My elderly parents older hot water dispenser quit working, so I got online to find the best for the money, without sacrificing quality. They didn't need anything fancy, just hot water. Since my dad drinks a lot of tea, I wanted a large capacity. This unit works great for them. The only drawback I find (hence, the 4 stars) is that you have to press the "lock" button before pressing the dispense button. By the time I got to their home the directions were not there, so maybe we aren't doing something correctly. All in all, this is a fine unit, with a nice push button feature of dispensing. This is especially helpful for elderly folks that lack dexterity.

    Does what a water heater does, boil water nice and hot for convenience. The plastic feels flimsy, but you get what you pay for. It is pretty basic, no fancy features. Thats ok, i didnt want to pay for fancy features.

  • The only review says one must press the "lock" button before pressing the dispense button. Is this true, and if so, why? Is it some sort of safety feature? Is the lock button difficult to push?

  • How long does it take for 2 cups of water to get hot?

    • Thank you for contacting us home1814. This unit is designed to have a full pot of water brought to boil and the unit will keep the water at about 200 degrees Fahrenheit so hot water is always readily available. To boil a full pot of water (3 literes) takes about 10 minutes. Of course you can do only 2 cups (we estimate about 3 minutes), but if you are looking for something to boil small amounts water every now and then, a kettle would be more suitable. Such as item sku 12704237 - 2 cups with this unit is about a minute. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
