Good bed. Nice finish. Dark brown color. Solid once assembled. Ships in two boxes - one smaller but long frame box about 4" square but 8' long with its parts and then one very large (two people to move) 4' by 8' by 3" thick box that contains the headboard, footboard and its assembly and decorative parts.
Frame is your typical one size for every mattress size that snaps together in the center rail. Use the outer holes in the center piece when it snaps together. No tools are needed. The frame on its own is a little wobbly but that's because the headboard and footboard aren't yet attached to stabilize everything.
Now, the headboard/footboard attachment.
The manufacturer cheats a little in that the headboard and footboard pieces are the exact same size. The headboard height is created by adding an extension leg on the bottom of each side and then those extension legs are what actually attaches to the frame. Note the headboard itself does *not* have any attachment holes.
We attached the extension legs to the frame first, then placed the headboard over the legs then pressed down *hard* on the frame post at each end at the same time to compress the frame onto the extension legs. We thought it was easier to do it this way then trying to push the extension legs up into the headboard first or trying to do the compression without the extension legs attached. When the headboard is completely pressed down on the legs, there should be nothing but the joint of the two pieces - you should no longer see any of the inside smaller parts of the extension legs as you do before compressing the headboard onto the legs. If you don't compress hard enough, the headboard itself will rock a little as it's not tight enough with the extension legs. Press down HARD. I even considered a rubber mallet on the each end but we managed to compress it down far enough without needed the it.
The headboard attaches to the frame via four long bolts/washer/nut. The bolt is an allen wrench bolt (allen wrench is included in the parts box) but the nut itself is a 10mm nut (no wrench comes in the kit for that). The instructions say to just use the allen wrench to tighten but I wanted to hold the nut too while tightening it all down.
The footboard itself has the mounting holes in it and uses the shorter of the bolts and the allen wrench. Just screw the footboard to the frame. Finials then screw into the four posts at each corner. The footboard also has little decorative cups that the legs sit in.
Note that you can see the feet of the frame after bed is assembled so you might want a longer bed skirt or something to block seeing them if you don't care for the exposed look.
Not too tough to assemble but pay attention that the headboard has no mounting holes on it and the footboard does. That's the only way to tell them apart.
The instructions also don't focus on the headboard first and then the footboard. It combines the assembly of the two in each of the steps so read through the instructions a few times so you know exactly what piece goes where.
We love our new bed. It looks great, just like the picture online. The quality is excellent . My husband put it together in about an hour. According to him, it was easy and the instructions were clear. No parts were missing either!
The bed arrived promptly two days after I ordered it. Amazing!
The deal-clincher was the free shipping. I can't even imagine how much a solid metal bed would normally cost to ship. And king size beds I've seen elsewhere were priced three times what this one cost.
I will definitely be checking Overstock.com's online catalog on a routine basis. I was completely satisified with this order, and I know several people who have also had satisfying experiences with this site.
Bought this bed about 3.5 years ago and it is amazing! It has been moved 4 times now (and reassembled) and it is perfect. It does not squeak and the screws remain tight. We are a bit heavier and actually have been quite surprised how well the bed has held up. I think this is the best frame ever!
How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Good

At first I was a little nervous about ordering this item in fear of it being wobbley or squeaky- quickly my fears were put to rest. It was very easy to put together and is solid as a rock even if you jump up and down on the bed. The item arrived within 5 days of being ordered and looks great.
Delighted with bed!! It was delivered very quickly, assembly was very easy, and it is perfect in my guest bedroom. It is a very sturdy bed with good support for the mattress. Color is just as shown. I have already recommended it to friends,
I really like this bed frame - beautiful color and style - and think it is high quality for the price. My husband and friend set it up without a problem. Unfortunately I didn't realize that it didn't have the wood slats that other beds come with these days. We got a box spring, but in addition to the mattress and the topper we have, we almost needed a running leap to get on it! SO, I recommend that you get what is called a "bunky board" foundation. It is just an inch or two height and brings the bed to a lower, more normal height. We learned the hard way, but at least found a solution.
The bed is a nice quality for this price. We use it for a guest room. When we were assembling it, It has no holes or hardware to attach the frame to the footboard. Luckily we are handy people and figured out a way that looked good and was substantial.
I was searching for a king size bed on line for several weeks. I found this same exact bed on *** and was ready to order it when I thought to myself I should check overstock.com. To my surprise, I found the same bed for almost *** less. I quickly called overstock to inquire about bed. I was very pleased and decided to purchase bed from overstock. It was everything I expected. The color was exactly what I thought it would be and the bed is very sturdy. My husband and son had it put together in 45 minutes. I love the bed and I have received many compliments on it. The bed looks great and I am very satisfied with my purchase.

How well will this work with a 12 in memory foam bed. Will it still need a base for the mattress and what will the base of the mattress measure from the floor?jmkwd12345 on Aug 21, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello jmkwd12345, this bed will work with a 12-inch memory foam mattress. However, you would still need some type of foundation or box spring to support the mattress. The side rail that will hold a box spring/foundation is 7 1/2 inches from the floor. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thank you for shopping with us! Amandaoverstockcustomercare2 on Aug 23, 2014
We got a foundation called a bunky board which is much thinner than a typical "box spring". Otherwise you'll need a step stool! (we made the mistake at first...)anin1 on Sep 5, 2014

Hello Valued customer, we appreciate your inquiry. Yes a low profile box spring should work for this item. The bed may not be as high though as in the picture, And sit lower in the frame. We hope this information has been helpful. Thank you for shopping with us. Have a great day!overstockcustomercare1 on Mar 7, 2014
I think it will work fine with a low profile box spring. We have the normal one but looking at it I can see no reason why it wouldn't. It is a great bed frame. I have an old fashioned quilt on it and use it in a guest room. People love it.octbbmsu on Apr 9, 2014

Does the center brace go from top to bottom, or side to side? Our current frame is awful and separates, causing the two twin box springs to separate and fall down.sherrypoppins on Jan 3, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question

We bought this bed and it came well packed and a nice quality although it's not a rusty brown it's more of a charcoal gray.
My question is with the headboard. It's very wobbly and we are not able to lean up against it to read or watch tv. This is a huge problem for us however, we didn't see any other complaints about this. Can you provide any input on this. Very disappointed and frustrated.krashn2me on May 13, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question

From reading the past reviews some people say the color is correct "rust brown" others say that it isn't a rust brown but more of a darkish, charcoal color. I'd actually prefer the charcoal color - is there anyway to request that when placing my order?blahblah8 on Apr 16, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question

Can you tell me the dimensions of open space inside of the bed frame? My mattress will set inside of the frame as opposed to a box spring that would set on the frame. Can you tell me the height of the foot post measured from where the mattress rest to the top of the flat rail on the foot post? Thank you!airmilt on Jan 8, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Thank you for your interest. 1) The footboard panel is 38 inches tall to top of ball finial 2) The top cross rail is 33 1/2 inches from floor 3) The bottom cross rail is 27 1/2 inches from floor 4) The bottom rail is 8 inches from floor 5) The side rail will hold a boxspring/foundation 7 1/2 inches from the floor. So it depends on your boxspring/foundation height AND your mattress height, as to where you bedding set will hit the footboard panel. Please feel free to contact us again with any further questions.
