Great, but not as glossy as I had hoped
I was hoping that the desk would be very shiny, almost laquer like, but it looks fairly dull up close. However, it does look pretty shiny from far away. If I had seen the desk in person, I might not have bought it. It is a good value for the price and very sturdy and easy to put together, but I was going for a more modern look that I don' t think this captures.

Inexpensive Alternative to West Elm
I've been wanting a West Elm Parsons Desk so when I found this, I jumped on it immdediately. I wish I had read ALL the reviews, because then I wouldn't have expected it to have a glossy finish and look just like West Elm's laquered white desk. The desk was very easy and quick to assemble. Also, the two drawers are a bit shallow so don't expect to stuff too many things in there. Overall, it's a nice, simple desk. While it's a great alternative to the West Elm Parsons Desk, it's not a perfect substitute. If I'm not too lazy, I may look into some spray laquer or shellac to give it that gloss I was hoping for.

Not What I Expected
Some people have said that this desk is like the one at "West Elm" (Parson's Desk). But if you are looking for the shiny lacquered finish (piano finish), THIS IS NOT IT. It has a PAINT FINISH, and is definitely NOT HIGH GLOSS FINISH. Other than that it is what it says it is. Just wanted to inform those who were looking at this as a LACQUERED FINISH desk. What I did to solve the lack of high gloss finish, was just buy a glass top and it made it look a lot better.

Great space saver
Love this desk. Solid wood and sturdy. Two nice thin drawers to fit printer paper or pens, ink, etc. Can fit a bookshelf or filing cabinet under the desk. Room for our apple desktop and writing area and a printer. Big desk for small space. Looks great.

Excellent simple student desk!
This desk is made of real wood and was very easy to assemble. It is perfect for a student to spread out their books and paperwork. I am really happy with this desk and you can't beat the price especially for real wood. The drawers are small though, so you will need additional storage for your accessories.

just what we were looking for
This desk was for my son's room and it looks great. He actually looks forward to doing his homework now. The previous good reviews sold me on purchasing this desk and I couldn't be happier. It does in fact look like a good replica of the west elm. Thank you overstock for another good product.

Good, simple desk.
I needed a simple, solid, white desk for a corner of my den. I didn't want it to stand out too much, or be too bulky. Since the walls are white, I wanted it to blend in and almost be a part of the wall. This desk fit the bill. It's large enough to have a flat screen monitor, laptop, and still some surface space for writing and even a vase or two to make it pretty. I might get another one for my daughter's bedroom. Good price, too. Much better than some of the other desks on this site and other external sites. Oh, one caveat, the drawers are super slim, so don't plan to use this desk for major storage.

Love the desk!!!
I'll say what most other people are saying. I wanted the WE Parson's Desk and couldn't afford it right now. This is a great knock-off. The legs are not exactly the same width as the top of the desk is thick, but it's a close match. It doesn't have a high-gloss finish, but it's not matte either. I will probably lightly sand it and put a glossy water-based polyurethane coat on it. I put it together in about 10 minutes with the allen wrench provided.
- How did the color on site compare with the actual product? It's bright white. My monitor shows off white, but I asked the online chat person so I knew what I was getting.
