We had some difficulty putting this item together. The top of the chest wouldn't line up correctly, but with pressure it finally slipped into place correctly. The pre drilled holes for the door magnets (closure) was off. We had to place them further up so the doors would stay closed. Overall we are happy with our purchase, and we have received many compliments on it.Read More
I purchased this as a housewarming gift to hold wedding china and crystal in a very limited space. It definitely fulfilled it's purpose and looked nice too. Picture is very accurate as are the reviews about assembling the product. Tricky to do, but my husband is handy and was able to do it. Not for the mechanically inept. Also, the shipping experience was great!Read More
I LOVE THIS DISPLAY CASE. IT IS HEAVY BECAUSE THEY HAVE USED REAL WOOD AND NOT GLUED TOGETHER CHIPS AND SAW DUST. TOOK MY FRIEND TWO HOURS TO ASSEMBLE. NOT COMPLICATED. LOOKS GREAT. I LOVED IT SO MUCH I BOUGHT ANOTHER. DEEP ENOUGH SO I TOOK ALL THE SMALL APPLIANCES OFF COUNTER(LIKE BREAD MAKER,GRAIN MILL,ETC.). SECOND ONE STORES COOK BOOKS AND LIQUOIR.Read More
The cabinet looks great next to our fireplace and I found it easy to put together. Our last step will be to cut a few holes in the back panel for our media component cables to fit through.Read More
Upon opening and inspecting the package I didn't see anything ruined that would have alerted me to the bad quality of the manufacturing, but as I got further into the project of building this piece, I realized what a piece of junk this was. The wood was good quality, but the way that it was manufactured was awful. Most if not all of the hole that were "pre-drilled" were lining up correctly, and for someone that puts things together for a living I was appalled at the fact that on the back panels the holes drilled were half off the side of the wood making it useless. The notches for the shelves were also askew as if someone had blindly produced this product or it had been done by a machine. The doors do NOT close all the way, and the general unsound structure of it is awful. Stay far away from this product.Read More

How to Connect iPods to Your Media Center
Digital music, movies and photos free you from the constraints of having physical media such as CDs and DVDs to enjoy your entertainment; iPods allow you to bring put hours of video and days' worth of music into a portable device. All of that media storage capacity makes iPods the perfect media libraries to connect to your TV and sound system. Below are a few iPod accessories with options for connecting your iPod to nearly any media center.
Best Bookshelf Materials
It's not unusual for bookshelves to incorporate multiple materials for different features. If you haven't decided on wood, wood products, metal or glass bookshelves, look at their relative strengths and weaknesses. Look below to learn the best bookshelf materials. Wood: "Solid wood" is a common term for furniture made from lumber planks. Beware of making assumptions based on labels like "hardwood" and "softwood." Hardwoods are derived from deciduous trees and softwoods from coniferous trees; the terms don't connote their relative strengths. Balsa is a hardwood even though it is very soft, just as Douglas fir is a softwood even though it is very hard. They all make excellent, classic stock material for bookcases. Generally, harder woods are the heavier and more resistant to scratches. Still, softer woods, if treated correctly, will keep just as well as harder woods. Plywood: Made by stacking thin sheets -- "plies" -- of lumber and gluing them under pressure, plywood features grains that alternate direction for strength. Several grades are available, of differing cost. Top and bottom plies can be high-quality woods to create the appearance of fine woods, but edge veneer or molding is needed to complete the illusion. Particleboard: Wood chips glued together carry a much lower price tag than solid wood, and particleboard is denser and more uniform. It's a great choice when cost is the primary consideration. Bookshelves crafted from veneered composite boards can look and feel as good as real wood. MDF: Wood fibers, tiny chips and sawdust collected and glued into sheets form medium-density fiberboard (MDF). Low-cost MDF makes an excellent base for veneers; plus, its strength is consistent and it shapes well. Metal: There's a reason most library bookshelves are made from metal: Metal bookcases are resistant to moisture and fungus, their low-friction shelves are easier on books' bindings and metal's strength-to-weight ratio can't be beat. Their cost usually comes in below any other material. Glass: Glass bookshelves weigh more than other types, but if you plan on assembling your bookshelves only once, the style points can be well worth it. Tempered glass shelves (in wood or metal uprights, called "standards") give your home an unbeatable contemporary feel, and glass bookcases' smooth, transparent surfaces add brilliant levity to a decorating piece that might otherwise be notably opaque and heavy. Best Ways to Use Paper Shredders
If you're concerned about protecting your personal information and sensitive documents, a paper shredder is an important tool for properly destroying documents. Paper shredders are made with multiple security features. Some shredders cut items into long strips, while cross-cut paper shredders go even further and shred documents into small diamond-shaped pieces. Here are some of the best ways to use a paper shredder to protect your identity and sensitive information. Shred paper documents. Shredding documents containing personal identification reduces the chance of someone obtaining personal information such as your social security number, address, birth date and phone number. Medium-sensitivity documents containing addresses and phone numbers can safely be disposed of with a normal cross-cut or thin strip paper shredder. For more private information and confidential documents, shredders that are medium or high security are the safest selection. These high-end paper shredders cut paper into even smaller pieces. Dispose of media. Some paper shredders are durable enough to destroy CDs and DVDs. As modern life becomes increasingly digital, more and more sensitive information is stored electronically. To protect this data, the right paper shredders reduce CDs and DVDs into jagged shards of plastic, making it impossible for anyone to retrieve sensitive data. Light-duty paper shredders won't shred plastic, but shredders that are medium to heavy duty are capable of shredding CDs and DVDs as well as paper. Destroy old credit cards. Simply breaking an old credit card in half or cutting it up by hand isn't really a safe way to dispose of these easily compromised items. To be sure your credit information is safe, run old or non-used cards through a medium to heavy-duty paper shredder. View All Paper Shredders Back to Guides Directory View All Paper Shredders
