This trunk was so surprising in how great it looks, how easy it was to assemble, how big it is, and how well the top works safely; all parts went together perfectly and now it lives in the living room holding extra blankets and throws and pillows. Safe for children because the top doesn't fall dowm, it has to be pushed gently downward to close.

I like the trunk but is not the most sturdy. Can only handle 30 lbs on top and 50 inside. Needs to be assembled. Hinges are hard to but on, but hardware is labeled well. Looks pretty nice.

I bought the trunk/cocktail table mainly to store books and magazines. And it does have a relatively large storage space. It has a plush and unique look to it. It is designed with buttons that almost exactly match the bottoms of my living room sofa bed and ottoman. And the cherry wood matches exactly with my entertainment center. It is a pretty piece of furniture and have received compliments from neighbors and friends about it.

i really like this trunk. it's thick wood, easy close (so it doesn't slam shut) and looks very elegant in the room.

The quality is about right for the price. The side panels and handles look a little cheap, but the top is pretty sturdy and it's a good color. Iwanted something little more rustic chic, but searched all over and couldn't find anything reasonable. Note - it clearly says a 60 pound weight limit, so don't plan on using it as a bench.

The color is perfect, and the chest is heavy! I like it, a lot!

I really like this trunk and since I have two of them let me say its easier to put the lid on with two people but not impossible by yourself.

I guess you get what you pay for! Looks good from the outside but the only thing you can fill it with is pillows and blankets

I loooove this coffee table trunk and have gotten many, many compliments on it. I thought it had a 50/50 chance of looking cheesy in real life from looking at the pictures online, but it really is quite nice and definitely looks way more expensive than it is. Before purchasing this trunk coffee table, I was contemplating spending almost $1500 on a comparable looking one (I quickly found out trunk tables are not cheap). Long story short though, you get what you pay for. Though it looks pretty and sturdy, this trunk doesn't withstand much weight, which is clearly stated once you have it in your hot little hands. I think it holds 50 lbs inside, and 30 lbs on top... or vice versa. I forget. I didn't think it would be that big of a deal, until I started storing heavy photo albums in it, AND every single one of my friends tries to sit on it. So if you don't mind yelling "Don't sit there!" to most of your hoodlum guests, then definitely buy it. It's pretty and classy looking, just don't expect it to be a practical storage space or seat. Unless you just plan on storing linens and such...

I love this chest since the moment I saw it, however when I was putting it together I realize that I couldn't do too much presure or it damage the wood

We received the trunk as scheduled from Overstock. During the assembly my wife noticed that the lid had been damaged (three dents and a scrape) in shipment. We contacted customer service, they found a replacement lid and shipped to us in two days at no charge. The trunk was relatively easy to put together and for the price is very nice and looks great setting at the foot of the bed.

Trunk shipped beautifully... UPS even brought it up to my second-floor walk-up apt. It's beautiful... I love the design, the wood is gorgeous and the metal detailing is very unique - perfect for the look I was going for... It's also super functional in an NYC 1-bedroom... holds a ton of stuff! The only problem is that it was a nightmare to assemble... dozens of miniature screws and a majority of the metal pieces (corner braces on the bottom and latches connecting top lid to trunk) did not line up with the drilled holes... it was not fun to get together at all. Also - it has weight limits on the instruction guide that I did not see mentioned on the web description... this was a bit of a bummer (for me) and if you're planning to use it as additional seating, to showcase over 30 lbs. of coffee-table paraphenalia or over 50 lbs. of "junk in the trunk"... you probably should look for something else - as these are the weight limits you learn of... after you've ordered/opened it.

I'd been searching for a vintage-looking trunk to act as a cocktail table so when I saw this item on Overstock, I ordered it. It came exactly as scheduled (it's heavy--box weighs 66 pounds!). My boyfriend assembled it in about an hour and a half--said it wasn't too difficult. Now it looks great and I've received several complements on it.

Easy to put together and super cute! It is a medium brown color and has a somewhat rustic look.
