Steel Silvertone Side Chair (Set of 2)

I really spent weeks reviewing consumer comments on various styles, materials and price points before deciding on purchasing these chairs. I am extremely pleased with my purchase for the following reasons: 1. Color was "spot on" when inspecting them in person 2. Delivery was swift and everything arrived safely without the slightest damage 3. These chairs are solid and sturdy, welded nicely, no sharp edges, yet they arent heavy clunkers. 4. I have several large family members and chair holds 250-300lb without incident 5. Size is perfect for my smaller style kitchen. The backs peep over the table maybe 8-10 inches, rather than the 14-16 inches my windsor back chairs did, so ultimately, my kitchen looks more spacious. 6. What can I say about clean-up? Ahhhhh, easy breezy!! Spill something, drip something, just wipe it off clean. No staining like on my Whitewashed Windsors. 7. The price point really was amazing for the quality. Usually you get what you pay for; this time, "we consumers" come out on top because the cost is very deceiving in regards to the quality of these chairs. Well done, Overstock!!!!!!! Thank you! Lastly, I have back issues, problems with discs, so again, I was really surprised when I could feel the backs of these chairs supporting my weary back in all the right places. I could sit in these chairs for hours and never complain. Possibly the wide contoured seats, combined with the mid back support that hits ever so comfortably across the middle to upper back, is the secret to these really great chairs.

My family and I are very pleased with these chairs. We have been wanting aluminum navy style chairs to go with our antique pedestal table. They are, however, insanely expensive! I found these and ordered just one set at first to make sure they would work. I was unsure about the "steel silvertone". When they came in, I was VERY pleased. They are a little darker than aluminum chairs (as per the pictures), but I think the deeper color is actually better. They provide the right look without taking over the decor. Also, the description didn't include weight so I was a little worried that, being steel, they would be too heavy. They are actually just right... about the same weight as the worn-out wooden chairs they are replacing only they are completely welded together and therefore not rickety at all with no danger of becoming so. I have 3 teenage boys, and I believe these will stand the abuse that comes with big boys. I went on to order 2 more sets to complete our set of six.

These are steel chairs, not aluminum like the originals. They are heavier than the originals, which is nice (they don't tip as easily). The shape is also not as refined as the original naval chairs. The front corners of the seats are fairly pointy, and the undersides of the seats are sharp where your hands go when you pull the chair in. Overall, decent quality for the price.

I was excited to find these navy look alikes, but I was really sad when they arrived. Overstock did send them quickly, but the box was really beat up. I opened the box and found that 6 of the 8 foot pads were already broken. Both chairs also had dents in the seats. The sides of the chairs are sharp...and the welds are horrible. They look really, really cheap....I mean, really cheap! They have a weird gray colored paint that is covered with a clearcoat. Not even close to the originals. The picture looks a thousand times better than what you get in person. If you are looking for a navy replica- this is not it...not even close! Overstock was great about taking them back....no problem at all. Wish this product was as good as their customer service, LOL.
