Small Root buster
 from SC,  Mar 30, 2011

Easy to assemble...lightweight to use Easily tore up roots and soil in our flower garden. We have sandy & back-filled soil with may small tree roots. The unit had no problem cultivating this type of root or terrain, except for large roots. I was able to cultivate our front area quickly.

Electric tiller
from Louisville, TN,  Mar 23, 2011

I was thrilled to use this tiller. The Wow's were all over the yard.. It did a much better job than expected and did it exceptionally fast. It turned the existing garden area in a flash and extended it into grass areas never turned with ease... Wonderful purchase and I recommend it highly.

Right Size
from Owasso, OK,  Feb 22, 2012

Perfect size to use in raised bed gardening. Turning over loose soil and turning in compost, it does a fine job, but I doubt that it would be much help on prepping new beds with unturned soil. Perfect for the use that I have for it.

Great deal for smaller jobs
from Suwanee, GA,  Jun 7, 2011

Worked pretty well using it to help till an area for a flower/shrub garden. The soil was very packed and rocky, so I had to loose it up a bit first with a pick ax. Once it got into the soil, it worked pretty well. I did go through it a couple times to get adequate depth.

Love it!
from Corral de Tierra, CA,  Feb 8, 2011

It did a wonderful job breaking up dirt that hadn't been tilled for over 20 years. Great price; cheaper than directly from the maker.

Great Machine
from San Diego,  Feb 7, 2011

I bought this based on the reviews I'd read. This machine is GREAT! I have a small garden about 1000sf. It has 5 small raised beds. I can get that tiller in those small beds and bam, they are done. It sure beats turning the soil over by hand. I gave it 4 stars because the long cord keeps geting in the way. I'm afraid I will run over the cord with the tines. I have to throw the cord over my sholder to keep it out of the way. There is no bumbing up and down with this machine, it really gets into the soil.

great tool
from Ft. Myers, FL,  Feb 2, 2011

I love this tiller. It made quick work of the row I was working on. In the past I had to wait for my husband to pull out the big tiller and do the whole garden at once, because you didn't want to pull that thing out very often. This I wouldn't mind pulling out every day. Husband was sceptical. I'm delighted!

better than expected
from Oklahoma City,  Nov 3, 2010

The far end of my backyard is solid red clay soil, almost like concrete. I had a great time with this tiller breaking up that soil so that my Photinias could get more water when it rains. No oil or gas is a big plus. I only weigh 125 pounds and had no problems controlling this tiller even when it skipped a little when initially meeting the solid clay. Had so much fun with it that I did all my other garden areas with it. I've had two knee surgeries and am almost 60 years old. Thanks to my Sun Joe, I won't be shoveling much anymore!

Tiller
from Cape Cod,  Oct 5, 2010

I have always owned gas powered tillers hardly ever used them as they were large and difficult to get going and they never last more then a few years with very very little use. I was quite impressed with this little tiller right out of the box. I used it first time to till the front lawn to reseed and I now have a beautiful lawn again. this unit is very easy to put together and use. It will not just sit in the shed it will be used

Cultivator
from Pendleton, NY,  Aug 29, 2010

Great cultivator, gets the job done although it does throw the dirt around abit. Not too heavy to use either, and starts easily. The price was right as well. I used it to til up around some bushes I planted and it did without difficulty, despite working through established grass. Would recommend this to others.

it's a tank
from East Bay,  Jul 18, 2012

I was surprised how powerful it is. It plowed through small mounds of hard pack that I'm preparing for pumpkins. I really didn't think it would be so efficient because it's so cheap. My son put it together and commented that the bolts attaching the arms to the rotor don't seem very strong, and to be careful about stripping them by screwing on too tight. If I never use it again, I have to say that it was worth every penny as opposed to hiring someone to dig up the mounds, or trying to do it myself with a shovel and pick axe. I'm a gramma, and have never used a cultivator before, so reading the instructions was very intimidating. However, I felt in total control of the machine, even as it bounced off of the hardpack a couple of times. My only complaint is that keeping track of the extension cord is awkward.

sun joe tiller
from Northern Nevada,  Jun 4, 2012

After 2 weeks when the shaft busted off I have been trying for a month to get a replasement. It is very strenuous effort using the roto tiller and rocks get stuck often in it. I wish I would have gotten a better model
