Got two of these desks (the second was a replacement of the first, which we had hoped was defective). Both suffer from the same problem - the finish comes right off the desk exposing all white material. This happens from normal use - moving a keyboard around, moving paper around, etc... It happened immediately with both desks, during the first day of use. I would not buy this desk if you expect the finish to last. Having said all of this, if you are looking for a sturdy nice sized (this is the largest desk of its kind/style I found anywhere) then this is the desk for you. For its price, the desk is surprisingly sturdy and well made, but the finish is some sort of spray on cheap stuff. Overstock is fantastic with returns, so A+ for that Overstock, but this desk shouldn't even be offered for sale without a disclaimer.

The desk is sturdy and well made. It was easy to assemble. It is a simple desk with two drawers. The drawers have no glides but work very well. I really like the quality black finish. It is not just the color but also the smoothness of the flat surfaces, all edges and corners of tabletop and all legs that are so pleasant to the touch. It is a handsome student desk and an excellent value. I am very pleased with its function and appearance. I highly recommend the product.

nice slim profile- looks very modern. just attach the legs (2 people make the job much easier) and you're ready to go! the drawers- while deep- are quite shallow.

I was looking for a simple yet sleek desk for my bedroom. I really liked the simplicity and modernity of this desk. It arrived quickly, and I think it was easy to assemble (thank you, boyfriend, for sparing me that job). It looks great, and it was fairly inexpensive, however other reviews were accurate in indicating that the finish comes off very easily. The smallest, most minor of scratches have taken off the finish. I knew this buying the desk, so I am not going to return it, and still think the style and design along with the cost make it a worthwhile purchase.

Easy assembly, solid construction, overall good product. The desk I received had a little dent in it but no big deal. Only downfall is its made in China.

Bought this desk for our son's room. It is perfect because he does a lot of homework and his laptop sits on it perfectly, as well as his speakers and his television. We also own the same desk in white. We've had it for years and it still looks great!

I have had no problem with the finish, all the pieces were shiny black and still are, and I can't even imagine what anyone can do to create scratches on the surface, as I am constantly moving papers and pc components around and have no scratches at all. As I type the monitor wobbles, so the center of the desk isn't as sturdy as the ends, but as long as the monitor is the heaviest thing on here I am not worried. The drawers can only hold pens and small objects, which I expected based on the description. I put a rolling black file cabinet under the desk on one side and use that for more storage. All in all, very pleased with the desk for the low price, good looks and ease of assembly.

This is a solid, sturdy desk. I like the width of it-- I can really spread out all my papers and materials. I agree with a few comments that the paint does scratch a bit so you might want to consider a desk blotter. Also, the drawer height is not that tall, so don't count on storing too much stuff here. Overall, very satisfied with the purchase.

I'm so happy with my purchase. This desk was easy to assemble and looks great in my office. I love how the material is a shiny black. The desk itself seems sturdy. I use it for my laptop and desk lamp.

It's a nice black table. It's glossy. I put my computer and speakers on it and they fit nicely. I'd recommend it for a smaller sized room.

I was very please how the product was packaged and delivered. The instructions were clear and all the hardware and tools were provided. I was happy to know I could assemble the desk by myself. After I had it together I noticed the cracks in the finish so I took some photos and call customer support. I really didn't want to disassemble the whole thing and send it back. After discussing the situation with a very helpful agent and emailing the photos to to her. She gave me a discount on the product. And with the help of a Sharpie felt tip marker I filled in the cracks. I then bought a piece of glass to cover the top of the desk and you would never be able to see the flaws. I love my new work desk and was very pleased with the service from Overstock.com.

This desk is just what I was looking for. It was very easy to put together and is very sturdy. It did come with some very minor scratches; fortunately, I'm not too particular about that kind of thing. You should also know that the drawers are quite shallow, but slide easily.

I bought this desk for my daughter's room. It is very plain and black so it fits in the modern theme she has. The box was heavy, I barely got it into the house myself, but after unpacking was able to take it upstairs pretty easily piece by piece. It went together very easily, insert legs and two bolts for each leg. I did need a second person to help turn it over just to be safe. The desk is very sturdy and I'm happy with it. The drawers are a bit less level of quality. I can see these being damaged or falling apart in the future if the user isn't gentle. My 14 yr old isn't too rough on things so I believe this will last her for as long as she is still living with us. The finish makes me a little nervous, it has a slight gloss and will show scratches very easily. A previous reviewer mentioned the finish wore off easily. I'm going to purchase a piece of glass to sit atop the desk to save it from scratches caused by sliding books, lamps and such across the top. She can also put pictures and things under the glass top to personalize it. The pieces all have a common, single finish.. so no plastic piece to peel off the edge. For the cost of this desk I am very very happy. I needed something inexpensive, plain, black... but it needs to last for several years. I think this will fit the bill nicely. Cheap pressboard desks with the sticker/finish don't last and they look bad really quick... and this desk didn't cost that much more. I am very happy with this purchase. Thank you!!
