I ordered this chair when there were no reviews yet and decided to take a chance and get it anyway. I'm really unhappy. When the chair arrived in the mail it was missing about half of the hardware, didn't have any plastic or bubble wrap protecting the wood, and had a ton of chunks out of the wood where it had banged against itself. There was also a big hole in the box which is why the hardware probably fell out and went missing somewhere in transit. I contacted customer service (which was great) and they sent the new hardware. When I went to put the chair together for a second time I noticed that the manufacturer had actually sent me two left arms instead of a right and a left. So i had to call Customer service again and have them send me a right arm. Haven't received it yet. But I would certainly not recommend this chair to anybody. Overstocked.com customer service has been great but this chair and the manufacturer is super crappy.
This item needs assembly. The instructions provided were wrong - mixing up two different screws for different purposes. And then the instructions were simply wrong with regard to where something needed to be screwed in - this required me to get out my own electric screwdriver and create my own holes. I suspect these issues created the highly discounted price and availability. Not much fun to put together, and anti-climactic as far as enthusiasm for a fun new furniture item, given the negative issues.
This chair turned out to be what I hoped from its picture. It is sturdy, not flimsy nor wobbly. Even tho the back and seat are slats, the cushions are adequate and it's quite comfortable. Firm enough to provide needed support but soft enough to cushion. Smart looking. The smallish size fits perfectly in the space I bought it for and it blends in well with my other furniture. I preferred the brown chair - sold out - so I got the black one, which works just as well. I'm happy with it.
