A real clod buster - outstanding small tiller Being a benevolent dictator I chose to purchase the Sun Joe Max 9 amp electric tiller to aid my spouse in breaking up the decomposed granite so she could enjoy a backyard garden. We used a backhoe to rip up the crust of the decomposed granite followed by a maul to break up the larger clods so that the tiller could begin to pulverize the clods into smaller clods and then into a soil like material. The tiller has worked an area of 300 square feet and shows no signs of damage to the tines or gear case. My spouse got quite a work out but was able to handle the tiller and keep it under control. We then added finer soil and organic material that was well mixed into the soil by the tiller to a depth of 12 inches. We were both amazed by the power, ease of handling, and durability of the little tiller.
