flat.

This type of pad is very hard to find and very expensive. I was thrilled to find it so reasonable. Keep in mind, even though it says the size is 9x12, it is really a bit smaller (an inch or two, I can't remember) and you should take that into account if you are planning to cut it down for smaller rugs. There is a good reason for this! The pad is suppose to be about two inches less than the rug all the way around. The way it was explained to me, this avoids the rug's edge curling up and causing a tripping hazard! (who knew?!). I had no trouble cutting through. I measured and marked what I needed, placed cardboard under the line and scored it with a razor. Then I took my scissors and cut all the way through easily. I have two rambunctious Golden Retreivers who are very sad they can't shift the rugs anymore. You can absolutely feel the difference under your feet - great cushioning. If you have hand woven Oriental rugs, responsible dealers recommend a "hair pad", I would say this is a great equivalent, plus the bottom lining stops shifting.

This rug padding added a thick, soft feel to walking on my oriental carpet. Would highly recommend.

My area rug in the master bedroom kept bunching up because of the heavy furniture on it. No matter how many times I tried to straighten it out, the rug refused to lay flat on the carpeted floor. After "installing" the rug pad, there is still a minor amount of wrinkling on the foot traffic section. I attribute this to my area rug not being very thick to begin with, but now the rug definitely has a much smoother, more aesthetic appearance. It's nicer to walk on, too, with the extra bit of cushion. The rug pad was easy to cut to size with a sharp pair of scissors. The smell was a bit overpowering for a few days, but has since gone away. Overall this rug pad is a great value and a product which performs as it should. Thanks, Overstock!

This was one of the few places we could find a pad large enough for our rug and it also happened to be the least expensive. It came very quickly and really seems to be of good quality. It has created a nice cushion for our 9X13 rug.

The pad is great, but it is 9x12, not 9x13. I contacted Overstock, who assured me it is 9x13. When it came, the label clearly said 9x12. Not sure why the product name hasn't been updated yet. I will be buying another.

This is the 3rd Superior Felted Rug pad I have purchased, upgrading from the rubber ones. These felted pads are incredibly durable, thicker than many, and keep the rugs in place even with Great Danes running around on them. If I could just find rugs as durable as these pads we'd be set.

This mat is perfect for use under area rugs, there is no chance of it sticking to the floors--I have had very bad experience with other mats. It can be cut to size with a box cutter.

i love the rug pad and it was a great quality but it's actually 9x13 and not 9x12 so i had to cut off a foot of the pad.

It was perfect under my new thin rug. It stopped slipping and made the rug feel much thicker!

I bought this padding for the very gorgeous rug I also bought here at o.co. While the rug is dense and realy top quality, adding the padding to it makes walking on the rug a decadent experience! I'd recommend it to anyone. It makes a good rug cushier, and it'd extend the life of any rug you laid it under.
